I knew from the start of the series that somehow Michael and Meredith would be together in the end. Then I read the preface from Michael. I had to stop and question if Whitney G would really do this to us readers. There was only a moment of pause before I dived right in.

'You want the open wounds of my past to be bandaged and sutured with the soft threads of sex, with the
soothing balm of whispered, sexy promises.'

I guarantee you the twists and turns of this book were not what I expected, but everything was just as it should have been. The characters were rich and complicated. The story unfolded in a way that was true to these characters. It was perfect!

'There were no grand displays of love, long monologues for no reason, or any soft and soothing chats about
the hero wanting to become a better person.'

I devoured this book. It was fast-paced, exciting, thrilling and so hypnotic that I didn’t realize how late at night it was until I finished the book.

This is not at all Whitney G’s usual story, but I guarantee that the series is absolutely worth the read.

Now I just want Trevor’s story. I have no idea if it is in the works. I really hope so.

This review is for all 3 books, since I can’t really recall where one ends, and the others begin.

First off, Michael was hot AF, even though he had some serious issues. It seemed like it would be easy to not like him, but for me it was quite the opposite. Guess it’s that bad boy attraction. Meredith has her own issues, too.

The way Michael and Meredith meet and subsequently “date” seems like this story is going to be a romantic comedy; something similar to some of Whitney’s other books. That isn’t the case, but that’s all I’ll say.

This story has a lot of twists and unexpected turns. Although the content was kind of heavy, the story read fairly light and quick. Some of the events are a bit far fetched, but that’s what makes it a good story. Romance reading is pure fantasy for me, and I suspend reality when I dive into a story. As you get to know Michael, you realize you don’t really know him. He’s not easily forgettable, that’s for certain.

This series is definitely different from what Whitney usually writes about. It was a passion project she wrote for herself, and I really enjoyed it. I love her other books, but I hope she continues to get out of her box with different material like this.

Really enjoyed this trilogy!! Michael and Meredith were perfect for each other!! Great ending too. Michael was t lying about the ending!!!

The first book hooked me and I read the trilogy in 2 days.
What I liked about the three books
    1. Books are Written in Whitney Gs signature protagonists— written in the first person.
The relationship had its ups and down but the considering bizarre circumstances, their interaction sizzled. The dialogue was funny.
    2. A hit man is trying not to complete the job but has great difficulty doing it. He fell in love with her.
    3. Heroine has a mild case of Stockholm syndrome

This enemies to lovers tale is a very rich, well crafted story. The author delved into the psyche of two misfits.
No one left a worse taste in the mouth than Celia Werner. The hurtful games she played on people ruined their lives. She had no remorse.
When Celia met Edward Fassbender, she planned to ruin his life—until he turned the tables on her and gave her for a taste of Fassbender justice. Edward had marked Celia for certain death if she didn’t share the family secrets. Edward is vengeful. Celia was the only person he could get to punish for the sins committed by her family.
    3. Not the end I expected but it was satisfying.

Third and final book in a series. I found the storyline different and interesting overall. Books 1 & 2 were quite good with strong, witty protagonists that played well off each other. However, book 3 lacked momentum and the more detailed quirks of the first 2 books. It was quite short, not well-fleshed out and very short.

Whitney Omg I just finish your Empire of Lies Series and definitely my favorite series. It was phenomenal!!! Now I have so many questions to ask. Lol 😂

    1. Do you have a epilogue with Gillian reaction when she gets a best friend back?

    2. Will we ever find out if Mer meets (you know who) don’t want to spoil for others…How will that unfold? I would love to know her reaction when she saw the news that Mer was missing.

    3. Will Trevor get a book with the love of his life? (you know who😏)….I’m really invested in knowing their story and if now that the truth came out about what truly happened to her will she come out from hiding and give Trevor a chance??

Whitney I need more I can’t not let these characters go!!

    Ride or Die. 3.5 stars

I could have used an epilogue from Meredith along with a REUNION.

This was definitely a ride but it was not a surprising ride but I still enjoyed it. There is a HEA and revenge. The 3rd book reminded me of the tv series Revenge, which was a show that I loved until it became too too much.

There is also a trigger warning ... so be warned (It’s stated in the beginning of the book but just in case).

Overall a good finish. Still F.L.Y. Whitney G.

This story was simply crazy wild to read. Every twist and turn lead to a different perspective of his life with his wife and how he finally got rid of the people who destroy his years of a younger generation. He put everything to rest finally. He helped his wife with her problems with her father and aunt. All in all this story had a great ending! The author wrote this story awhile back and I haven't see new stories from her in a while. ENJOY!!

This is the 3rd and final episode of @whitneyg.author’s Empire of Lies trilogy. We pick up where we left off in the 2nd book and I don’t really want to say much about what happens because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone! ⁣

These characters in this series, man! Michael is a great anti-hero to fall in love with. He definitely has a romantic side although I do think he protests too much. ⁣

Meredith has been through so much in her life and when the truth is revealed to her we see how she’s going to deal with it in this episode of the story. It may not be what you expect! ⁣

Throughout Michael has directly addressed the reader at the start of each episode. I loved that! He’s so direct and sharp, you definitely don’t want to get on the wrong side of him! ⁣

If you’ve not read this series I would absolutely recommend starting with King of Lies. In this trilogy one of the secondary characters, Gillian, is a main character in her own Whitney G novel which I’ve also read and would recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story

What can I say? I’m not usually into reading or listening to books or audios that are a series but this one was worth it.

I couldn’t stop reading or listening & the only reason I prolonged this series was because I didn’t want it to end.

I usually prefer pure smut in my books but this book kept me interested through all 3 books.

This book was written so well I had to buy the audible. I’m hoping Whitney G releases more books with audible’s available as well.

It’s not a heavy happily ever after all - it’s a relief ending. Revenge is not for everyone but karma does. If you become a victim make your self worth it for revenge. A lot to learn in Tustin story. A good movie to watch if I may say so.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great ending to a gripping triology
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 1, 2021
You have to love a great revenge story. While the trilogy was slightly dark, particularly in comparison to Whitney’s other books, I loved it and it was exactly what I needed to get out of my book funk. Really loved Michael in all his villainous glory! Great ending to a gripping trilogy.

Reviewed in India on February 26, 2021
Horrible terrible. I wish I could give negative. 3 short stories parading as a book. And bookacholic like me bought them all. What a waste of my money and time. I wish bad food and terrible books had a refund back policy for wasted calories and time. After reading the book my only feeling was of being duped. Though I have this author earlier and it was ok type books but now I would be wary of buying again.
