Accidental Attachment Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 8,462 ratings

A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she’s written about her crush…on himincluding every detail of the hot, steamy “physical activity” she’s fantasized about happening between them.

And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light.

Brooke Baker has been through a lot in her thirty-one years of life.

A divorce.
A career change.
A move to New York City from “small-town” Ohio.
Not to mention, she has a bit of a medical condition that involves occasional fainting spells, mild embarrassment, and the companionship of her adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji.

But none of it has prepared her for
this.

None of it prepared her for Chase Dawson.

Strong jaw, blue eyes, cut muscles, and a perfect swoop of superhero-worthy black hair, Chase’s features are those of a book boyfriend and then some. Obviously, Brooke would know—she literally filled an entire manuscript with it.

A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see.

Will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined with Chase
in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?

Review

Hooks Books N Coffee ~ "What I loved most was the banter and sexual tension between Chase and Brooke. And we can't forget the superhero of the story, Brooke's service dog Benji!"

Jeeves Reads ~ "A slow-burning treat, this exceedingly low angst romance is easily one of my new favorites from this writing duo. The hero is one of the biggest cinnamon roll sweethearts I've ever had the pleasure to read about, and the forced proximity was a major win. With tons of chemistry, plenty of humorous and quirky moments, and two characters who are incredibly easy to like, I had no trouble getting emotionally invested in the romance right away."

Tweet Preet Books ~ "I absolutely loved the book from the description and the book lived up to the hype. With a fresh storyline, wonderful leads and sidecast, and cameos from the other series, this book is not one to miss"

Booksta Nerd ~ "One of the strengths of Accidental Attachment is the chemistry between Brooke and Chase. The steamy scenes between them are satisfying and will leave readers wanting more."

Elle Read Books ~ "I was instantly drawn by the premise of this book and it did not disapoint. I really loved Brooke's character and her sense of humour and I am a huge fan of the disability inclusion in this book; life has its obstacles and flaws and this is what is missing in so many books. Chase was a book boyfriends dream. I devoured this book in a solid six hour session and have zero regrets. If you enjoy the forced proximity trope, then this one is for you."

K Kalba Books ~ "don't miss this story, it's funny, heartfelt and steamy, with a non-toxic, swoony MMC"

Wagon Wheel Reads ~ "I started this book off laughing. The second she drunk emailed her editor (whom she is crushing on) the wrong book I was in hysterics."

Lynds Reads ~ "I don't think I have ever laughed so much while reading a book. Accidental Attachment is such a fun light hearted read that you will find you can't seem to put down. Brooke is so awkward and hilarious you can't help but love her. On so many levels I felt could relate to her sense of self doubt, anxiety and insecurities. Don't even get me started on Chase! Gosh, he is such a softie and his love for books was so relatable & endearing. His quick wit and overall charming personality made him so easy to love. Then you throw in Benji, the superhero service dog, who honestly could have carried this story lol just a recipe for perfection if you ask me."

Cat By The Sea Reads ~ "Such loveable characters that had me turning the pages with anticipation and hearts in my eyes. I've never read anything quite as amazing as this book, it made me sad, filled with laughter and joy all at the same time. I can relate to the anxiety and overthinking that happens between characters. Truly a must read."

Read With Syd ~ "Brooke's inner monologue literally had me howling a lot of the time. Some of the things that would come out of her mouth were so freaking relatable. She is such a weird, fun loving, goof ball. I loved her so much she was a great main character. Chase really is the dream book boyfriend. If you looked up the definition for cinnamon roll he would be in there. The angst and sexual tension between the two of the characters was off the charts."

Book Club with Katelyn ~ "If you need a book that will make you laugh out loud, this one is for you!!!"

Books Tea Happy ~ "Brooke is quirky, funny, scared, passionate and very talented. Chase is handsome, smart and dedicated to his work. He was also very nice and passionate about what mattered to him. I really loved Brooke's connection with her dog Benji and I loved the addition of both of their sisters. I'm looking forward to Sammy's story! This was a fun read with a misunderstanding getting in their way but they work their way through it and get the happy ever after we want."

Currently Booked ~ "This book is everything. From the quirkiness, to the witty banter, to the adorably super service dog. I loved everything about this story and the lovable characters that came with it."

Flippin and Sippin MN ~ "It hooked me right away and had me laughing & smiling throughout. Brooke and Chase's romance was entertaining, hilariously funny, and the steam was definitely fogging up the windows of that motorhome. I couldn't get enough of Benji and I loved all of the superhero and Dolly Parton references."

Paperback Princess AU ~ "Laugh out loud funny and wildly entertaining, Accidental Attachment will consume you from start to finish! The chemistry between Chase and Brooke is impeccable and I adored every second of their story. Wonderful character development, writing that feels so genuinely authentic and a truly compelling storyline... there's literally nothing not to love about this book!"

Thecliteraturecorner ~ "These two talented queens wrote a whole little community of lovable characters that jumped right off the pages and into my heart within a story I will be recommending for years to come."

Good Books Clear Minds ~ "I kept switching between laughing and crying towards the second half of the book that I was on an emotional rollercoaster. I loved the road trip trope, the book being about Chase, and all the shenanigans Brooke ended up doing. I quickly fell in love with Brooke and Chase, but specifically Brooke. I love a rambling, clumsy but cute heroine, it is one of my favorite character types and Brooke was adorable. Chase is an absolute sweetheart, as Brooke would say he is the perfect man. He went with her crazy plans, stood beside her and pushed to reach her dreams! I loved everything about this book!"

Jessi Peters Bookshelf ~ "Hooooly slow burn! Accidental Attachment is an epic love story where a crush turns into something so much sweeter and two amazing people find their place in one another."

Crazy Book Lover ~ "I was laughing out loud so many times at Brooke's inner thoughts and everything coming out of her mouth, she is just so funny. And Chase is the perfect book boyfriend, he is charming and supportive of Brooke, they are perfect together. And the side characters were amazing too, especially Benji the dog!"

Booked Up with Emily ~ "The one liners in this book were phenomenal!"

1st Max Monroe read… and won’t be the last

1st Max Monroe read… and won’t be the last
4.5 stars!! * Forced Proximity * Workplace (editor/author) * Secret crush * Slow burn * Dual POV * RomCom I can’t even imagine aCcidentally attaching the story that I based off me and the dreamy editor I have a crush on at my publishing company, but that’s what happened to Brooke Baker! It took me extremely too long to finish this one! I hate that it did! Sleep regression of a 4 year old is no joke. The girls did fantastic with Accidental Attachment. The banter so good. The MFC’s thoughts were thoughts that felt like they came straight from me. Chase Dawson is so much the dream guy! Thanks so much Net Galley and Max Monroe for the chance to read. This is my true and honest review.

When I saw this was almost 600 pages, I was a little worried the story would drag or there would be a lull in the middle, but that wasn’t the case. I was laughing from page one and never felt like the story was boring. It was definitely a slow burn, and the tension between Brooke and Chase was heavy, but it was so worth it in the end.

Brooke Baker was living her dreams, but like so many of us, was still struggling with imposter syndrome. So when she goes to send her next book to her editor, one that she’s not proud of, and accidentally sends the book she wrote about her crush, who just happens to be her editor, her world spirals out of control. She’s forced to either reveal her mistake or go along with the plan to punish her fantasy relationship.

Chase Dawson has a lot to prove in his new job as editor. He’s living his own dreams, having moved to New York to be close to his sister and landing his dream job working with one of the hottest up and coming authors. When he reads her new manuscript, which is not the book he was expecting, he loves it so much he is determined to get it published. He puts his new job on the line and volunteers to be Brooke’s driver on her cross country tour for her Netflix series.

As they tour the country, Brooke and Chase get to know each other on a deeper level and both fall hard and fast. They, along with Brooke’s service dog Benji, experience life in a mobile home while promoting the Netflix series based off Brooke’s fist series. Brooke and Chase both have wounds from the past that haven’t fully healed, but they find friendship that develops into so much more on their tour.

I loved all these characters! I thought 600 pages would be enough, but I still wanted more of Brooke and Chase. Especially after that bonus epilogue! I can’t wait for Noah and Brooke’s sister Sammy to find their way to a happily ever after next!

I read the warning about not reading it in public and still did it anyway, so I apologize to the people who gave me weird looks as I was laughing. this story is funny, sweet and just what you didn't know you needed.

Chase is an editor that picked up his life and moved to NYC to work at his dream job and to work under the in the business. He is the editor for Brooke Baker. One of the agencies top writers.
Brooke had a couple of very successful books that Netflix has picked up and turned into a tv series. She is suppose to be turning in her next book but she feels that is sucks and can’t figure out how to turn it around. She is a couple of bottle of wine deep when she can’t look at the book she is working on but opens up a book she is writing for herself that will never see the light of day. Brooke has a major crush on Chase since lying eyes in him. When the deadline was near she emailed Chase her book knowing it was trash. Imagine her shock when Chase told her that the book was amazing and he wanted to publish it and he loved River and Chive who are the characters of the book she wrote for herself using herself and Chase as inspiration. Her publisher wants a quick turn around so she needs to do her edits fast. This is at the same time Netflix is wanting her to do press for the upcoming series and appear at the premiere in L.A. She refuses to fly so she is now stuck in a RV traveling the country with Chase as the driver so they can work on her book. What could go wrong?
This book was super funny and Brooke’s inner dialogue is the best. Max Monroe hit it out of the park with this one. It is AMAZING!

I generally love books by Max Monroe, but this was too slow. I was skimming the first 2/3 of the book, waiting for something - anything - to happen. I was bored. Based on this, I’m not sure if I want to read the next. I probably will at some point and give them another chance.

I was eagerly awaiting this book from the very first mention of it in Max Monroe’s newsletter. Max Monroe absolutely never fails to deliver a fun and engaging read and Accidental Attachment is another fantastic read. If they’re not on your auto buy author list yet please feel free to jump into my inbox so I can spread the good word of the happiness and fun a Max Monroe read can bring to your life.

The premise of this one had me dying with secondhand embarrassment and simultaneously laughing at the same time as I imagined a horror struck Brooke realizing her IRL fanfic was emailed directly to her crush by her newest enemy—spoiler alert it was her with a glass of wine and last minute deadline panic. I can totally appreciate this because I could and probably would totally pull a Brooke. Brooke is literally the most relatable character on the planet—She’s anxious, quirky with a fun lack of filter, and self deprecates with the funniest sense of humor. Brooke is perfect just as she is and her realization of that under Chase’s gaze is absolutely empowering to read. Chase is the ultimate cinnamon roll. Watching he realize, wrestle with, and ultimately go all in on his feelings is such a fun ride. I’m excited to see how the spin off turns out for some exciting developments. I’ll just be here excitedly waiting.

10/10 recommend this absolutely fantastic read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fab read from the MM ladies

Going into Accidental Attachment, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect…. but the gods, it was a fab read!

Full of laughs, from chuckles to full on belly laughs, reading at night while the o/h was sleeping, at points I was convinced I was gonna wake him up. Really should take the ladies pointers for where not to read them seriously!! LOL!!

Brooke was actually kinda relatable… not big on putting herself out there and meeting people. A wine lover (ok, more a chugger of wine!!) but if she didn’t like the vino so much her accidental attachment of the wrong manuscript wouldn’t have been sent to Chase!

Chase. Yeah, he was pretty perfect. Except when it came to a specific point. The call that Brooke made on his behalf, lordy, I was so happy it made his stand up for himself.
This guy had the patience of a saint, which given Brooke’s procrastinating on certain events, was a very good thing.

I loved Chase’s enthusiasm for Brooke’s new book and his determination that it was gonna be a success. On the flip side, Brooke kinda frustrated me a little, yeah she’d sent the wrong file and no, she didn’t fess up, but hell, help a guy out and have a little faith!!

The road trip, seeing this pair in close quarters, realising how they felt about the other and watching them fall was awesome. This pair were so attracted to each other, for good reason and they just fit, how could they not fall.

I completely adored Benji. He felt more human than canine at times and definitely got Brooke and her particular brand of crazy!! I did think Benj may have had a wardrobe as big as Brooke’s given his regular costumes changes!

This book was really funny, had some sweet moments, a couple of heart hurting instances and a whole helluva lot of heat - these two were combustible once they got started!

I liked the supporting characters, especially Mo, Chase’s sister. She was another crazy lady, but I got her too - we’ve all had a fan girl moment or two I’m sure! Brooke’s family were interesting - I’m especially looking forward to the next book - Sammy is gonna be fun to read about I’m sure.

The epilogue was really good and the bonus epilogue the ladies gave us was FAF, in an OTT way that only Brooke could envisage!

A definite recommended read. Grab yourself a copy, find a quiet spot and enjoy the madness!

A well written, funny romance with depth and lovely characters.

Loved heroine Brooke and her canine best friend Benji. Both were hilarious. Chase was such a dreamy hero. I enjoyed reading about how they came together and their forced proximity.
Together they were smouldering from chapter 1!
Mo and Sammy were my favourite in secondary characters.

The reason I didn’t give it more stars was because I didn’t like the final conflict and felt Chase definitely reacted over the top. I also needed more grovelling from his side.

It was also fun to read about Brooke’s books. I always love it when my heroines are authors. Its fascinating to read about their work and see inside their minds.
Epilogue was cute and can’t wait to read Sammy’s book.

    Recommended and safe.
