About the author

Leona is an Army Brat turned veteran, and a longtime staunch supporter of human rights and environmental causes. Her favourite genre to read is M/M fiction and she particularly enjoys the science fiction, fantasy, and action/suspense subgenres—especially if they have a nice seasoning of romance. She has far too many books on her Kindle, has overloaded her phone with even more and, when not reading, writing, being driven to distraction by her children, or being overlorded by her eight cats and two Newfoundlands, can be found trying to locate the portal that the sock monster uses to steal socks from her dryer.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2017Great story with some really creative twists. The author gave us a couple of twists on old themes, such as the conscripted worker/slave/prisoner who falls in love with their jailer/owner/captor by using the penal code of an alien culture to create a situation where the young human finds himself way out of his depth and in a truly unpredictable situation.
This was an enjoyable read and I'll look for future books from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2022What an interesting future. First contact has not only been made but a treaty has actually been completed. Earth is not yet part of the alliance but has established trade and the Talani seek some very, shall we say specific goods.
Inter-species mating as a driving force for some interesting characters, most of whom you'll love and a few you'll instinctively hate. Characters that will keep your attention. Even some of the most peripheral ones are developed enough to make you think you'd enjoy a conversation over a cuppa (no I won't say that brand).
Unfortunately I have to subtract a star because of the poor proofing. I hope that the next book in the series has a better proofreader as the foundation for a five star series has been thoroughly layed.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2019Love the intrigue, and the deceptive practices of the aliens 👽 involved with the unauthorised development of the restructure of a human make to be able to carry their young once he is pledged for. A must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2017This is a Five Star book that was hampered by the large number of errors in the final third of its content. I was impressed by the world building and character development. The author made even the extremely rigid Talani likable. Matty and J'nah make a good couple and I loved the way J'nah put Matty first. I'm hoping that version I received for review was not a final edited copy. If so, I will gladly upgrade my review to five starts after rereading it for errors. Unfortunately, there were many homonyms used in error along with character names changing in the middle of scenes. Certainly, this is easy to understand with the alien dialect, but still threw me out of the story. I got the impression that the author was rushing at the end to finish and missed a final pass through.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2017This was an okay read. The description of the world being created was done nicely and seem rather interesting with the various alliances. But the story felt a bit dragged out and there were a few places where it was a bit hard to follow. Will read the next book in order to see how the story continues.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2018I loved the book (3 times now) burf where is the sequel? Please write the rest of the series. Some editing issues but the book is too fun for it ti matter much.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018I enjoyed the story. It had many of the alien MPreg elements typical for this genre but it was a bit more interesting with the third gender. It also explained the evolution of the Talani to help understand Matt's role in birthing the young and why the woman of there species does not have the same maternal instincts as humans.
There were a couple of name issue that caused a bit of confusion. Matt was called Jared once.
I wanted to read more and follow J'nel and his search for Duane as well as following Matt was his pregnancy progressed. I am hoping a second book follows soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2017I loved it, can't wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant read everytime
I have read this a few times and I thoroughly enjoy the premise of the story. I can't wait to read what happens next and I hope the conspiracy comes to light a bit more in book 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spannend und unterhaltsam!
Sehr spannend und eine interessante Idee! Habe mit den Figuren mitgefiebert:) Ist zwar abgeschlossen, aber eine kleine parallele Storyline wird sehr wahrscheinlich dann im Folgeband behandelt werden. Freu mich schon drauf!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice alien story
This was a new author for me but it was well worth taking the risk on her work. I did drop one star as Matty accepts his fate a bit too easily - he ends up shipped off world for eternal servitude for what was really a drunken mistake. His ill fated one night stand was entirely consensual so for a human by our standards he should have been screaming blue murder as its a really harsh punishment. He's a bit upset (honestly -he really comes across as just a bit annoyed) but he settles in with his bondmate quite easily in the end. This isn't full of anger, conflict, despair or anything I would expect. It's actually all quite nice and sweet. I didn't return it in exasperation as it was nicely written-it was sweet to see how matty realises he's treasured and cared for. He makes friends and the interaction of the MCs was endearing. If a book 2 is released I will expect to buy it as I did enjoy this. Don't worry about the slight disbelief you may feel at the easy acceptance and enjoy this sweet tale
