All That Glitters Kindle Edition
Liam and Ben were childhood sweethearts, then college boyfriends. But when Liam cheated on Ben, Ben forced himself to cut ties and move on. He’s still living in the small town where they grew up, teaching, but it’s not the life he imagined for himself as a younger man. Still, when Liam returns, he can’t risk his heart again. He certainly can’t allow himself to love Liam again after fighting so hard to get over him.
Neither man wants to let go of the past and face their apprehension at starting over. They don’t want to fall in love a second time—but sometimes love happens whether it’s wanted or not.

"Best of all, Ms. Sherwood penned a serious tale with enough humor and lightness to make this reader not only laugh out loud at times, but my heart was filled with warmth for these two heroes and all her characters as well. All that Glitters is an easy book to recommend and I can't wait to read more from Ms. Sherwood in the future." Four and a Half Stars at Top to Bottom Reviews

About the author

Yup. It’s me. Kate Sherwood, Cate Cameron, Catherine Dale… and probably a few new names, eventually. They’re all one person.
One person who’s lucky enough to get to live a bunch of extra lives through the characters in her books, and who’s trying desperately to keep all the lives organized into some sort of categories… so each name writes a different type of story.
But really, beneath the genre categories? They’ll all me. All the stories will have some kind of humour, even in the darkest times. They’ll all show characters who are far from perfect, but who are trying to be better. And most of them will have animals–wild or tame, large or small–because I truly believe animals bring out the best in people (as well as the worst, unfortunately), and I want my characters to be at their best.
Basic bio stuff? I live in Cottage Country–the water-filled world north of Toronto and the rest of the cities, the land where summers are crowded with visitors and winters are snowy and isolated. I love it here. Not that I don’t sometimes miss the city, but it’s not that far away–I can always visit when I want to. I work full time at a non-writing job but would love to shift into a more writing-centred life. There’s a five-year-plan. It might work.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLiam and Ben’s story feels somewhat familiar, but in a much different way. This was no easy, see each other again after 15 years and everything is magically fixed. No, this was a relationship that was hard won and a long time coming. It was a different spin and that’s what I like most about it. A few scenes made me tear up, but in the end, a really good story with a HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2018Format: KindleLiam is a brilliant architect living in New York. On paper, he has everything, but deep down, Liam feels empty. Fifteen years ago, he made the worst mistake of his life, he lost the love of his life, his only true love, Ben, and now he realizes something is missing in his life…or someone!
Ben is a teacher in his hometown. Between his job, his best friend Seth, and his uncle Calvin, Ben has a quiet life. But Ben is lonely too. Since Liam broke Ben’s heart fifteen years ago, he refuses to be hurt again and choose to live his life safely…too safely.
All the Glitters is a good contemporary romance full of feelings, angsts and of course love.
This book is about Liam and Ben’s second chance.
Fifteen years after leaving his town, Liam comes back without really knowing why. He’s in an almost mid-life crisis and trying to understand what’s missing. When he sees his ex, Ben, Liam realized that Ben was the missing piece, but he’s scared of being rejected after all these years. I liked Liam, and it’s something very weird coming from me since I hate cheaters and Liam is clearly one. But here, I didn’t see a dumb kid who messed up badly, I saw a man, mature, lonely and unhappy. I saw a man who really wants a second chance, who takes responsibility for his actions. I liked Liam, a lot.
Ben is calm, sweet and mature. Except in the presence of Liam, then he’s alive and full of passion. I liked Ben a lot, and I understood him. I understood his fear and why he wanted to be safe with his heart. But sometimes, I wanted to slap him… Yeah, yeah, I know he’s the one who’d been cheated on, and he had all the rights in the world to be pissed, but sometimes he was too stuck in the past and a little bit unfair with Liam, but I understood him and couldn’t blame him for too long.
I liked this book because the author didn’t write a Manichean story with Liam as the bad guy and Ben as the good guy. It was more than that, nothing was black or white, and there was a lot of other colors just like in real life. I loved it here.
The secondary characters were good, and Uncle Calvin is definitely my favorite, this guy is crazy. The only thing that bothered me is that that sometimes, in my opinion, it was a little bit repetitive, and I had the feeling that I was turning in a circle in my read sometimes.
But all in all, it was a pleasurable book, and I had a good time with Ben and Liam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real and heartwarming
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIs it ever too late for true love? Maybe not - but broken trust isn't magically fixed either. Kate Sherwood's characters feel absolutely real as they struggle to connect with each other, and it's hard to look away. Make sure you have time to keep reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved the whole cast of characters, especially Uncle Calvin who was brilliantly written. You could feel the love that Ben and Liam had for each other through the whole book, and I felt like shaking them at times until they could see it themselves! I couldn't put it down which is always a sign of a great book. Would highly recommend.
