All the Little Raindrops: A Novel Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 36,822 ratings

The chilling story of the abduction of two teenagers, their escape, and the dark secrets that, years later, bring them back to the scene of the crime.

It’s senior-year spring break, and Noelle Meyer and Evan Sinclair have been kidnapped. Neither knows why they were chosen, only that they share a tragic past: Evan’s father got away with killing Noelle’s mother, effectively ruining her family when the death was ruled an accident.

Despite the connection that should have made them enemies, the teens instead unite to face their other common denominator—their abductors. Noelle and Evan survive one sadistic circumstance after another, eventually making a harrowing escape. But every happy ending comes at a price…

Years later, Evan, now a private investigator, revisits the crime when he learns it may be ongoing. He reaches out to Noelle for help, and they discover that the answers lie with a man known only as the Collector. To close their case and solve the ones that followed, Noelle and Evan must unmask this mysterious spectator—the only man who knows enough secrets to take their captors down.

Review

“The thriller elements will keep readers turning pages and, in the midst of all the darkness, the romance is surprisingly sweet. Sheridan’s fans will not be disappointed.” Publishers Weekly

From the Publisher

This book is not for the faint of heart. In fact, consider this your own personal trigger warning. If pressed to describe it, I would say it’s Saw meets The Hunger Games, but with a police procedural and a story about two broken humans who cling to each other in the darkness. However, in that darkness there is also beauty—a beauty that only the incomparable Mia Sheridan would be able to paint with such preciseness.

All the Little Raindrops will haunt you long past the last chilling page. Maybe you’ll skip that true-crime podcast that night and watch a baking show instead. Or check your door’s lock one more time. But even for all the darkness, Noelle and Evan’s story is a reminder that love can vanquish even the most terrifying evil.

Can’t stop thinking about this one!
I finished this book a few weeks ago and I keep finding myself thinking about it, thinking about the characters whom you get very invested in due to how well written the book is. This is a dark suspense thriller with some considerable TW’s, it makes you uncomfortable at times but also deeply invested in the two MC’s lives and their story. Great twists and a satisfying ending as well. I’ll continue to think about this one, and def recommend it!

I loved this book. I was in a rut when I started reading this book, so it took me a while to read. But, it was very easy to pick back up once I was ready. Nice plot twist at the end, good writing. I'll definitely be reading more of Mia Sheridan's books.

I will start off by saying that this book is a rollercoaster 🎢 triller but so good! The plotline keeps you hooked. You want to keep reading to see what happens.. what more you can discover. I was engaged right from the beginning, and honestly, on the edge of my seat the entire time 😅 I enjoyed the way trauma bonds, grief, and healing were explored. I loved Noelle and Evan character development. They way they both took accountability and always chose to better communicate their feelings and thoughts. I loved that there was enough romance involved as I'm not much of a triller/mystery reader. I appreciate the 3 POVs, especially The Collector. Overall, this was beautifully written and plotted! @miasheridanauthor

Mia Sheridan’s "All the Little Raindrops" is a gripping psychological thriller exploring trauma, resilience, and the long shadows of secrets. The story follows Noelle Meyer and Evan Sinclair, two teenagers whose shared tragedy—Evan’s father killed Noelle’s mother—turns them into unlikely allies after being abducted and placed into unthinkable circumstances. Their escape binds them, and years later, they reunite to confront an ongoing crime linked to their past.

At its core, the novel explores themes of survival and the pursuit of justice. The emotional foundation of the story lies in Noelle’s journey to confront her trauma and Evan’s drive for redemption and justice. Sheridan emotionally depicts the transformation of their relationship, evolving from victims to determined investigators. Their united quest to expose their captors fuels the tension and heightens the stakes.

The characters are deeply layered, particularly Noelle and Evan. Noelle’s strength lies in her refusal to let her past define her, while Evan wrestles with guilt over his father’s actions and his own unresolved grief. Together, they are dynamic protagonists who anchor the narrative with authenticity and heart. Sheridan also crafts a chilling antagonist, whose presence heightens the tension and leaves readers wondering.

The novel explores themes of justice and systemic failure, shedding light on the wider web of abduction and exploitation. Evan’s transformation from victim to investigator symbolizes the pursuit of justice for himself, Noelle, and countless others. Meanwhile, Noelle’s journey toward reclaiming agency underscores the enduring impact of trauma and the healing power of solidarity and moving forward.

Sheridan’s writing excels in its pacing and atmosphere, balancing tense, high-stakes moments with poignant emotional beats. The escape sequence is especially gripping, while the investigation into the Collector’s network adds layers of intrigue. The narrative’s commentary on societal indifference to exploitation adds depth, making it both a thriller and a call for awareness.

In just over 400 pages, All the Little Raindrops delivers a riveting, emotionally charged story of survival and redemption. Mia Sheridan’s masterful storytelling ensures the novel lingers long after the final page, cementing its place as a standout in psychological suspense.

As a fan of the genre, I had a hard time putting this one down. I really enjoyed the depth of not only the protagonists, but also the antagonist and the surrounding characters. They all held different roles in the story and progressed it beautifully. The romance was a mixture of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and maybe a little star-crossed. It was a beautiful depiction of strength, survival, and love.

I got this book as part of Amazon Firsts, where you get a free book a month or so before the main release. For the second book in a row, compared to many books that I read, I didn’t highlight many parts of the text as standing out for any particular reason. In many ways I am pleased that I didn’t have much to highlight as relatable for the content is dealing with some truly awful behaviour and events.

I think Sheridan handles the subject matter well, and it is generally not overly graphic. It tells you enough, while leaving the rest to your own imagination. But for anyone who has ever suffered any personal physical attacks, (I suspect that) this book should be avoided. You can read more about what the book is about from the blurb that appears with the book at retail sites.

Here are just a few of the lines that stood out to me,

he’d hoped to have a few more minutes to talk about mundane things. Sad things. Because it felt like they mattered too little now. And it felt like they were everything. Life had become a circle of conundrums, and he didn’t know how to make it make sense .

I think we often overlook the small, mundane things in our lives and the valuable role they play in grounding us in some form of normality.

He’d thought her plain at first, but that was before he’d seen the fire that made her glow from the inside. The one that made her beautiful .

    I love this description and the way that it emphasizes that what’s on the inside is such a key element of beauty. I also like the following description of the situation one of the protagonists finds themselves in;

he remembered wondering if she would call him or email him. He wanted it, God, he did, and yet . . . at the same time, whenever he opened his inbox and realized she hadn’t, he breathed a small breath of relief. It’d been confusing as hell .

The final quotation I have pulled out is one that probably sums up the book and what the protagonists go through as a whole,

The things you could learn about yourself under circumstances you never imagined .

Overall, I liked ‘All The Little Raindrops’. I’m not sure that I ever really figured out the relevance of the title to the contents and think that there were other titles that were more clearly linked to the storyline that could have worked better. When giving a star-review, I was on the edge between giving it 4 or 5 stars. In the end, I have to admit that reading that the author lives in Cincinnati, home of the American Football team that I support, helped persuade me to give 5 stars (although I have no idea what team, if any, the author supports).
