Death's Obsession: With Bonus Content and Interior Design Hardcover – September 11, 2023
Purchase options and add-ons
This alternative cover comes with interior design and bonus content.
He’s coming for you.
Death is meant to come on a chariot of broken dreams or in the dark trenches of a storm, not in love letters and gifts.
He did not take my soul when I was meant to die. He did not want it all the other times that I’ve offered it to him on a silver platter. Yet, time and time again, he reminds me that I am his: His night monster, his dark love, his perfect other.
Death was the only thing keeping me alive. He watches me from his corner, taunts me with sweet messages, marks my body with his touch as I sleep.
He took the people that I love away from me. Still, no one believed me when I said that I saw the faceless man on the night of the accident.
No one can escape death.
Me? I’m chasing it.

About the author

From an early age, romance author Avina St. Graves spent her days imagining fantasy worlds and dreamy fictional men, which spurred on from her introverted tendencies. In all her day dreaming, there seemed to be a reoccurring theme of morally grey female characters, love interests that belong in prison, and unnecessary trauma and bloodshed.
Much to everyone's misfortune, she now spends her days in a white collar job praying to every god known to man that she might be able to write full time and give the world more red flags to froth over.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2025This book was poetry. Every sentence read felt peaceful like I was in an open green meadow looking at a beautiful view that could be tragic but it was beautiful. Death was nothing short of amazing he can be comforting in the most amazing way. Death is the warmth he brings and the cold he leaves when Lilith needs it most. LetumxLilith ❤️
Fav quotes:
“For what is death, in the face of life?”
“Death comes in shadows in the light; it does not need to wait for the dark. For him, I will come as a hurricane.”
“But if you ask me of my Lilith? I will tell you that she is everything. Every gust of wind, every fallen leaf, each drop of rain.”
“Even at the risk of losing it all, I would fall for her. For if I were Icarus and she were the sun, I would still fly to her with my waxen wings. Her beauty would be worth the pain that I would feel just to reach her.”
“Let me feel your waves crash against my skin, pulling me deeper into your depths so you will never be alone again."
"You are the sunrise after the storm. The new beginning and the dawn. You, my flower, are beauty personified."
“Death comes in the darkness and light, but for him, I will come in a storm.”
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2025“Death’s Obsession” is a 176-page novella by Avina St. Graves. It is a dark 🌶🌶 romance with trigger warnings that you will need to review, including trauma and death of family. This book explores themes such as trauma, mental health, death, self-discovery, and healing.
St. Grave’s explores the themes listed above VERY well. I didn’t expect to go on a journey of self-discovery alongside Lilith. Watching her struggle was hard. Watching her battle her own mind was hard. Seeing her float by was…hard. I understand the road she is on. While I am not completely alone, I understand the mental health strain she felt, questioning what is real versus what is not. I know what it is like to tread water when everyone else is swimming. It is hard. Seeing her blossom and begin to move forward with her grief was cathartic. St. Grave’s description of grief and acceptance is both well done and authentic.
I enjoyed the story, spice, and romance that blossomed in the book. Truly, I did. My only wish is that the last chapters were expanded on in a little greater detail. There was so much that seemed to be packed into the last pages. Although there was bonus content that did help bridge this gap, you have to sign up for the newsletter to receive it.
I picked this book up for the dedication (you need to read it, and it is true) and all of the reels that St. Grave’s made for the book, and was not disappointed. Read this book for steam, shadow daddies, and to watch a woman blossom. Maybe it’ll help you too, like it did for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2024Death’s Obsession has a lot of potential, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The plot itself is interesting enough to keep you hooked, but it falls a little flat in places, so I’d give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars. The pacing is a bit uneven, and while the story idea is great, it feels rushed in parts and could’ve been developed more.
The writing is where things get a bit tricky. There are moments where the wording feels awkward or confusing, and it’s clear the author is still working on their craft. It doesn’t ruin the story, but it does make certain parts harder to follow. A little more polish and attention to clarity would’ve helped the flow a lot.
What really stood out for me was the relationship between the two main characters. Despite the rougher writing, their connection is genuinely touching, and the way their bond grows over the course of the book is one of its best aspects. You can definitely feel the chemistry between them, and that was a highlight.
The spice in the story is also on point—it’s steamy without being over the top, and it adds some intensity to the dynamic between the characters. It’s a nice balance and definitely works for readers who enjoy a bit of heat in their books.
Overall, Death’s Obsession is a decent quick read, but it could’ve been so much more with a bit more development and a stronger writing style. It’s a good start, though, and I think if the author revisited it and expanded on the story, it could be really great.
I’d give this one an overall rating of 3.25 out of 5 stars. It’s not perfect, but there’s a lot of potential here, and it could be a fun read for anyone looking for a fast-paced romance with some spice.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2025Oh, how I wish i could go back and read this for the first time again. I finished it in one sitting.😭 I wish the book was longer. It was short, sweet, & to the point. I'm not sure what I was expecting in the end, but it still surprised me. In all, it is such a good storyline, I enjoyed the writing, and the spicy parts threw me for a loop cause getting tag teamed by Death & their spirit is wild. I'd recommend this to anyone who reads 🌶📖
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2025I couldn't put it down. Exactly what I've been missing! Who thought Death could be so appealing. Very enjoyable story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2025**spoiler alert** I read this book in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. It was beautifully written, and captivating from the start. The notes he’d leave her, how he would take care of her, gosh. Loved the MMC. The only reason it wasn’t a 5 star for me is because the end was a little confusing, and not my favorite, but still a great book overall. Realistically, I would rate 4.5/5, but since Amazon doesn’t have half stars, I’m giving it a 4. Great work!
** I had to come back and add to my review after I read the bonus chapter! The bonus chapter cleared up some things for me, I almost feel like it should’ve just automatically been added to the book, vs having to download the chapter and being considered a bonus. It explains more of why Death is obsessed, and how they actually know eachother. I recommend reading the bonus to 100% enjoy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is pure poetry
There are no words for how I feel about his book. The beauty in the words, the beauty in the meaning that’s left hanging in the air. The love in death. The contrast of how everyone begs for death and is scared on it and Lilith sees the stability in death. See’s that death is the only constant. The beauty of two souls intertwined for eternity and in death. Favourite book I’ve read this year and I’ll be ordered a physical copy to add to my collection. This book was pure art and I absorbed every word and took it into my soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Un conte macabre et attirant

Oh! I loved it to the T. What a beautiful book, fabulous writing, emotions are depicted so brilliantly 👏
I am in love with Letum, if death is so beautiful and kind, who would want to live. I would forever be ready to be with death, just saying.
