Guardian/Ward age gap romance I’m here for it. Dane is Camilla’s guardian for 2 years. Camilla thinks the sparks are flying from one side but what she doesn’t realize is Dane is the head of the Chicago mob. But all it takes is Camilla to sneak out of the luxurious cage Dane keeps her in and Dane to snap and not hold back after he finds out. I’m excited to read the next book about Fiona, Camilla’s best friend. Everything that happens is with Camilla of age, and Dane was set on keeping his distance but well that doesn’t work.

    This is a steamy age gap read. Camilla has been under Dane’s guardianship ever since her parents died two years ago and he has been keeping his distance. He is always working and she is wondering what she has done. She figures he must not like having her around and wonders why he stepped up to be her guardian if it seems like such an inconvenience. Dane sees Camilla as more than an inconvenience, but with his job, he can’t have her around. He would put a target on her back and he couldn’t live with himself if anything happened to her. She doesn’t know what he really does and he plans to keep it that way. He just needs her to graduate and start college far away. Camilla though has other ideas. You have to read and find out just how far she is willing to go to get the man she wants. What will happen when all the secrets are revealed?

    I really liked this darkishly sweet age-gap romance by Darcy Rose. Dane has been Camilla's guardian for two years. They have both wanted each other, but Dane is determined to keep Camilla safe by keeping her separate from his life. He is the head of a mob family and a war is brewing. Sending her away to college makes sense to him. Camilla just isn't willing to go. I'm looking forward to her friend Fiona's story next. TW for kidnapping and physical violence.

    A fast paced story with two characters who are equally intertwined with each other. I loved the quickness of their romance. I liked the well crafted scenes which drew me into their drama. Enjoyable.

    Nothing stands out about the story itself but it is entertaining.

    Age-gap, mafia romance with a grumpy man? Yes please!

    Camilla is under the guardianship of Dane as her parents passed away when she was seventeen. It is now two years later and Camilla is madly in love with Dane and doesn't understand why she has to go to college across the country and away from him.

    What she doesn't know is that Dane is in charge of one of the Mobs in Chicago and is very much in love with her too. So what happens when a rival mob takes Camilla after their first night together?

    Camilla and Dane get their happy ending in this stand-alone book in a series.

    Small squick on my part which is the only reason this got knocked down to a 4-star rating is Dane was lusting after a seventeen-year-old. Not something I'm okay with just with the ick factor.

    Outside of that, I loved how Dane wanted to protect Camilla from the bad in his world, and that world of her father. But I also feel Camilla would have made better choices if she had known more. I also loved that there was no judgment from his second-in-command when he learned about Camilla and Dane together.

Dane is away all of the time on business and hardly talks to her when he is home. Head of the Chicago mob. Deaths. War. Get her away to safety. Love on both sides. Together at last. Kidnapped. Frantic. Searching. Searching. Found at last but is she badly injured from the ordeal?

    This is a really good book but I’m left wanting more story which is why I’m not a massive fan of short stories. I hate having unanswered questions at the end of a book. It’s packed with suspense & lots of steam 🔥🔥. Well worth a read.
