Publisher's summary

My mother wants all her kids and grandkids to spend Christmas Eve at her house and wake up on Christmas morning together.

Sounds reasonable, right?

And it would be.

If it weren’t my mother.

My husband, Declan, is protesting any involvement, though he’s openly intrigued by the idea of claiming his territory by having sex in my childhood bed.

And by intrigued, I mean a series of really hot suggestions that make me whimper when I have to say no.

Wait - why am I saying no, again?

Mom has turned her house into a Christmas showcase that makes Frankenmuth look like the picked-over clearance rack at Target on December 26. You know those crazy people on Etsy who make felted gnomes out of belly-button lint and use…a certain kind of hair…to make thatched roofs on little decorative elf homes?

Those people are saner than my mother.

There is no force of nature stronger - or more emotionally volatile - than a 50-something grandmother determined to create holiday memories.

Wait a minute. Maybe there is.

My husband.

And the craziness continues

This poor family! I say it with laughter because of it's going to happen, it will to the Jacoby-McCormick mashup and all their family, friends, and minor aquaintenances. Take a handful of loosely related and over the top possibilities, drop them in a blender with 2 or 3 highly unlikely shenanigans, and turn that puppy on without the lid. And that is what you get in this Novella.
Tanya Eby narrates this fantastic mess (and I say that fondly) with the kind of humor, exasperation, and enthusiasm that you can feel deep down inside.
It was a joy to read the book and listen to the audio.

Wish the last two were on audible too!

So I want to know the last two stories, but I have to get the kindle or paper copies to know the rest. Bummer! Am I too spoiled? Yes, probably. I will always wonder about things if I don't finish the series though. Guess that is my next step. *sigh* I really do like this series. Even with some of the annoying issues with stopping an starting in weird places. I do recommend this series. Great performances and fun characters. I still have so many questions though. The siblings? Hamish? Will James ever grow up... you know, finishing pieces. That's all.

chapters out of order

Loved the story as usual, but got very confused in the audio book when there seemed to have been a big chunk missing in the story. Then that chapter turned up at the very end. while it certainly filled in some major events that happened, it was a little frustrating to not have the true flow!! But still lots of laughs!

Cute, funny story

I have really enjoyed Declan and Shannon’s journey. I have laughed out loud at the antics and banter of these two with each other and their respective families. The only thing I can say is that I wish Andrew and Amanda didn’t make an appearance in the book. I find them bOth to be annoying but especially Andrew.

Last chapter out of order and ending missing

Good, like all the other books in series but the last chapter is out of order. And unless the book ends with Amanda's announcement, there are chapters missing.

Really Don't Like Marie

This book in the series did nothing for me. I really don't like Shannon's mother and there was way too much of her in this tale.

Declan's character didn't have a POV in this one. I missed them going back and forth between his and her POV's.

One thing that really bothered me, and it is probably just me, was that Marie forced herself into Shannon and Declan's first Christmas with THEIR first child. Seems kind of selfish to me. They could have planned to come later in the day, spend Christmas Eve together, or even come the next day. Shannon spends too much time giving in to her pushy mother, and it is really off putting.

I did like the narration, the beginning and the ending.

Disappointing

This felt more like a chapter out of the middle of a book rather than a stand alone special edition. This holiday edition can't be super fun and charming but this one seemed like she must've written it on the plane right before a meeting as quickly as she could. No real story running through out. Lacking almost all of the wonderful smart sense of humor of her other stories and books.

It’s too much.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but like DeClan, I found it to be too much. While I guess people could go through that much in a two day period, it’s time to give DeClan and Shannon a break and let them enjoy themselves a little.
