Title: “Beautiful Betrayal” (book #1 in the Scandalous Series) by Lisa Renee Jones. Tropes: Billionaire Romance, Second Chance, Forced Proximity, Touch Her and Die. Overall Rating: 3⭐️’s for plot and 1-2🌶️ for spice. • I went into this book completely blind and had never read anything by the author before, so I had no pre-existing expectations which is a good thing because the book was fine. No great, not horrible. The chapters were super short which I appreciated, but I thought the writing was very repetitive and the book could have been shorter. I will still share some of my favorite quotes below: • - Page 12: “You interest me, now more than ever. I’m going to kiss you now unless you tell me to stop. I don’t think you should do that. That’s not stop, Mia. I know. Know this, Mia, the next time I kiss you, I won’t stop”. -Page 137: “You fill all the empty places in this home. You fill all the empty places in me, and you’re the only one who knows they exist. Because I trust you, Mia”. -Page 229: “I don’t want to try to be perfect anymore. I want to revel in how imperfectly wonderful you are. You are the glue that holds all my broken pieces in place. You make me whole again”.

    I think that I read Mia and Grayson's Story as part of the Dirty Rich series. But it was so very good to read their story all in one book 📖📚. Mia was working for Grayson Bennett's story. As Lisa Renee Jones does so well, she wrote a story that contains lies, betrayal, suspense and most of all romance. It was a very well written suspenseful story about the life of the rich and those associated with them, especially if it is a romantic involvement. Loved this story as I knew I would. I would highly recommend this book 📚📖 and any book that catches your attention by Lisa Renee Jones. It was a great read and I am definitely back to reading those books I have not read by Lisa Renee Jones.

    Lisa has an incredible way of transporting her readers into the world of her characters. I've read a few of Lisa's books and now I'm on a Lisa binge.

    Greyson and Mia, wow, what a couple. This is probably one of my favorite second-chance romance books. The flashbacks are beautifully integrated, perfectly explaining Mia and Greyson's current moods and the depth of their relationship.

    Mia is a strong, intelligent woman who, in the beginning, wanted to make a name for herself. She sought respect for her achievements, and ultimately, this ambition contributed to their breakup. The insecurity of dating a billionaire allowed enemies to slip in and destroy what they had. Mia's insecurities are very realistic, and her fear of waiting for the other shoe to drop in a seemingly perfect relationship is completely understandable.

    Greyson is truly the perfect man. Despite his faults, he is perfect in his love for Mia. He loves her from top to bottom, and nothing can change his mind. No matter how much hurt Mia caused him, he loves her like no other. He is confident, caring, dominant, and a force of nature. I love how he wasn't afraid to show his love for Mia, respected her, and cared for her deeply.

    I love how quickly they came together after not seeing each other for six months. With this couple, you can feel the love and regret once the lies are exposed. Watching them work through their issues together made this book even better!

    Overall, Lisa has crafted a compelling story with deeply relatable characters. The journey of Mia and Greyson is filled with love, regret, and the triumph of working through their issues together. Yes, this book tends to be mushy but it worked. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good second-chance romance.

    I really wanted to love this story, it was very hyped up but I felt it fell quite short of expectations. The biggest struggle for me was the flashback writing style. It felt very choppy and kept me from really enjoying it.

    The general plot was fine. Mia and Grayson break up over a misunderstanding that felt like betrayal. Now they’re back for another chance but an enemy is trying to take it all away from them. It felt very generic and I just never really got into it and never had that “have to see what happens next” feeling.

    For those looking for spice, there’s a little bit. Not fade to black or closed door, but also not super descriptive. So if you want steamy romance this might not be for you. Also rather than any of the other common terms to describe lady parts, the author used “her sex” or “my sex” through the entire book- which is fine but not something I personally enjoy reading.

    Overall it was an okay read but I don’t think I will continue the series.

    The book captures you from the start. There are flash backs which fill you in on how the couple got to where they are in their relationship in the present. The book is written a way that keeps you turning the page. LRJ has such a way with words that gives you all the feels and makes you fall in love with the characters. You understand Mia’s reasoning for their breakups. I loved the plot and all the twists.

    BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL has two parts. The first part leaves us deciphering a betrayal, breakup, reunion, and danger. It is dual POV and dual timeline, but the past part of the timeline is nonlinear. It’s not my favorite way to have a story told, but I found this to be interesting enough.

    Grayson and Mia are all over each other. The story is full of angst, past hurts, protecting each other, and it’s a deep love going on but with a melancholy feel throughout. I’d call it a dark romance.
