Mr Plum Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 49 ratings

Dave waits in line every morning for coffee from the tiny coffee shop on platform 4. It makes the train journey bearable. As does the handsome six feet two guy, with the plum-coloured stripe in his tie matching the colour of the sleeve around his cup.
Dave really wants the plum-coloured sleeve. But he never gets one.
The day Mr Plum offers him a coffee is the day his life changes. Was it their choice or the barista playing Cupid? Dave will never know. But just as Dave gets to know Mr Plum, the handsome man vanishes.
Will it be a happy ever after for Dave and Mr Plum, or was it just strangers passing on the platform?

This was the first work by this author I read. It has started me on a joyful relationship marked by consistently fulfilling works. Her writing is fresh, easy and joyful to read. Her take on personalities, relationships and interrelationship dialogue is pleasing to the ear. Give yourself a treat and pick up this short read, it will make you smile. And if you are really wanting to be generous to yourself, pick up her other works.

Tom and Dave meet over rushed coffee on the commuter train platform. Tom gets a plum colored sleeve on his cup which is Dave's favorite color. With a wink and a nod from the barista they start buying a cup for the other when arriving first. It is cute how the relationship advances. It is a pleasant short
    read. Enjoy.

Short story with interesting characters, loosely bundled into a romance. At times I felt like I missed a page. No great tension or angst develops, but the story does have a decent finish.

This is even more light and fluffy than usual. Pure tissue paper, and I just couldn't believe it.

It started out okay, but I rapidly lost faith in the characters and ended up not really caring what happened to them.

Wow, Sue Brown has written a clever little story here! I loved it! I love the relationship developing between these two in a train station build around the mutual addiction of coffee. A bit of drama, a bit of fun, and a bit of sex. Good writing, fun story!

Sometimes you just need a small snack before going on to other things and this is just the right size. Mr. Plum is about meeting someone that might be the perfect fit and it is. Good little short story that will be the perfect in between snack.

3.0 out of 5 stars 8.50 to London Waterloo
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 26, 2013
I'm sorry I'd like to say more good things about the book but I was slightly obssesed through the whole thing on how they were managing to commute to work on the 8.50 to London Waterloo. Most jobs start at 9.0.

I'd maybe buy them both working flexi-time (although one works at a very traditional office) but I don't buy an entire station full of commuters on flexi-time. Most commuters I know would consider a 7.50 train to be a late one.

Yes it's a minor point but the whole setup is based around stations and commuting and it threw me so totally out of the story I never got back into it.

As for the story, it's short but throughly inoffensive and might manage quirkly charming if I wasn't stuck on the idea of an 8.50 commute.

The story was interesting and the characters were likeable. I quite enjoyed the story. I have read quite a few of this author's stories and would recommend them all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amüsant - aber viel zu kurz
Reviewed in Germany on July 17, 2011

Not living in London I don't know much about the trains but I felt the story was fairly plausible, it was a nice little read and passed the time of day as far as I remember, having read it a while ago, sweet.
