- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2019December 1888, NYC. A weary Nebraska traveler, a muscled cowboy in a cowboy hat and duster, dark haired Alby, 30, is searching for remnants of his family. We see the sights and sounds, the vivid descriptions, and his deep thoughts. He sees an angel ornament, then meets blonde Xeno, 27, a tall, handsome, clean shaven man in a top hat and coat, who saves him from the trolley. They meet a few times, and Xeno gives Alby good advice. Alby stays at the YMCA, gets a job, and becomes more than friends with Xeno; secret lovers, as each man's feelings grow.
Alby has dreams, thoughts of home and his life's journey. Alby doesn't feel like he's good enough for Xeno, but Xeno disagrees, because to find a special someone is a gift. Their sexy times are passion filled.
Alby keeps seeing a women who looks like the shop angel, and hears a voice. Later, one day the voice and lady lead him to an alley to rescue someone.
This is a fun Christmas tale, with magic, a helpful angel, and a destined love found. We also get an exciting epilogue.
ENJOY ! Merry Christmas !

- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2019A Christmas story that works on several levels, "Summerfield" tells the story of Alby and Xeno, who meet in 1880s New York after Alby comes to town looking for his family. Alby and Xeno find themselves in a relationship, thanks in part to the Christmas Angel ornament looking out for them. Fielding creates an interesting pair with these characters who must be somewhat clandestine in their affections towards one another, considering the period. Their HEA doesn't feel forced and is part of a good solution for the time period.
Besides enjoying the characters, I found Fielding's setting fascinating and she manages to weave rich historical detail into the story without bogging down the plot, as Eli Easton did in the previous entry in the series, "The Christmas Angel". After reading the story, I ended up reading up on a few of the events touched upon, such as the harsh winters that brought havoc on the Great Plains and out west. Following up with reading on the author's research for the book on her blog was fascinating, as well, though definitely not necessary to enjoy this short novel.
Highly recommended if you're in the mood for a Christmas story that's a bit out of the mainstream.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2020Kim Fielding is still a new to me author, but everything I've read by her has been amazing. I really love the Christmas Angel series and Summerfield's Angel is a wonderful addition. All Alby wants is a warm place to sleep, food in his belly, a nice shower, and to find out what happened to his brothers and mother when he was placed on a train out west when he was 13. He was placed with a Western farm family who treated him better than most children would have been treated. He was raised to be a ranch hand and only after the Westerfields fortune changed, Alby decided to come back home to the Five Points neighborhood in NYC. He almost gets run over by a carriage until Xeno saves him. Thanks to a certain Christmas angel that is hanging in a store window, Alby and Xeno find their paths crossing. The epilogue and ending was a very nice touch to wrapping up their HEA.

A totally worthy Christmas read!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018This is my 4th book in the Christmas Angel series and was not disappointed. I found myself rooting for Xeno and Alby from their first meeting, and was rewarded with a wonderful HEA.
I thought by this time I would have a favorite in the series, but each book, taking place in such different times, just consistently touch my heart. I will say that this is the first book in a while, that I have read in one sitting. I literally could not put it down.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2018This book was nice all in all but a bit too slow and confusing for the first half or so. I was having a hard time reading until the second half were I felt it was much more cohesive and interesting.
I also felt like the carved angel theme, that is a connecting thread in this 6 book series, didn't work as well for me. I felt like The angel had too much "screen time" in the story, and that it just add to the feeling of it being 'set up' in a way I didn't like all that much.
Alby and Xeno meet in a very coincidental way, and they keep bumping into each other, but it felt too coordinated and inorganic to me. I liked Alby as a character and what brought him back to New York city, but Xeno was... a bit bland.
The romance that ensues is sweet but had no depth, and I did like the second half, like I said, and felt like I got to know them enough to like and care for them more.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2022Alby and Xeno are delightful and I love that they found a way to live the life they wanted. I am enjoying the Angel and her antics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read.
What an absolute delight these 'Angel' books are. They're so sweet and full of the Christmas spirit. Despite all being festive romances, with pretty predictable endings, as it should be in a Christmas romance, they're all very different. Alfie and Xeno are so diverse; Albie all bluff and nonsense, and Xeno so sweet and positive.
As with all of Ms Fielding's work the writing is incredibly atmospheric, it's always as if you're there, wherever her characters are, when you read one of her books. As a couple Albie and Xeno just work, and despite their disparate backgrounds, they were perfect for each other .
There was room for a lot of angst in the story, what with Albie's background, but fortunately there's very little. It almost has a Cinderella feel to it. I loved the way in which Ms Fielding worked the Angel into the story. Delightful epilogue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Christmas romance
I've just finished reading this delightful series and thoroughly enjoyed all of the books. There is a seventh one, The Magician's Angel, but I couldn't find it in hard copy and didn't want to read it electronically. Most of the books are novellas of just over 100 pages. My favourite titles were Soldier's Wish and Shrewd Angel, because they were longer and allowed more time for story and character development—216 and 294 pages respectively. I would have liked to see UK spelling used for the stories set in England and Commonwealth countries for greater authenticity because we not only spell differently, but pronounce differently, too. Highly recommended as light, easy-to-read Christmas romance stories.

4 ⭐️
a well crafted story that kept me engaged throughout
I really liked Alby and his attitude to life. He had simple needs, of food, shelter and a job. He wasn’t afraid of work and he was prepared to do whatever he needed to. I also liked Xeno but didn’t really connect with him as well. I was looking forward to see how the boys would get their HEA and wasn’t disappointed.
