About the author

Never passing up the opportunity to speak about himself in the third person, M.D. Presley is not nearly as clever as he thinks he is. Born and raised in Texas, he spent several years on the East Coast and now waits for the West Coast to shake him loose. His favorite words include defenestrate, callipygian, and Algonquin. The fact that monosyllabic is such a long word keeps him up at night.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2022Great manual for all those who want to write and don't know what they have to do before writing.
The whole book is great and even if you are not a beginner in a writing you can learn a lot while reading it.
My favorite part was about researching. Many times I stop reading a story or a novel when I realize that the author didn't do proper research about the topic he or she writes about. I hate hearing things like "But it is fantasy, I can do what I want!" or "I'm the writer, I make up the story, I don't have to be accurate, no one will notice!" - Oh, yes they will. Trust me, they will.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2021It gave me a lot of questions and aspects I hadn't thought about yet, which has sparked some ideas. Overall I recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2023I was struggling with a ghost writing project when I came across this book. Skimming through the chapters helped me world build and give context to some concepts I hadn't thought about. Being able to add some richness to my ideas really improved the first draft of the final product.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2020An amazing piece of work, and the perfect companion to Presley's Worldbuilding For Fantasy Fans And Authors (Forging Fantasy Realms Book 2). A must read for anyone interested in worldbuilding for fantasy novels or games.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022This isn't prompts more so it's a list of things to think about when world creating. Most of which I already knew. Definitely for the newbies to world building. I'm glad this was free otherwise I would probably want my money back...
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2021Not what I expected, but will be a brilliant resource to refer to when developing a fantasy plot. An essential aspect being the social laws and elements in any world, most if not all are discussed here and provide a fabulous starting point for writers.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021Excellent stuff.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2022The writing activities in this document really helped me flesh out certain details of a fantasy world I'm developing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Level of Worldbuilding
This was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve gone through it, created a doc with all the questions I can reuse. I went through the book, reading the elaborations that go with each question, and answered them in the doc. I mark those not applicable, and put a TBD for those I need to work on, so I get an iterative way of doing my world building. Highly recommended. It really makes you think of the possibilities, which is what I want, not a massively detailed list of items.
