    Jasmine has been staying with the capo dei capi of the Kansas City Famiglia since she was seven years old. Dario had become the capo the last few years. He is married to Catalina and they have a daughter. Their marriage was an alliance between the Kansas City Famiglia and the Roriguez Cartel. Jasmine meets Reinaldo (Rei) Roriguez, one of the sons of el Patron of the Cartel and a soldier, getting a drink of water in the kitchen. The attraction between them is undeniable. People from the Cartel are there for Christmas. Jasmine then meets Em Ruiz who walks in the theater room while she watching a movie. The attraction between them is undeniable, too. He gives her, her first kiss. Now she has the attention of both men from the Cartel. They both want to marry her.
    She then gets promised to another by the capo, Dario, after they all went on an excursion together to feel what it’s like to be normal. They get shot at by the Bratva. Of course, she doesn’t want that. Her feeling lean more to one than the other between Em and Rei. There’s tons of action in this book; mystery, suspense, lots of intensity and determination, too. Who does Jasmine end up with? Can a mafia man be just the opposite in a relationship? I loved finding out by reading this page turner book.

    I like the mystery in the beginning I thought both Rei and Em was going to have her at the same time until they got to the club and Rei let it be known he the one! Lol
    But I'm glad she ended up with who she did...they made a good couple. The storyline was good and kept you interested . I didn't like how she felt like a burdens and Dario didn't make it any better forcing her to marry Russian.But Rei wasn't going to
    let the go down.

    This is book #4 in the series. You can read each as a stand alone. I have read them all so I have the back stories on all the characters, as the books bring everyone back or has mention of them.

    Reinaldo Rodríguez & Emiliano Ruiz are both vying for Jasmine. Both have approached their family head's that they want to be married to Jasmine. Both men have been turned down for that privilege.

    Jasmine, has been with Dario Luciano, since she was 7/8 yrs old. Dario is her guardian since her sisters death a few years ago. Jasmine has never been considered a Luciano as her sister wasn't engaged or married to Dario. Jasmine is a part of Dario's life, and he's the only family member who has ever been really accepting of her. She's never been truly loved / accepted by the Luciano family. Always on the outside looking in.

    Dario - the Capo has told Jasmine that she will marry Zrdan Myshkin from the Russian Bratva. Which will hopefully mend the alliance with the Russians. However, Jasmine gets the creeps when she unexpectedly met with Zrdan who was stalking her in a bar.

    Reinaldo tells Dario a lot of information he found on the Bratva and Myshkin's family. Dario can't believe he didn't find that same information. Reinaldo sees Jasmine. He wants Jasmine. He pleads his case for her hand. Dario sees that he is in fact in love with Jasmine.

    Will Jasmine be safer with Reinaldo or with Dario? Will Jasmine be loved by Reinaldo and accepted by his family?

    Queens and Monsters is the fourth book in the Brutal Vows Series by Aleatha Romig. This story begins with both Reinaldo Rodriquez and Emiliano Ruiz vying for the attention of Jasmine Renner, the fiery redhead who is under the guardianship of the capo dei capi, Dario Luciano. The first few chapters had me tossing my allegiance back and forth between the two, not quite sure who I preferred. This intense and captivating story is the continuing saga of the precarious alliances between the Rodriquez cartel and the Luciano famiglia.

    While Reinaldo and Emiliano continue negotiations for Jasmine’s hand in marriage, their plans are somewhat thwarted when they learn the capo has other plans for Jasmine. Plans that may build other alliances, this time with Elizondo Herrera, head of the Bratva. The dangers of his choice are under strict scrutiny by Reinaldo as he becomes obsessed and risks it all, even death, to make sure Jasmine remains safe and becomes his.

    Her fate is in the hands of the capo unless Reinaldo can convince him that he is worthy of her hand, regardless of her last name or bloodline, which are the last of his worries. Tensions are high as Dario forbids any contact between Jasmine and her suitors, unbeknownst to them.

    I’m a huge fan of mafia romances. I love how their “alpha-ness” shows through, yet they have a softness for the woman in their life. Jasmine has been raised to know the rules, and she keeps Reinaldo at arm's length. She is naïve in ways and anxious to learn, and Reinaldo is up to the challenge of easing her into his life and teaching her all the ways that pleasure can be hers. The sexual tension between them is palpable and ready to explode. Aleatha keeps the tension building between them, and it totally works for this couple.

    The all-out action is a little lower-key in this book until the last quarter of the book. This is when all the parts start to fit together, and the excitement that Aleatha Romig always brings to the pages explodes. The cartel has taken some bold moves, which are sure to set retaliation in motion. Moves that cannot be undone and are sure to have your heart pounding. The characters who have been part of the series all along continue in each book, ensuring thorough enjoyment for the reader. Past characters continue their stories, and others finally get their story told. She ensures no one is left in the dark if they haven’t read previous books and still leaves enough unsaid to entice you to go back and enjoy all the books. The series would be best enjoyed by reading in order, but due to the excellent writing of the author, it isn’t a necessity.

    Emiliano may not have found his bride in Queens and Monsters, but there is another Luciano, Isabella, who has entered the scene and become of marrying age. His story will be next, and it promises to be another Aleatha experience.
