    Short and not so sweet, this delivers on its promise to be steamy with a touch of the forbidden. It’s got Whitney G’s distinctive writing style - a light feel that reads quickly, solid dialogue, and plenty of steamy moments - pared down to only the essentials. We get a feel for the relationship via online letters before this smoking hot novella moves into the heart of the story. It’s shorter and sexier than what I normally read, but not a bad way to spend an hour or so.

    I won’t spend a lot of time on plot details because... well, there aren’t a ton. This is a quick and dirty read, not one of the author’s traditional full-length novels, and there’s not a ton of development to the story. Essentially, these two have been exchanging letters through an app for the past 7 months. They’ve stayed in the friend zone until now, but the heroine is a romance author who needs some inspiration for steamy scenes. Things escalate quickly and suddenly they’re meeting in person.

    If you’re reading this because you love Whitney’s work, just be aware that this is MUCH shorter and much more over the top than her usual. The writing is mostly solid, but definitely could’ve benefited from another round of editing. I also think there was a lost opportunity to explore the forbidden storyline. It’s basically a non-issue for the couple after the shock wears off, so those who were excited about a dad’s best friend story may be disappointed and those who were turned off by the premise didn’t have much to be worried about. I knew going into this that it was going to be short and sexy so expectations were set low. For that reason, I was tempted to rate this higher but the ending was so dumb that I just couldn’t do it. Sorry, but it’s true. All in all, I loved the letter aspect and think there’s potential for a better story in here but it needed just a little more development to get there.

    I loved how this love story unfolded. It starts with 7 months of friendship between Dane and Christina. They share what is happening in their daily lives treading carefully away from intimate topics. That all changes when Christina gets writers block, and she asks for Danes help. She not only gets the sex scene, but Dane now wants to meet. From the first time they had sex, it was clear that their chemistry was over the top. Who cares that Dane is your dad’s best friend! Everything can be overcome when you find that special someone that completes you.

    The story is full of sarcasm, wit, humor, steam and all the good emotions. I loved this novella. It was perfect. I was so quickly pulled into this story and loved the characters. It’s a wonderful light read for the summer. I can’t wait for the next in the series!
