Hi, I'm Claire. When I'm not working with my inspiring clients throughout the world, I share my experiences of autism and narcissism through my writing. I live in the West Coast of Scotland and enjoy tapping away in coffee shops, spending time with my family and curling up with my cats.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2021This beautifully written book made me laugh and cry and left me with a deep sense of self-awareness, validation and self-compassion, that years of therapy and even training as a psychotherapist, couldn't achieve.
I was stunned to get behind the typical male stereotype of ASD to see how it manifests and impacts women in ways that are very often overlooked or dismissed. As such, I see this book as essential reading for anyone who diagnoses or works with children or adults with ASD, for all women who have ever hidden their essence, for fear of being simultaneously 'too much and not enough' and for anyone who wants to understand and support their mothers, daughters, sisters and friends with diagnosed or undiagnosed ASD.
At 55 years old this book has taken me on a roller-coaster of emotions, resulting in a sense of excitement for the future and a desire to reclaim and redefine my life, in a way that embraces my unique being and values my contribution to the world. Thank you Claire Jack for your exceptional work in this field.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2021This book is simple, straightforward and very informative! From the part about diagnosis criteria to the part about authentic self actualization in special interests, career and family life, she writes with a kind and informative tone.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2021I found this book to be straightforward and very helpful as I begin my journey understanding autism.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2022I started reading it on Kindle after a reference from Psychology Today...I can't stop! Just ordered the paperback. This is the BEST book I have ever read on women with ASD.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2021I really enjoyed reading this book. I felt like I connected to a lot of the things the author spoke about and I liked that there were prompts to do at the end of chapters to help me progress.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023As a woman recently diagnosed as Autistic, I purchased this book mainly because of the title. It is written in a touchy-feely cheerleader style, which is not entirely a bad thing. It is nice to know that other late diagnosed women deal with some of the same challenges I experience. However, it can get repetitive and tiring. Additionally, there are so many grammar issues I wonder if this was even run by an editor. Also, and I think other Autistics would agree, why isn't the print justified? It's extremely distracting to read all wonky. Sorry, I tried, but can't recommend it as useful.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2023Having seen a few articles and interviews from the author I decided to check out her book. It's alright but wowed me less than Unmasking Autism and a few others I've read. I think largely because it can be fairly generic to self help advice all woman would get and I got a little burned out with the term authentic self. But the were some very good chapters and it breaks things down in digestible chunks.v don't regret reading it but I may have skimmed at times
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2022The author total lost me at her insistent diagnosis visit to her doctor insisting on a diagnosis telling the dr all the characteristics of a woman with autism. I was blatantly obvious she was at the wrong dr for her diagnosis. It feels I’m getting misinformed from the wrong person in this book based by that visit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing & Practical
I hadn't realised there were exercises, which as I sat lazily in the garden sun with my feet up and a glass of wine threw me to begin with. I certainly wouldn't be doing them at that moment! I thought how interesting though. As well as a personal journey this book gave examples from the many other women the therapist had seen, which reading about so many differing experiences was so relieving and insightful. There was always something for me to relate to. And the exercises I am sure will be useful as I navigate my way in to a world of understanding myself in a more insightful and gentle way than ever before.
If you have your diagnosis or are waiting for it, this book will help. I have read so many adult female autism books since the waiting list for assessment is so long. This is the best so far in being practical, having great research and connecting on a personal level all at the same time. Claire Jack's could have done with me as her proofreader though - but that's one of my superpowers haha! Well done. Highly recommended on your path to autistic authenticity.

1.0 out of 5 stars poorly edited (e.g., Asperger's is spelled as "Aspberger's"!)
I would like to say that this is a good and helpful book, since books on ASD in women are rare, but I just can't. The writing style and content is simplistic, especially for someone with a PhD. Note: The author's PhD is in anthropology, not in psychology, and therefore, her expertise in the topic of ASD is questionable, or at least limited/biased by her own experience, which is important, of course, but is not how the book is framed. Finally, the book needs a competent editor: The consistent misspelling of "Asperger's" (as "Aspberger's") is just unacceptable. In short, I was very hopeful when I ordered the book, and very disappointed after reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
What an amazing book. As an undiagnosed female with so many questions, this book has put my whole life into perspective. A must-read for all women who are feeling lost and maybe on the spectrum.
