- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2022In a beautiful rainforest,
in the heart of Peru,
lived Arnold, the anteater
and a tree frog named Lou.
A wonderful book for young readers, which offers a bit of everything, including fun rhymes, beautiful illustrations, interesting facts, and a traveling experience in its own. Francesca Watt delivers a new story that will encourage children to explore their own creativity and pursue their dreams of adventure.
My daughter has several favorite books and “The Crafty Chameleon” is one of them. When we discovered that the author has published another book, we were beyond excited. We got to meet Arnold and Lou, and had a lot of fun joining the anteater and tree frog in their adventures. They have a big dream, they want to fly! And how amazing would it be if they could see all the wonders of the world in the process!
Have you ever had a dream and plucked the courage to pursue it, only to discover the journey was not as easy as it seemed? Well, I think our kids often deal with this, and it is up to us, their ever-loving parents, to teach them that they should never give up. Stories like “All in a Flap” can help us do just that, not to mention it’s so much fun to cuddle with your kid and read together. Arnold and Lou made us hungry for adventure and travel, and I was happy that I got to share plenty of giggles with my daughter.
The story offered me an opportunity to talk to my little girl about dreams and what she should do when things do not go as planned. We took delight in the rainforest animals, talked about the landmarks sprinkled throughout the story and repeated the rhymes, so she can speak English better, as we are not native speakers. For me, as a parent, the big plus of the book lies in the growth mindset and the lesson of perseverance. Stories like this one, written in a rhyming format, encourage children to stay true to themselves and fight for their dreams.
What a great story! Arnold and Lou are the most adorable characters, and we loved following their adventures. From the beautiful illustrations to the lessons sprinkled throughout the story, we had an amazing experience. Not only are we looking forward to more adventures with this adorable duo, but we are already making traveling plans. Should we stop by the Eiffel Tower? Or maybe visit the Amazon rainforest? The sky is the limit!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2022I adore Francesca Watt's previous books and when I saw the cover of this new book, I just knew it would be another winner! It's very cleverly written in rhyme as with her previous books. Not many rhyming books can tell a story in an effective and interesting way at the same time, but she does this so wonderfully. Every line on every page flowed smoothly and made me want to keep turning the pages to find out what would happen to these adorable characters – Arnold the anteater and Lou the tree frog. They dream about traveling the world. Wishing they had wings to fly, they tried to make their own wings but nothing seems to work... until... well I won't spoil it for you. You'll have to read it!
I also love the loops showing the paths they might take and the different fonts. It made reading fun and engaging. The illustrations are so beautiful and detailed, it felt like I was traveling alongside Arnold and Lou and admiring all the sights they were seeing. The message is also such an important lesson for us all – it doesn't matter how to get there, what path you take, how long it takes or how many times you might fail, just keep trying and follow your dreams and you will get there eventually! After many attempts, these two eventually managed to visit some amazing wonders around the world! My favorite page is the one with all the polaroids of them visiting different countries and famous landmarks.
I'm so happy to see that it will become a series and really look forward to the next one and seeing what these two will get up to! I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely book!

I loved the cute little rhymes.
The illustrations are adorable, which completed this great adventurous book.
These two little engineers were determined to find a way to visit different places.
The way they constructed different ways to fly made me laugh. Great message for children to learn, if you fail, “try, try again, and find a new way.”
At the end the author added a fun, did you spot some of our rainforest friends. Which made me go back through the book to find them. Also a section for your kiddo to draw or write where they would like to go.
They will visit Arizona next! I read the ebook and needed an actual copy for my kiddos.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2022Another wonderful book from this imaginative author. Francesca's books never disappoint. This is a fun adventure book that will capture the hearts of young readers. The illustrations are very creative. This author has a way of adding some details like background animals and the little ladders for the monkeys, so much fun. Kids can read this and reread it over again and always find something new. The dialogue is presented in a very eye catching and playful way. I'm sure kids will love it. The message of seeking out adventure, is a great one for children to learn. The book also has real places from around the world which is perfect for further discussion with readers. This is helpful for parents, and I can also see this as a nice tool for teachers. At the back of the book there are some nice activities for kids and some words in different languages for kids to learn and say. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Book About Friendship, Adventure, and Following Your Dreams
An anteater and a tree frog dream of traveling the world and seeing different landmarks but neither of them has wings. How will they be able to achieve their dream? This beautifully illustrated book with catchy rhymes is such a delight to read aloud. The text layout is playful and the story is fun and informative at the same time. It's a wonderful book to read over and over again. This will inspire kids to follow their dreams and keep trying when things don't work out as planned. We love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect picture book for those who love travel and adventure!
I have read Francesca’s other books, and I was excited to start this one. And I was not disappointed. She’s a great storyteller with a pinch of humour. It’s a story about two friends Arnold–the anteater and Lou–the tree frog. They live in the rainforest, they play together, and they dream together. And they dream of travelling around the world and even in space. They imagine visiting different places on earth and their famous landmarks. But they have no idea how to make it a reality. Until one day… well, I can’t tell you more not to spoil the fun! The author is also an illustrator and I absolutely adore her style! But it’s not only illustrations, the layout of the book, the way she connected the text, pleasant flow with rhyming, everything is just perfect. And as a bonus at the end of the book, there are some activity sheets to make the fun even longer! I can’t wait to read the next book. I would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A M A Z I N G
I've read a few books by Francesca Watt, so I was waiting for the release of her new book with so much expectation.. and the wait was so worth it!
Arnold and Lou strike an unusual friendship to try to fly around the world and find ways to make it work. The text is simple, the rhyming beautiful and the illustrations so vibrant and eye-catching. It encourages children to explore their imagination, work out how to make their dreams come true and what to do when things don’t go as expected… so don’t get in a flap if your plans go astray, just try, try again and find a new way!
A Fun, engaging, educational and motivating story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Lou & Arnold are so cute! Lovely book about friendship.
What a sweet story about friendship and working together to make your hopes and dreams come true.
I loved seeing their travels come to life and the journey they took to make that happen.
I enjoyed seeing other languages on the postcards too.
My little boy loves the activities at the back of the book - what a brilliant touch to make it even more engaging and education.
The illustrations are fun and colourful too!
I hope we get to see more of Lou and Arnold again soon in another book!
