Amanda Cadabra and The Nightstairs: A humorous British cozy mystery (The Amanda Cadabra British Urban Fantasy Mysteries Book 8) Kindle Edition
Four strangers, one missing dog and a body. But Sunken Madley is just a quaint, peaceful English village. What does the 1000-year-old ruined priory have to do with it? The answer, as it so often does, lies in the past.
Detective Inspector Trelawney is fast exhausting the normal options. Only covert witch Amanda, with her grumpy feline familiar, has the means to step back 500 years, infiltrate the monastery and discover the truth.
Back they must go a fateful decision to shape history, a murder on hallowed ground and a deadly secret. Will Amanda and Tempest survive the perilous past and help solve the mystery in the present, before the killer strikes again?
'Delightful! Fun and funny! This is my first experience with Holly Bell, and as a dog person, I never thought I'd fall so deeply in love with a cat (Tempest). I honestly could NOT get enough of him!! The entire story is fun though, a wonderfully clean mystery packed with danger, intrigue, and (yes) murders. I was enchanted--a very fitting emotion for a quaint and often hilarious journey with a lovable witch and her even more lovable familiar.'
International Review of Books

About the author

Humorous and quintessentially English with excitement and magic.
Cat adorer and chocolate lover, British author Holly Bell’s life changed in a day. A best-selling author friend convinced Holly that she could write cozy mysteries, after many years' experience with non-fiction, photography and video making.
Holly devoured all of the Agatha Christie books long before she knew that Miss Marple was the godmother of the Cozy Mystery. Her love of JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings meant that her first literary creation in this area would have to be a cosy paranormal.
Having derived immense delight from the adventure of writing Amanda Cadabra and The Hidey-Hole and its 7 sequels to date, Holly has more in the pipeline.
Her favourite feline is a black cat called Bobby. He is black. Like her favourite hat. Purely coincidental.
Holly loves to hear from readers. Find her on amandacadabra.com/contact, Facebook.com/hbamandacadabra. She always responds in person.
The Amanda Cadabra Cozy Paranormal Mysteries (in order):
Amanda Cadabra and The Hidey-Hole Truth

Amanda Cadabra and The Flawless Plan
Amanda Cadabra and The Rise of Sunken Madley
Amanda Cadabra and The Hidden Depths
Amanda Cadabra and The Strange Case of Lucy Penlowr

- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2023I love the characters in this book! I feel as if I am a part of the village and I get to know all. It is a wonderful cute read and keeps me smiling. I read this book slower and in special places/time because I want to savor each word and page. I just love it! I can't wait for book 9!!! (Me squealing) lol
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2022When Amanda finds a body at the old ruins it unfolds a story that dates back to when the monasteries were disbanded. The past and the present interact in a story that is fun. The characters come alive through the writing, the plot is well turned out, and the history is accurate. Amanda, Tempest, the Inspector, and the other characters are fun. I highly recommend the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2023It’s rare that a series with so many books keeps my attention this long. This series is special. The author has created a story for each book, not repeated the same simple premise over and over.
It does, also, remain quintessentially British, to my never ending delight. With no current popular references I can recall, it could be taking place almost anytime in the last several decades. Because of that I think the story will stand the test of time. I continue to recommend it and look forward to reading future books with eager anticipation.
