"At his best Jeffreys writes memorable, perturbating prose with an overwhelming sense of menace. The stories stay with the reader, touching something in the psyche that is both troubling and intriguing." Bristol Review of Books.
"I've never before encountered a new author (new to me, in any event) whose work...grabs me so significantly from page one. When on his top form as demonstrated here...(Tim Jeffreys)...has the precious ability to grapple, I sincerely believe, with a writing gear in the horror or weird fiction genre beyond the reach of most."

Megan Neumann writes speculative fiction. Her short stories have appeared in Crossed Genres, Daily Science Fiction, and a number of other publications. When I was still a child and picked up my very first Goosebumps book by R. L. Stine, I knew I'd fallen head over heels in love with all things horror. It's a love affair that has only grown stronger over the years, a borderline obsession with stories that explore the darkest recesses of the human imagination. I guess you could say I'm like Thorny Rose in that way...always stalking down those special stories that have the ability to invoke a creepy-crawly feeling right down in the marrow of my bones.
As I grew older I discovered the work of some of my biggest inspirations like Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker...and the work of those authors sent me deeper down the path of the macabre. During my teenage years I had the little tradition of reading Stephen King's The Stand each summer to lose myself in the devastation of the superflu and marvel at the sadistic magnetism of Randall Flagg.
I've devoured horror fiction for as long as I can remember and reading the words weaved by the greats of the genre inspired me to begin writing. I wanted the opportunity to tell my own tales with the intent to terrify, to disturb; to capture the morbid curiosity of the reader just as my own was caught so early on in life.
If I've managed to inspire some of those feelings in you, my readers, then I feel that I've accomplished something just a little bit magical. There's still some magic left in this world, and I think it's most powerful when manifested in the form of words scrawled across many blank pages. Granted any magic contained within my work will be of the dark variety...but I wouldn't want it any other way. ;)
I live in Martinsburg, West Virginia with my little old pug Cerberus. When I'm not writing, I enjoy hiking mountain trails, weight training, getting tattooed and being a garden variety introvert in his late 20s. Oh, and reading too (duh).

I was born in Hull and I've loved books from an early age. I read English at The University of Hull before graduating in Social Sciences with The Open University. I'm really pleased that Hull won the U.K. City of Culture 2017 as I saw what it did for Liverpool.
I never thought I'd write poetry. But I was drawn to a book on Haiku in 2014. I started working with this form towards the end of that year. I had 'Hearts of the matter' commended in a National Magazine. Some of my other poems appear in a 2016 International anthology with all proceeds to Rescue animals.
In 2018, I've contributed to the album 'Safe and warm' by 'Musicians for homeless' with a monologue kindly read by the actor Ian Ralph. Please support those less fortunate.
WINNER: November 2019 - 'The Hermit' - Blue Animal Literature @BlueLiterature .
Poetry can be just as weighty as a novel. It's condensed but not watered down. I'm currently working on fiction projects. Short stories and poems have appeared in The Horror Tree: Trembling With Fear, Penumbric Speculative Fiction Magazine, Aphotic Realm, Rune Bear, Detritus, Fiction Kitchen Berlin, The Cabinet of Heed, Nymphs, Spelk, Eerie River, Dodging The Rain, InkPantry, Red Cape Publishing and more.
I hope you enjoy reading the fictions and poems as much as I did shaping them.

Greetings fellow readers. I'm Astrid Addams and I write horror and weird stuff. It's been a little while since I've published anything on here. That doesn't mean I've spent the last year just watching crap online.
Oh no, for the last few months I have been working my way out of a place most writers are familiar with, editing hell.
Whilst I battle the next novella into the shape I want, I hope to offer up some short fiction for you to get your teeth into.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2024Short tales that cause a gamut of emotions. Some stories bring out childhood fears others focus on the horrors of the unknown. A quick, thought provoking read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021Over all, I really liked this book. I think there was maybe one that wasn’t up to the standards of the others, but I really enjoyed reading the common theme of aliens. Some of these stories are gonna freak you out! ;)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020this is full of good stories. There are a couple that I couldn't even get through. But this is worth the money and a couple hours of time.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2022I really much enjoyed this alien anthology and recommend it highly.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2020Drawn into this from page one. It was really interesting, now can't wait for the second part.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2021The first two stories were so bad I am debating whether to continue. Very amateurish writing. It’s the sort of thing that would be on a horror writing blog, not from a published professional. I wanted to love this series of books but if this is any indication I can’t recommend. Update read the next story and it was worse. This is barely at the level of vanity publishing.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2021If you like short stories and science fiction you will enjoy this book. It was a fun read and just long enough for an anthology.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2020These kinds of books are my life blood. Please make an audiobook version of the A to Z of Horror PLEASE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary little green men...
“A is for Aliens” is the first of a truly ambitious series of anthologies from Red Cape Publishing. Running through the alphabet, each one will have a set theme, from aliens to beasts, to cannibals to demons. I’m intrigued to see what X and Z are going to be.
I love the idea of horror venturing into sci-fi territory – especially in film. “Alien” and “The Thing” are probably right up there in my Top 10, along with the astoundingly good short film “Zygote” by Neill Blomkamp and Oats Studios. Shamefully, I have to admit that I haven’t really read much in the genre. Most of my horror tends to deal with other kinds of monsters / human killers, but “A is for Aliens” gave me the perfect opportunity to remedy that.
As with their previous anthologies, Red Cape Publishing bring together a cast of indie authors who, while you may never have heard of them before, definitely bring their A game.
Each author has taken the brief and made it their own, and each story is superbly well-written.
As with any anthology, there were some I liked more than others, but they all work fantastically well as part of a collection. You’ve got creepy stuff, gory stuff, and WTF stuff. There’s definitely something for everyone.
Some personal highlights for me were: “Even in Darkness, We See Them” by Megan Neumann, “The Pioneer” by P.J. Blakey-Novis, “The Blue World” by Jeremy Megargee, “The Hazing” by Theresa Jacobs, and “Minor Constellations” by Dona Fox.
It’s definitely worth a go 🙂

5.0 out of 5 stars A thrilling variety of extraterrestrial tales
A is for Aliens (A to Z of Horror Book 1) is an extremely well put together collection of terrifying tales about creatures from beyond the stars.
No tale tread the same ground. From rural murders to alien abduction to Mark Anthony Smith's Canadian woodland horror and P.J. Blakey-Novis futurists intergalactic war, there is something in this collection for everyone.
With ambitious plans to release 26 collections in the series, A for Aliens is a tremendous first entry and I'm looking forward for more from Red Cape Publishing and its team of talented authors.
