Yours For The Holiday: A brother's best friend romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 512 ratings

Fresh off a break-up, Remy is in no mood to share a room with his brother's best friend during a holiday stay at home. Jason Hendricks has always treated him like a little brother to tease and taunt, all the more embarrassing because Remy has secretly crushed on the jerk since puberty. But when Jason confides he's bisexual, Remy realizes the crush he loves to hate could be the perfect rebound.

Jason has always found Remy appealing. He didn't handle his attraction well when he was younger, but now Remy's a grown man and Jason's no longer afraid of his feelings. Some playful flirtation sounds like a great way to spend Thanksgiving break, but he's not prepared for Remy's newfound sex appeal or his decision to make Jason his rebound fling. Jason doesn't want to risk fallout with a family that's always been there for him, but he's not sure he can resist.

When the two part ways, they don't plan to stay in touch, but soon they're texting, trading sexy pictures and helping each other cope with family drama. Remy agrees to be his for the holiday, continuing their secret fling over Christmas, but Jason knows that won't be enough. He'll have to find the courage to be open and honest with his best friend -- and the whole Wells family -- if he wants a chance at love in the new year.

This approximately 50,000 word novel is a brother's best friend, enemies to lovers romance that comes with a satisfying HEA!

I really enjoy DJ Jamison’s books, but there’s something extra special about her holiday romances. Jason and Remy are a great pair. Jason is Remy’s brother’s bff, so they’ve grown up together. And unbeknownst to the other, they’ve been attracted to each other since they were teens. In fact, they both learned about their sexuality because of that attraction. It just took Jason, who’s bi, longer to accept his bisexuality. And in the meantime he responded to his attraction to Remy in less than mature ways, giving Remy the impression he didn’t like him. This sets them at odds when they see each other again for the first time in three years. Remy just can’t believe that Jason would actually like him.

Jason fights the feelings he has for Remy at first because of fear about how his bff and their family would react. If I have any complaint it’s that that fear seems to fall by the wayside pretty quickly. In fact, Remy and Jason’s roles seem to switch after they hookup the first time. Which is fine except Jadon’s fear of losing his place with the Wells family seemed so genuine that it’s weird that he doesn’t think about it much afterwards. Still, it’s a minor complaint, more just an observation.

Jason and Remy have great chemistry. They help each other, and connect in deeper more vulnerable ways than even Jason and his bff do. It’s a lovely holiday romance 🦃🎄❤️

No secrets about how it turns out given the full title of the book. Coming to terms with one's sexuality can be difficult, but love conquers all, at least in this book. The relationship since childhood between Jason and Remy was borderline 'frenemies'. Jason was best friends with Derek, Remy's older brother, and an honorary member of the Wells family. That made it all the more awkward when they got together.

I felt that the apparent quick to fall in love worked well here. The guys had known each other for most of their lives and had already had unspoken feelings for one another. The right set of circumstances put them in a position to try for more.

All of the hangups about why they might not have been able to stay together made sense. The concerns from both of them were legitimate. It didn't stop them from flirting around a relationship but it took a lot for Jason to overcome his very real concerns about the impact of his relationship with the Wells family given that they constituted the only people who really cared about him. It was hard for him, thinking he might lose those people and have absolutely no one who loved him unconditionally.

It's a sweet romance. If you're looking for a nice romance with drama that mostly revolves around other people, this might just be a fun book to read.

I always read this book for the holidays. One of my favorites. Anything by this author is fantastic, have not been disappointed.

Not very certain whether this is an enemies to lovers kind of plot. They fought and pranked each other a lot but it was emphasised repeatedly it was due to admiration and adoration. Something that I find sweet but lack thereof. It doesn't have the boom factor that really engage me in. The holiday vibe was weak despite its self explanatory title. Both MCs are childhood friends and have feelings for each other since young.. young meaning since they were children? I got a bit weirded out by that. Derek's story annoyed me as well. But then the author did a good save in the end. Basically I enjoyed the start and the end of the storyline.

Remy and Jason have teased and taunted each other for years. It is par for the course when you essentially grow up together. What's different now is the fact that Remy now knows Jason is bisexual...well isn't this an interesting development?! A shared bedroom over the holiday leads to some sexy, sneaky shenanigans and a flirty holiday fling that has both of these boys wondering what it would be like to have more... This was a fun book to read. I loved their love/hate history and their witty banter. Another fantastic book by D.J. Jamison!

3.5 Stars and an overall sweet quick read. I’ve always enjoyed an enemies (or frenemies) to lovers trope and this one did a so-so attempt. I didn’t find the enemies part between Remy and Jason to be too convincing. It just seemed like every time Remy was going on about what horrible thing Jason did to him as a kid was followed by a but. But the thing that dragged this down for me was the immature head games. It’s a fling, it’s a thing, let’s sext, send me a dick pic... And then all of the excuses about why who did what to whom years ago. Come on, really? And Derek, Remy’s older brother and Jason’s BFF was the biggest game playing schmuck in the bunch. Absolutely no evidence or proof of cheating and betrayal but he goes on to destroy a great relationship with his then-girlfriend Courtney and is filled with anger and venom towards Jason and won’t even tell him why! I really liked Remy’s incredibly supportive parents and that everything works out nicely in the end, but the false drama was a bit much.
(P.S., Some reviews took issue with the cover with at least one referring to it as “cringeworthy.” Am I missing something? What is wrong with the cover??

I enjoyed reading this book very much.
It captivated me from the first page right till the end...
There were times I found Remy very frustrating and manipulative. I know he just came from a heartbreak but that still did not justify his actions.
My heart just wanted to break for JJ all of the time, I just wanted to reach in between the pages and give him a hug.
But all in all a really nice read, with nice characters, steamy factors if that is what your looking for and a happily ever after 😉

5.0 out of 5 stars A cute holiday read

Read on KU: A little different frenemies to lovers tale, but thoroughly enjoyable. On a side note from the main storyline: I liked how the writer didn't have Courtney fall back into Derek's arms once he realised the error of his ways. Life isnt picture perfect, and kudos to Courtney for not wanting to just accept being treated badly. I like reading books that actually have consequences. Yes, we all want characters to have HEAs, but in some cases they don't deserve them. That this author went there with minor characters is sufficient for me to read more if their work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and fun read
Reviewed in Australia on April 17, 2021
This was a fun and sweet read. I liked how the relationship between Jason and Remy shifted, but the fun banter between them remained. The alternating POV really helped with the character development, especially as they were both realising their feelings for the other. The storyline flowed well, and the epilogue at the end was sweet. I only wish the book was a little longer as I would have loved to see them both navigating their relationship outside of the holiday season. All in all, a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author.
