Salute to the Stud: A M/M romance novella Kindle Edition
Two weeks in paradise, one mystery sexter, and some sexy yoga times ... but real life isn't all rosy sunsets and walks along the beach.
Jasper is licking his wounds in paradise after being dumped, according to his ex, for someone more adventurous. The romantic Hawaiian getaway for two he booked hadn’t featured his sister as his plus one, but sometimes real life sucks.
For the two weeks he’s there his plans include hot dates with a sun lounger and working his way through the local craft beers. Nothing more.
Until he receives a sext from a wrong number. A mystery yoga instructor offering a private session to teach him the plow, and maybe even get plowed. Jasper’s never had a hookup with anyone before, but perhaps it’s time to prove his ex wrong.
This M/M romance from Beth Laycock features hurt/comfort, holiday fling, sexy yoga lesson, first time hookup, and of course a happy ending.

About the author

Beth Laycock’s books are influenced by her time living overseas as well as the gritty, urban landscape of the north of England where she grew up. She has been reading romance since she was old enough to tell herself that line every book lover does—just one more chapter.
As a teenager, she attempted to write her first novel, and many more since then are still gathering dust on her bookshelf. It wasn’t until she discovered the M/M genre that her muse showed up and refused to quit telling her stories about beautiful men finding love together. She hasn’t stopped scribbling them down since. Beth’s muse usually shows up when she is in the shower, is allergic to cleaning, rarely lets her watch TV, and insists she drinks copious amounts of coffee so she can turn caffeine into words.
Beth’s books range from sweet to sexy, long to short, contemporary to paranormal, but a HEA is always guaranteed.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2023New to me author. Great mm romance book. The main characters are Jasper and Tamal. Set in Hawaii and London the awesome story covers some history, the meeting and eventually the love story of both characters. Such a great story. I’ll read more from the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023I like the characters and the story. Mostly from Jasper’s POV but we get to hear from Tamal a few times.
Cute, quick read with some quickly resolved mini-angst moments.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2019An anniversary present gone wrong gives Jasper a second chance at love and a new outlook on life when he finds himself on a tropical vacation with his sister rather than his boyfriend. Smarting from his ex's cruel words, Jasper is determined to remain in his shell while only dipping his toes into paradise, but when he receives a sexy text from a wrong number, he just might gather enough courage to jump in feet first instead. Tamal might be just what he needs to to find who he really wants to be and who he might want in his life. Distance might not be the only problem they'll need to overcome, however, because secrets and surprise visits may derail whatever they were beginning to build.
Jasper was endearingly awkward and so very honest. I liked him quite a lot, insecurities and all; especially when he found his backbone regarding his ex and what he wants his future to look like and who he wants in it. Tamal was a bit less of a draw for me. He had kindness and patience and a whole lot of sex appeal, but it was his eagerness to believe conniving words rather than the yearning and openness he saw in Jasper that disappointed me. I didn't feel drawn into his character. It was Jasper that kept the story moving and his personal evolution that made the story stronger. Despite the lack of depth surrounding Jasper, this was a cute story that had plenty of steam and a sweet ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021First let me say that I really hate the title of this story. I know it is a yoga reference, but there is just something about it that doesn’t sit well with me. It did not affect my rating, especially since I enjoyed it. Overall, I thought it was well written and the timeline and scenes transitioned smoothly. This story was very sweet and I liked that Jasper and Tamal were brought together through a glitch in the technology most have their faces buried in. It was alleged that Kai, at the hotel’s front desk, had something to do with it but it was never explored or explained. And while I found most of the sitruations presented to be believable, I was a bit thrown off by the appearance of Sam, Jasper’s ex. Other than exposing some of Tamal’s insecurities, it really didn’t add much to the story.
In summary, I found this quick read to be sweet and engaging and the MCs very likable.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2020Novella set in both Hawaii and London, the plot revolves around yoga. The lead couple swap the narrative, filling in their characters and those supporting the story. Good heat. Apt descriptions of the locales. Enjoyable.
As I am a gatherer of books, I collect books and ebooks from a variety of sources: Goodreads wins, Bookhub, BookFunnel, emails from authors and publishers, and others. I do lose track of their sources. But, as a reader, I feel I should give an honest, unencumbered review for all I read.

A sweet and lovable story. I loved Jasper and Tamal!
I really enjoy Beth’s writing. Her stories are so easy to read and have such lovable relatable and realistic characters! I love how she creates seemingly ordinary lovable men and gives them their happily ever after and Jasper is no exception!
I loved Jaspers quirky fumblings and Tamal’s sexy take charge attitude. These two ‘meet’ through a case of mistaken identity and an orchestrated private yoga encounter allows sparks to fly. Jasper was looking to prove his ex wrong and enjoy a holiday fling but the chemistry and feelings Tamal generates makes that impossible. As they both happen to live in the same city, they try to meet up again and after an unfortunate run-in with the ex which almost derails them, they finally communicated and realized they are perfect for each other! This story has a wonderful, feel good, happy ending that will give you all the feels! Another great story from Beth! An awesome quick romantic read, perfect as your holiday read or just to make you smile! I highly recommend Salute to the Stud, yogi lover or not.
Thanks for reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2019Jasper gets a sexy text from an unknown number that leads to a meet cute with Tamal at a time when he is not in the best of places given that he is on what was supposed to be a romantic vacation in Hawaii with his sister after being dumped. This is a whimsical and fun read that was well written and engaging all the way through with a little, very little, drama thrown in to add a little spice.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2019A quick little Novella, Salute to the Stud is about two men who find each other at the right time.
Jasper is spending a little vacay with his sister, after being dumped and accused of being dull. Tamal is the sexy yoga instructor.
A little “mix up” leads these two together for some passionate one on one yoga sessions, and the little time spent together, they grow closer than they thought they would.
As luck would have it, they live not too far from each other, but will they be able to make things work in the real world?
Sexy, quick, and well told. I enjoyed this novella!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine Romantic Novel
A delightful short book pulled together by some excellent story-telling and a exotic atmosphere. An unexpected twist in the plot spices things up. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Story
A touching short holiday romance tale, plus, of course, a dollop of angst, but it's a really nice cozy read. Tamal and Jasper meet while Jasper is holidaying in Hawaii nursing a broken heart. A series of mis-channeled texts sets off a gorgeous story and an undeniable attraction. A sweet read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strange circumstances and odd choices
This book was alright, but as two key points to the whole story really didn't work out for me it didn't get any better than that. The whole idea of the cell.phone mixup was downright unusual, and it is never clear how this lady at the front desk would decide itade sense to get another person's number from a random patron. For a high end hotel that was just downright illogical. The texting irked me too, with the whole thing seeming a bit too unlikely to be the old jokes it was described as. Getting past that it was nice to see the relationship try to build from the vacation fling it started as. Then to have it go downhill because of, once again, some other person coming along and saying it was all a lie? The character even thinks to himself that he shouldn't believe what someone else says offhand, and yet he starts avoiding the relationship after which clearly means he did. It was really quite disappointing. With these things playing havoc in the storyline it was never exactly a read that lived up to its potential.
