A Royal Mile (Return to Dublin Street Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 914 ratings

A steamy enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance from New York Times Bestselling Author Samantha Young.

It’s hard to stay in the friend zone when the attraction is this hot…

Going into my senior year of university at war with a member of the British royal family wasn’t in my carefully laid plans. Sebastian Thorne might be the grandson of a princess, but it’ll take more than a royal pardon to get me to forgive him for pretending to be someone he’s not.

But Sebastian is determined to be my friend. Even if it means signing up to a psych experiment just to get me to talk to him. Who knew a sincere apology and him saying my name in that posh English accent would make me weak in the knees?

This year was supposed to be about my dissertation and graduate school. Only, Sebastian has thrown my ordered world off kilter. He makes me bolder, more confident. A braver version of me.

Yet every lingering glance and stolen touch has me realizing one thing…

I’m falling for my best friend.

There’s just one problem. Sebastian has demons, ones that make him determined to keep me in the friend zone no matter the cost.

And even when temptation sends his walls tumbling down, the beauty we’ve found might not survive against the powerful will of outside forces…

This story consumed me and I couldn’t put it down!
I loved A Royal Mile! It completely consumed me and made my heart feel full. The emotion, the drama, the angst, and the amazing sexual tension had me rooting for Lily and Sebastian from the start. There was a slow burn that snuck up on me because I was so deeply invested in their story and lives, it was incredibly well done. I couldn’t get enough! Lily and Sebastian were everything. She’s smart, beautiful, and driven, though a bit insecure, while he’s dealing with some family stress and pain from his past. Their early tension and banter were fantastic, and I loved how Lily stood her ground while Sebastian worked hard to be her friend. I loved watching their friendship grow. I thought there was a wonderful build as their layers were peeled back and secrets were learned. I thought their chemistry was electric, full of a want and need they kept trying to deny. There were a lot of different, nuanced feelings that I loved. When their feelings finally collide, it was epic and perfectly timed. Their overall growth was excellent. I loved seeing Lily’s confidence grow and her choose herself when she needed to. Sebastian's healing from a past trauma was equally well done. I really liked how they championed each other in such a meaningful way. I adored the cast of characters involved. I enjoyed their friend group immensely and all the different dynamics. I loved Lily’s family and her chosen family. I liked Sebastian’s sister and Lily’s sister, January, as well, she was refreshing. I liked the tie-ins with Beth and Callan’s story from book one, and I’m already excited for Baird’s story in the next book. This book had it all - angst, drama, humor, romance, and heartfelt emotion. I loved the playful, entertaining moments that were mixed in, making it feel well-rounded and bringing in some levity when needed. It flowed nicely with excellent development. I love getting completely lost in a story and feeling every bit of it. I highly recommend this one!

This is the 2nd book in the series and follows Lily Sawyer & Sebastian Thorne. Lily is a senior at Edinburgh University studying to become a psychotherapist. She also runs a dating podcast with her two friends. Sebastian, a member of the British Royal Family (thirtieth in line to the throne), attends the same University. Lily & Sebastian quickly become enemies when she discovers he is one of the hosts of a rival podcast. Lily wants nothing to do with Sebastian, but he slowly worms his way into her life.

Lily & Sebastian’s journey is a rollercoaster. Once they pushed through their fears and self-doubt, it was emotionally satisfying to see the beautiful relationship they built. They faced their challenges with understanding and honest communication. I loved watching them grow as individuals and as a couple. This story has just the right amount of angst, tension, longing, fun banter, swoony moments, and steam. If you love a good slow burn, enemies to friends to lovers story, with a touch of drama, this book is for you.

    Narration:
Zara Hampton-Brown and Shane East perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. Anytime this duo performs together, I know I'm going to be transported into the characters' world with ease. They did a wonderful job giving voices to Lily and Sebastian. From the accents to the intense emotions, Zara and Shane always deliver great performances for Samantha Young's stories.

This story had the perfect amount of angst, passion and laughs! I knew from the start that I could easily relate to Lily’s shy, introverted ways but she wasn’t a pushover and I loved watching her put Sebastian in his place after she discovered he wasn’t who he first led her to believe. The dating podcast was a fun addition to the storyline and of course made for some drama too, nothing like airing a little dirty laundry to listeners! But Lily and Sebastian shared this connection that was hard to deny, they built this bond that allowed them to open up to each other like they had never done before, even if they had a rocky start. The road to their happily ever after wasn’t easy, both had trauma in their past to overcome, and of course, Sebastian’s Royal connections couldn’t be overlooked but I loved the way they fought their way to their forever love.

Shane and Zara brought the perfect emotional delivery of the story to this angst filled romance. I felt Sebastian’s anguish over what he had gone through and his hesitation to allow himself happiness again with Shane’s performance. And Zara portrayed the introverted Lily so well, I could feel her self doubt but in the same turn her determination to rise above and show Sebastian he deserved love! Overall loved this story, I definitely have to go back and listen to Lily’s parent’s story!

Oh I was here for Lily and Sebastian! I really did like them together. They reminded me of Lily's parents, Nate and Oliva (who are my favorite couple from Samantha). Though I could see some parallels, this book was still original to Lily and Sebastian. Lily and Sebastian's journey was bittersweet, both individually and as a couple. I liked seeing their progression from enemies to friends to lovers. These two brought out the best in each other. With Sebastian, Lily was confident and strong and with Lily, Sebastian was vulnerable, sweet, and his true self. They truly popped whenever they were together. And when they finally get together-fireworks-and then truly together-magic! Lily and Sebastian were just a wonderful people. Of course, I enjoyed seeing the friends, cousins, and the OGs from On Dublin Street. Though not gonna lie I wanted more Daddy Nate hehe. Overall, a fantastic addition to the Return to Dublin Street series. The perfect amount of fun, angst, banter, and heart. I am excited for Baird's story next!

With the way that this series kicked off, I was so ready to meet Lily and Sebastian.

Hands down one of my favourite friends to lovers romance to date. From the second they meet, there is an immediate pull and with natural comfort. That is until a couple truths are discovered which leads to some epic grovelling on Sebastian’s part until he convinces Lily to give him a second chance at friendship.

The only thing is that Lily wants more than friendship but due to past experiences and his insistence for nothing more, she has no hope. I LOVED watching their bond strengthen and the raw conversations that they would have. As we get to know more of Sebastian and his family dynamic, we realize exactly why he feels like he can’t explore his feelings for Lily.

They have quite a few hurdles to get through but I love the unconditional support they have not only with each other but from their friends and family. I lived for the moments that we got more insight on their families.

While it takes a bit for the dynamic to change from friendship to a relationship, it’s such an engaging story that you can’t help but cheer for them, especially when Sebastian brings the swoon and reassurance that together they can have it all. I’m quickly becoming obsessed with this universe that Samantha is creating and I can’t wait for more.

“I’d met my unicorn. The guy who made me feel so comfortable I could talk to him about anything. And yet whom I was so attracted to, I felt like every fiber of my being came alive in a way it never had until him. A bloody unicorn. Yet he didn’t feel the same way. Of course not. I should have known when I finally found him, he’d only want to be friends.”

Okay I think I loved this even more than OLL! Lily and Sebastian were just too cute!

So if you read OLL you might’ve seen where this book was going. Hint.. lots of groveling.

Sebastian is Royalty, 30th in line but he doesn’t really care about any of that. When he first meets Lily during a tutoring session, he’s immediately smitten with her and makes it his mission to be her friend. But he’s hiding a secret from her and when she finds out it destroys their friendship.

Lily runs a podcast about dating in college with her friends. They recently found out there’s another podcast dragging them out and they have no idea who they are or why they’re doing it.

Upon meeting Sebastian, Lily is instantly flustered as he’s the hottest guy she’s ever met and she’s a bit insecure about her body, being a slightly bigger girl. But they form a fast friendship until she finds out he’s on the rival podcast!

Now Sebastian is committed to apologizing and explaining why he was on it but Lily won’t have a bar of him. Though he’s not discouraged and continues to try and apologize and she eventually forgives him and they start over. Though she’s hesitant to do as she’s majority crushing on him but he only wants a friendship cause he’s a commitment phobic.

I absolutely loved their friendship! The teasing and easy going nature to them was so cute. The way he would constantly reassure her and give her compliments when she was feeling insecure. They were practically a couple without the benefits. But the more time they spend together the more Lily is falling for him and when jealousy rears its ugly head it pushes their friendship into more. But will it be enough for Sebastian to commit or will it ruin everything?

I honestly loved Sebastian, he’s such a sweet, caring person but we learn that he’s holding a lot of guilt over something that happened in high school which has made him not want to find true happiness.

Lily is studying to be a psychotherapist and can see he’s struggling but as much as she wants to help him, she can’t be around him without getting hurt. Though she’s does make him see what he’s doing and that he needs to work on it.

The angst between these two had my stomach hurting but it was so worth it! There’s a lot of hurt in this book but boy does Sebastian know how to grovel and make grand gestures! Swoon worthy!

I was not expecting all the drama towards the end but it was needed and brought Lily and Sebastian closer together and strengthened their relationship!

Can’t recommend this enough! If you love a bit royalty, a man not shy about groveling and owning his mistakes, a lot of angst and the cutest friendship turned love then you need to read this book!

Oh its time to go back to Dublin Street again and I am totally here for it!

Lily - oh I adored her, she is stronger then she thinks and is feisty like her mum when riled up. Sebastian is the complete opposite of her

She absolutely hates Sabastian after he let her down in the past but he is determined to have her in his life and convince her to give him a chance to be her friend but can the gorgeous Englishman convince her to be his friend and can she convince him to drop the walls and be more then friends?!?!

I was hooked from beginning to end, excited to see how Lilly and Sebastian's story was going to play out and Samantha did not disappoint me! she wrote a beautiful story of second chances, of friendship lines being crossed. With sizzling chemistry and witty banter this will be one you wont want to put down!

    📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚

    A Royal Mile - @authorsamanthayoung

On Love Rose Lane is one of my favourite reads so I was absolutely delighted to discover that there was another book in the series. This book is a slow burn with friends turning to lovers.

The book starts with the handsome Sebastian and the lovely Lily as enemies. But as time goes on and after some wooing on Sebastian's part they become best friends. It becomes clear to the reader that these two have undeniable chemistry which sets the plot up perfectly for a "will they, won't they" but the more you get into the book it becomes more of a "when will they?"

We go through all the emotions with the two of them as they are clearly attracted to one another but we also get passion, desire, their witty teasing and even some jealousy thrown in at points.

I loved Lily right from the get go. She was so relatable in every single way and I really went through the feelings with her. The way her insecurities were written was impactful and I found this part of the story really enjoyable because we all have insecurities. I loved the way the scene was written when Sebastian first approaches her because I was taken right back to school when the handsome boy talks to you.

Sebastian was charming and easygoing on the outside but deep down he was fighting some inner battles and again I found that this was written really well where I felt I could sympathise with him.

They really were a cute and perfect pairing and I enjoyed this story so much. I loved the wee cameos we got from Beth and Callan also.

The drama that unfolded made this a solid read. And I can't wait to head back to this series as the author is becoming a firm favourite of mine.

Sebastian and Lily moved through their irresistible attraction, their hurts, their family dramas … only to come out the other side a couple with so much love for each other is all relationship goals. Looking forward to more, more, more!
