A Classroom Must Have STEM Book
Why STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)?
Introducing your kids to STEM topics has been a trend with parents wanting the best for their children. This book is an example of combining art and engineering to make such topics accessible to children.

About the author

Andrew Sario is a Professional Systems Engineer and the Founder of Engineering IRL from Australia with a Filipino background who wants to help people learn complicated concepts and how anyone can learn from these ideas. Through apps, podcasts, articles and books this is one of the core messages.
Andrew is an experienced engineer across multiple industries such as energy and transport and is a compelling storyteller. Andrew Publishes written articles on the Engineering IRL website, develops and builds network infrastructure and hosts the Engineering IRL podcast.
Andrew Sario is a Husband and Father dedicated to his family and in particular is passionate about his childrens education, happiness and success.
Learning begins with children and his children's books are designed to encapsulate the core idea of a concept and introduce it early in their journey prior to learning it in school. More often than not kids are encouraged to memorize and repeat things to learn. The idea is not to remove this part of the learning process but to give the conceptual part of the story allowing kids to begin to understand why any of what they are doing matters.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025In this fantastic book, children will learn what an engineer can do! They will see all the various things they can do. From building bridges, to making drones, computers programming, and creating things to make cars work. The field of engineering is endless as we see in this book. Perhaps it may encourage children to choose this as a career path. Overall the book is simple, fun, and easy to follow. 😊
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2025The Engineer’s Duck is a delightful children’s picture book designed to introduce young readers to the fascinating world of science, invention, and engineering. Featuring simple, colorful illustrations, the artwork is charming and well-suited to capture the attention of children. Written in rhyme, the text aims to be playful, though the rhythm occasionally feels uneven, and some rhymes may seem a bit strained. A prose format might have offered a smoother reading experience. Despite this, the book effectively highlights the breadth and importance of engineering in a fun and engaging way. With its cheerful tone and lovable duck character, The Engineer’s Duck provides an enjoyable and accessible introduction to engineering for little learners.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025Who knew STEM was all around us! So, I'm not really into the science stuff like some people, but I homeschool so I kinda have to cover science. This was such a cute, fun book introducing all the different ways STEM is found in our everyday life.. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a book to introduce STEM into your curriculum or otherwise.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025This story is great for children who may be interested in anything STEM related. There are so many possibilities with the field and children have many things to choose from. This provides a nice breakdown. Looking forward to more in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025This is a cute book with cute illustrations and I do think it's a fun way of introducing STEAM content to little ones. I gave it 3-stars only because I kind of wanted more out of it. I think I wanted it to be either what it promises in the latter books in the series, which are supposed to involve slightly deeper dives into each engineering topic, or an actual story. As it stands, it kind of feels like a board book with a lot of one liners on each page. The other reason is because I found the hand pointing illustrations a bit too much. Some of the words used in the story are beyond an emerging reader. (It really is a read aloud book.) And if you are engaging an emerging reader then it seems like the emphasis should be on the phonetic sounds. A hand pointing to the whole word does't really help with decoding the word. But overall, it's still a cute book, with cute illustrations.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2025A lovely and well thought out children's book, with original images of excellent workmanship and a story of cleverness and friendship. The right gift for all young minds with an inclination towards engineering and well-made works, ready to discover the countless paths that the world can offer to reach their own fulfillment.
