    At nearly 700 pages, it delivers on all fronts: intricate world-building, rich character development, and non-stop action.
    The story is captivating from beginning to end, with a perfect blend of drama, romance, and unexpected twists.

    It gripped me from the get-go and kept me hooked throughout. 
    Something was always happening, not always action, but something important to the story.
    Around halfway through the book, I took a small break, wanting to come up for some air. This could have been split into two books, but I think the author made the right call. I would not have wanted to wait that long to finish this amazing story.

    I loved Cirri and Bane, how they interacted from the start, trying to make the most of the situation that brought them together, to how they both looked beyond the obvious: Cirri looking past Bane's fiendish appearance and Bane learning how to communicate with Cirri. One of the most precious things when Cirri said to Bane: "You hear me, and I see you."
    Yeah, even now, I'm getting goosebumps :)

    We met so many interesting characters, and while I know this is a standalone, I really hope we will see maybe another book or three where the other fiends get their HEA. 
    All characters were superbly written, with enough depth to feel authentic.

    This book is a must-read for fantasy lovers!

    I've been reading things that I find mildly enjoyable for a while now and this was the first book in a long time that I truly enjoyed. If you've found yourself in a reading slump, prepare to be rejuvenated.

    I'm of two minds regarding its length though - I think it had just enough words to tell the story but, about 60% through, I found myself going "that would have been a nice shopping point for this book." However, authors risk readers not coming back for the second half so maybe Cate had the right idea!

    I'm not sure how I feel about future books. Would I be willing to try books about Bane's brothers? Absolutely. Would I be devastated if this was the only book in this world? No, I'm quite satisfied with where things ended. Regardless of next steps, this is a piece of art worth savoring. For those who like to wait for series to be completed, don't hold back. This one does not require a wait.

    So long and so good. I am grateful this wasn’t cut into multiple stories for the sake of releasing shorter books. This story is just so good, doing so would have ruined it. The story reminds me of beauty and the beast but so much better because she gets what we all wanted from the ever famous movie. My main question, my only hope, is that there will be three more stories to come. That his brothers will get the HEA they deserve.

    I liked the overall love story but it was hard to get past the sex scenes when the guy has been described as hideous and looks like an animal. To have sex with that was just gross. You can have someone that’s ugly but to have animal traits is too much like beastiality. That being said, i actually enjoyed the storyline. I ended up just skipping the sex scenes tho.

    I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for A Vow of Blood and Tears and was blown away by the story.

    AVOBAT is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with our Vampire/Beast MMC, Bane, as he enters a political marriage with Human, Cirri, a mute girl who was hoping to become a librarian and is quickly forced into the marriage arrangements by her sisterhood.

    Bane and Cirri are adorable together and demonstrate such strong character growth throughout the book. Cirri becomes besotted with her husband despite his appearance and it was so heartwarming
    to see the trust and bond between the two of them grow as the story continued.

    A Vow of Blood and Tears is perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and the Live action Beauty and the Beast.
