About the author

Amazon best-selling author Susan Mason was born in England where, as a child, she always enjoyed reading and writing stories. Enid Blyton's children's mysteries were her first real craze. She collected and read the whole "The Mystery of.." series. Later she moved on to other genres like historical fiction, discovering authors like Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy.
When she was a teenager, she moved with her family to live in Australia, where she finished school and qualified as a CPA in Sydney. Later she returned to the UK, where she completed a Masters in Biblical Studies at Kings College London.
It was only when she began freelance work that she became an author. Her primary interest is to write for children, both fiction and non-fiction. "It is my hope, through my stories and info-picture books, to share with children a delight in the world around us," she says.
Axolotl! is her first published info-picture book in the Funny Fauna series. Her second book, The Little Chick of Sunrise Farm, is an illustrated Easter story for children. The short novel, Life According to Zoe, was inspired by the family puppy.
She lives in London with her husband Phil, daughter Emma and pet Labrador Zoe.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2017While this is a Christian story and I am not a Christian, and while one of its focuses, besides love, is a miracle, and I do not believe in miracles, I still liked the story, a lot. And I am sure kinds will like it. The story is filled with very sympathetic characters: Lucy the daughter of a farmer who loves the animals on the farm and treats them nicely, the wise dog Storm who teaches the animals many things including that they need to act properly, two chicks who love each other and are always together, and other animals.
The story is about a theft and the consequences, the hurt that it caused the owner of the item stolen, and what happened to the thief.
Kids will realize and understand all of this and learn not to steal even when someone has something they really like and really want to have.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2017I liked this story of how she shared right and wrong actions by using two little chicks and a sheepdog and then later share with the readers of how they can be forgiven when they make mistake like Josh did. Also because she used an easy to read font, too. These are my reasons for rating this as a five star ebook for young Kids's perhaps an early reader who enjoys short animal stories such as this. I received this ebook for free and in return, here is my honest review. Super work Susan! by Sunny @ jesuslittlelambkin@gmail.com. I am also to write & illustrate children's books for Jesus Susan.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2017.Lucy is the farmer's daughter at Sunrise Farm. Josh and Jess are two chicks who were born on the same spring morning. Storm, the sheepdog, lets the chicks play with him, always instructing them to do what is right and good. Lucy and her family are getting ready for Easter. Josh loves the painted egg that Lucy has left outside. In fact he obsesses over it, wanting it for himself. Nobody will notice, right? Wrong!
What are the consequences of Josh's actions? Who suffers as well as him? This is a TREMENDOUS message for children to hear, reading and seeing the terrible problems caused by our sin.
There are a few illustrations scattered through the book. I found a few run-on sentences but still a very enjoyable book. I downloaded this book on my Kindle. Thanks, Liz
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2017A well written story with a lesson. These two best friend chicks know right from wrong and have been told to do good, but when temptation gets the best of one both end up involved. The story has a great, teachable lesson for kids and also a way to introduce religion if you choose. The nice illustrations add to the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2019A delightful tale of two little chicks friendship on the farm and how their friendship saved one of them. A different telling of the story of Easter that should bring cheer to all! The author included a booklet of pictures for children to color also!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2017This story follows Jess and Josh, two little chicks, and their antics on their farm. When one of them does something wrong, they are taught the meaning of love and friendship. This is a lovely story, and analogy of the redemption of Christ. Must read for your little ones.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2019I’ll enjoy sharing this with my Grandkids and discussing Easter as more than a mere holiday. Thanks for the opportunity.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2017This children's story tells of a friend who takes the place of another in death to protect the friend out of love. While the story doesn't go into detail to make the correlation between it and the Crucifixion of Christ, it could be a good springboard from which parents could convey the reasons behind Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection.

4.0 out of 5 stars An original story to illustrate the meaning of Easter
I loved the story, an original way to make a parallel with the true meaning of Easter. It is beautifully written, flows well. The illustrations are very cute. My only problem is I would have liked to see a few more illustrations considering the age category it is aimed at. It is great to have more illustrations than less when reading it to a younger child, hence my 4* instead of 5*. I truly recommend this reading in introducing a child to the meaning of Easter.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tale of a lasting truth
Attractively produced, well-written and easy to read, this charming tale conveys a valuable lesson about forgiveness, which no child is too young to learn. The reference at the end to God's forgiveness gives the story a wider and significant perspective. Those who read this book and those to whom it is read will gain much. I highly recommend it.
