Worthy in Every Way (The Montford Cousins Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 121 ratings

Georgiana Darcy wants nothing more than to fall in love, yet her innate reserve as well as a traumatic event in her past makes her uneasy in company—particularly in the company of gentlemen. She desires a husband and family, but how is she to manage such a feat when she will not even consider partaking of a London Season? She cannot so much as hold a meaningful conversation with most men, which does not bode well for falling in love.

Charles Granville, the Earl of Bath, never expected to find himself without his hearing, but the unexpected became his truth. Now, his life is different; it has been altered and his options are not what they once were. No lady of worth desires one who cannot hear. After all, most believe those who are deaf are also dullards. Who is he to change their mind?

When Georgiana’s sister-in-law Elizabeth and Charles’s sister-in-law Jane, the Duchess of Albemarle conspire to throw her into the company of Lord Bath, Georgiana finds herself suddenly staying with the duke and duchess who are caring for the recovering earl. She is caught unawares by their matchmaking, yet, unlike others of his sex, Lord Bath has a way that does not make her ill-at-ease. In fact, she is drawn to him. She wishes to learn to speak to him and enjoys his company. However, he is vehement he is not seeking a wife—that he will never marry. The barriers to her heart are crumbling with every moment spent in his company, but how is she to convince him he is worthy of love—that he is worthy in every way?

This series has been such a grand sweeping story arc when you look back and consider the first through to this last book. I’ve loved it so much, anticipated the next one with excitement each time , reread some, looked forward to and purchased the audio versions.

I’ve loved this series and this book which is Georgiana’s story is a gorgeous finale. Wow. I would rate this an R for explicit bedroom scenes. Our dear Georgie is quite the passionate grown up girl. All that pianoforte playing and exposure to the amazing music available to her at that time I think translated to her loving her chosen hero. The story was heart wrenching as our Hero, Charles didn’t feel very heroic. Having gone deaf in the past couple of years his (using a twentieth century term,) self esteem has plummeted and he feels unworthy of wedding any lady let alone the woman he has come to admire and eventually love. There are some dramatic scenes that demonstrate his beliefs of his unworthiness. One was his and Georgiana being at the height of danger. The other one made me so angry I wanted to push someone off his horse, maybe into a ditch of mud, maybe a really deep ditch. His and Georgiana’s moments of passion were fraught with the danger of being discovered and yet emotionally beautifully romantic. And explicit. I know I said that already. I was so frustrated with Charles as he denied his love for Georgie.

I loved this Georgiana as she longed for her own children and husband and her own home. I felt her painful loneliness and longing. The book is beautifully written, as we have come to expect from this gifted writer. Highly recommended but reading the series in order is best.

I borrowed this from KU and volunteered to leave a review. This was Lord Charles and Georgiana Darcy’s love story. He was introduced in the previous books in the series. Georgiana Darcy was considered an honorary Montford cousin and grew up right before our eyes. She came into her love story as a frightened shy girl and ended up a strong confident woman who knew what she wanted and that was Lord Charles. They had to fight for their happy ever after and Lord Charles nearly died in an incident while helping his tenants. An epilogue wrapped everything up nicely.

    The Montford Cousins Series:
Book 1: An Endeavour to be Worthy [Elizabeth Montford & Fitzwilliam Darcy]
Book 2: A Gentleman of Worth [Lady Amelia Montford & Sir Anthony Green]
Book 3: A Worthy Woman [Nicholas Montford & Lady Fiona Fitzgerald]
Book 4: Worthy of her Love [Jane Montford & Henry Granville, the Duke of Albemarle]
Book 5: Worthy in Every Way [Georgiana Darcy and Lord Charles Granville, the Earl of Bath]

It will really help enjoy this story more if you have read the previous books in this series. Each book takes you through each cousin and their future spouse starting with Darcy and Elizabeth. This was a nice book to bring two characters, we got to know more in the previous books, together. I liked getting get a glimpse into the future with all the characters.

I found this book to be a great disappointment. Normally, I love Georgiana Darcy but I found I couldn’t care about her in this book nor could I care about Charles, which surprised me. I will definitely reread the other books in the series, but I don’t think I will ever read this book again.

Since Georgianna Darcy had such a small part in P&P this was a sweet imagining.
My favorite part is her becoming sure of her worth. While they anticipated their vowels LL Diamond did a wonderful job of making me panic in parts of the story.

I was looking forward to this story, but was ultimately disappointed. I just couldn’t bring myself to care about either Charles and Georgiana. The repeated frissons, shivers, heavy bosoms got old, and I skimmed the bedroom scenes. Plus we had none of the characters who made past books so enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final installment of an excellent series.
Reviewed in Canada on September 3, 2024
In book four of L.L. Diamond’s ‘The Montford Cousins’ series, readers were introduced to Henry Granville, Earl of Albemarle, who marries Jane Bennet. In that book, we also learned how Henry’s younger brother, Charles, loses his hearing. I loved Charles and was thrilled to learn that his character would be reprised in book five, which focuses on his and Georgiana Darcy’s story. She has been made an honorary Montford cousin through her brother’s marriage to Elizabeth Bennet, a Montford granddaughter.

As with all previous books in the series, the author includes all the Montford cousins and their spouses, and the Montford grandparents. In this book, Jane and Henry, take the most prominent supporting roles. Georgiana is staying at their estate after Jane and Elizabeth hatch a matchmaking scheme to attach their younger sister to Charles, both feeling they would perfectly suit one another.

Losing the ability to hear becomes a crushing blow to Charles, making him a slightly broken man and undermining his confidence and self-worth. Georgiana comes to love him, but he is insistent that his new circumstances make him less worthy of being a good husband, feeling he is unable to adequately protect her.

Once again, I cannot express enough how much I have enjoyed this entire series. Each volume has been a thoroughly engaging and delightful read—with some well-written adult scenes added for readers who enjoy some spice added to their JAFF.

Looking forward to the audiobook version to accompany this book and make the final installment (sadly) of the series of audiobooks complete. Deborah Balm has been fabulous as the narrator.

I highly recommend this book and the entire binge-worthy series!

    Adult content.

5.0 out of 5 stars An extremely worthy final book!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 3, 2024
I’ve really enjoyed this series and Georgiana’s story finishes it off nicely. Poor Charles is so stubborn, feeling his deafness makes him unsuitable as Georgiana’s husband, despite his overpowering love for her. She learns to sign to be able to talk to him and soon realises her initial attraction is actually love. The only problem she has now is convincing Charles that they can’t live without each other! A difficult problem indeed! I absolutely loved it ❤️❤️
