“Please write down my name. Jack Addison.”

Jack Addison. Son of a famous monster hunter. Grandson of a celebrated inventor. He has a lot to live up to, but his ego is as big as the expectations of his family. At just nineteen, he’s fresh out of a prestigious academy, set to make a name for himself in a world where people need protection from strange and dangerous creatures.

During the annual hunt for the Loch Ness monster, Jack finds a rival in Roux Chat-Bonnes, a cat-like being who recently joined the same profession and is set to steal the bounty—and fame—from under Jack’s nose.

Jack won’t let that happen. He sets out on the hunt alone, but the creature that he finds in the cave near Loch Ness doesn’t have tentacles. Instead, it’s got hairy legs, eight black eyes and a taste for human flesh.

K.A. Merikan is a duo of queer writers who don’t believe in following the well-trodden path. In their books you can dip your toe into dangerous romance with mafiosi, outlaw bikers and bad boys, all from the safety of your sofa. They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and in fiction. Their stories don’t shy away from exploring the darker side of M/M romance, and feature a variety of anti-heroes, rebels, misfits, and underdogs who go against the grain.

Be prepared for shocking twists, dark humor, raw emotions, and sizzling hot scenes.

K.A. Merikan also writes steamy M/M romcoms as Devon Doe.

I just want to say right away that this won't be a long review or even very in-depth as far as the plot as this is an ongoing short story serial and I don't really want to give anything away. However, I do want to express just how much I absolutely and completely LOVE it! This first came to my attention around Thanksgiving time but I was already neck-deep in holiday reads so I set it aside to read later and now "later" arrived😉 and boy am I glad it didn't get lost in my always growing TBR list because . . . well just WOW!

Jack Addison wants to make a name for himself by capturing Nessie AKA the Loch Ness Monster but his eagerness gets him into a bit of a pickle that is equally intriguing and disturbing. Fun, oddly erotic, incredibly different, and attention-grabbing from the start Jack Addison vs Man-Ravishing Spider is probably not for everyone but if you already love the workings of KA Merikan than this is a must and if you like "out there" entertainment than this is also a must. Just be sure to go in with an open mind because as I said it is definitely "out there".

Ok..I am trying to not be biased here because I ABSOLUTELY HATE SPIDERS! But this is a interesting beginning to the series. I already have an idea that Jack and the Chat Bonnes will hook up.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I liked that this was written with the help of their readers through their Patreon site. It is campy, and spicy. It is kind of Percy Jackson meets the porn world. If you need a spicy, fast read this is something to consider. Thank you!

Dude! Ehh... I am STILL tryin' to wrap my old-lady brain around what I just read. It's like the Twilight Zone and hot 🔥 gay erotica had a one-night stand at a pay by the hour motel (because it was a cheap fast read. Bwahahahaaa....)

Excellent MC, who is a complete tool! I hope he continues to have his "clock cleaned," til he gets over his narrow minded ways. Only time will tell. Perhaps Nessi will whoop his rear next time.

I can even begin to write a review... It's a serial with the first part being very short and (as I said) interesting.

Hahahahaha OMG! I would have had a chat before I’d go chasing spiders into crevices, but Jack is a bit more adventurous (read: stupidly arrogant). An oddly entertaining inter dimensional lark.

Jack is a late teen. He's also arrogant, bigoted, and far overestimated his own skill and knowledge. Yet, he's somehow likable, too. His thoughts during the second half hint that he's redeemable, and that some of his boorish and bigoted thinking are the product of an arrogant, boorish, and bigoted upbringing. That's not an excuse, but it does suggest that perhaps he's willing to address his pride and prejudices (heh.).

Defiantly not my thing. Style of mini stories has a lot to offer and it’s fairly well written (hence the two stars), but the content is just -> 😩 and could really use some content warnings.

Kinda wish the series didn’t start with this giant spider situation cause I’d be mildly more inclined to stay curious and open to following this foolish dudes journey (which hopefully includes massive character development). Rough start — future readers proceed with caution.

4.0 out of 5 stars I pray I don’t have nightmares tonight involving a certain man-sh@gging BLEEP 😬

It’s a mystery to me how anyone including even those totally off the wall Merikans could dream up a steamy session between a human male and giant, man-ravishing, eight-legged *creature* [yeah, I suffer greatly from arachnophobia and am therefore avoiding both looking too closely at the cover art and using *that word*, as the creepy AF and far too lifelike emoji keeps popping up every time I do], and yet, I admit I found myself intrigued by this erotic-ish, tongue in cheek, but mostly just shudder-inducing PNR.

Not being a devout fan of the genre, I can count on one hand the amount of books/fics I’ve read involving interspecies relationships [mostly just tentacle porn, tbh..lol], but this new serial appears to focus on our pompous, fame-hungry, and all-round TSTL titular character getting down and dirty with a myriad of mythical creatures as he seeks to make a name for himself in the world of monster hunting.

As much as I liked this, I’m glad it seems to be a different creature that Jack has a passionate encounter with in each title - Nessie’s up next - as I don’t particularly relish a repeat of this tryst [I truly am that terrified of *them*]. Mostly I’m intrigued by what looks set to be perhaps a budding enemies to lovers romance between our rival venators, Jack, and the sort of hybrid human/ginger moggie [or chat], Roux, which should be very interesting since they’ve already gotten off to a dismal start and the former has made no secret of his discriminatory feelings toward other species in general, and especially of fraternising with them.

Whether you’re a die-hard KAM fan or just looking for something a helluva lot quirkier than the usual m/m offering, I’d recommend giving this mind-boggling quickie a crack.
