Meet Me At Midnight: A Sweet Cinderella Rom-Com Retelling (Enchanted Hollow Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 84 ratings

With a past she can’t escape and a love she can’t deny, this Cinderella’s story is far from over…

I was supposed to return to Enchanted Hollow under very different circumstances: free of my stepmother's clutches. But thanks to a twist of, well, cruelty–I’m in charge of a high-profile celebrity wedding there. The catch? I have to execute it to my stepmother’s extremely high standards to get my life back.

Fairytale weddings and happily ever afters are my thing, so this should be an easy slam dunk. Except that my point-of-contact at Ever After Farms is my best friend’s older brother, Luke Jackson.

The problem? He doesn’t really approve of the town’s matchmaking antics. My celebrity bride, Holly, likely fell in love thanks to a little magic. To top it all off? It’s the busiest time of year for his family’s farm.

I’ve got a solid plan in place until our meet cute causes my emotions to be more tangled than the pumpkins in his patch. Then Holly assumes we’re a couple–hello fake relationship–and things spiral out of control. The deeper I get into wedding planning, the less according to plan everything goes.

Luke is determined to prove all the things I’ve believed wrong, but in the best ways. Maybe it’s time I borrow a little courage and write my own happy ending…

What a marvelous twist on a familiar fairy tale. In no time, I became totally invested in this story about Ella and Luke. The story is full of twists and turns and unexplained happenings. It is a sweet story of love and the difficulties and complications encountered as the couple realizes that they are meant to be together. I had great difficulty putting this book down. I wanted to read just one more chapter, and then another and another. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read about romance and families and small towns and doesn't want to worry about bad language or violence or sexual situations. This book is squeaky clean, and yet so very interesting. Enjoy!

I recently got a lot of books from a fairy tale sale - this was one of them. While you can definitely tell which story this lines up with, it doesn't follow the fairy tale exactly, and I love the changes the author made - its a bit of small town, interwoven fairy tales, and a slice of life. The main town is a place where magic is not just a possibility, but a fact of life. Also, magic has a price, and it must be paid (noted multiple times in the book).
I am very excited to read the other books and see where the other characters end up.
Also, this is a sweet/clean story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance

    Luke + Ella

They have known one another a long time. They live next door to each other and have spent a lot of time talking but never realized it. This town is a magical town with enchanted letters and Luke & Ella have been sending letters to each other. One day the letters stop and it is because Ella moves away due to her evil step-mother. She’s back on Luke’s farm after 10 years to help plan a wedding. Luke is now a single dad and quickly realizes that he still cares for Ella. He decides he is going to risk it all and write one more letter and see if he gets a response. He has a feeling it has been Ella this whole time.
This book was a very sweet love story & I really liked how Luke encouraged her to find her voice and stand up for what she wants. I am big fan of the best friend’s brother trope and loved all of the Friends references, too! I enjoyed the group text with his siblings and the bucket list!

This book has Cinderella vibes with a fairy godmother, pumpkins, & magic.

    —Quotes
✨”I’m choosing to be here,” he replies, a little more forcefully. “No matter who you are to me: friend, family, girlfriend… please don’t question where I want to be.”
✨Inside, that woman is an explosive ball of sunshine, desperate to light up the world around her.
✨”I won’t stop reminding you that you’re wanted, Ella. Without conditions, without strings,” he breathes. The words settle against my heart, soothing the ache that’s lived there for years.
✨I once thought she needed a knight on a white horse to sweep her away, remove her from the things that caused her pain. Ella doesn’t need anyone to rescue her—she’s always been braver than she’s given herself credit for.
✨Luke feels like home because he is. He’s warmth, safety, love, and compassion, wrapped up in this wonderful package that has always accepted me for who I am.

This was such a cute take on making a contemporary fairy tale, and I loved it. There was unexpected twists and turns, and lots of lovable characters and hilarious moments (family group texts were my favorite!). You definitely come to know and love the characters, and the romance was so sweet and great! Sometimes there was a little more telling rather than showing, as well as a bit of a rush to the story, but overall such a great book!

Meet Me At Midnight is a delightful tale. I am not a huge fan of fairytale retellings but yhe cover caught my eye so I gave it a try. I am so glad I did. I love everything about this modern day story. The characters of Enchanted Hollow are delightful, well most of them are. The stepmother is horrible and Ella has a long journey to find her HEA. I loved the magical mailboxes and letters. The fairy godmother, magic and wicked characters all combined to make this a charming tale. The ending is swoony and leaves me with all the feels. I am excited to keep reading the series and find out how the other stories go.
Excellent clean series with no language or agenda. The kisses are sweet. I would let my younger teen read this.

I received a free ebook but really loved the story so I had to buy a paperback. This is book 1 in the Enchanted Hollow Series and there are threads that are introduced in this story that will be further developed as the series continues on. Meet Me At Midnight is told through Ella and Luke's pov and is must read for modern fairytale lovers, especially those who love Cinderella.

    CW: read the author's note
Spice: kisses that don't get too heated

As soon as I started reading Luke and Ella's story, I knew I was going to love it. Anyone who has watched Once Upon A Time will enjoy the similar vibes, though rest assured that this story is original. Upon meeting Ella, it's easy to feel for her as she's doing her best to get by and feel like she's enough. It was beautiful to see the connection she had with Luke and how he encouraged her to find her voice and go after what she wanted. As for him, his heart had been bruised and I loved how it healed because of his friendship with Ella. Aside from their individual journeys and romance, I loved the banter and relationships that Luke had with his family and how they made Ella feel cared for. I liked the small town setting, the light fantasy elements, and it was interesting to see how the author incorporated elements of the original tale. Overall, there was nothing I disliked about this book. This was great introduction to the series and I can't wait to read more of it.
