Alpha in Heat: An Enemies-to-Lovers MPreg Romance (Meadowfall Firefighters Book 4) Kindle Edition
Jesse Sinclair has secrets. A mountain of them. At twenty, newly-rescued from a human trafficking ring, he's eager for a new beginning. That means not looking at his case files, and not knowing what his captors have done to him. It's all in the past. It doesn't matter anymore.
Except it does, when his PTSD gets him off on the wrong foot with his fire station deputy, Dom. Dom is alpha-as-hell, twice his age, and it's clear he doesn't want Jesse on the team. Jesse joins the station family anyway, and everyone welcomes him with open arms. That is, everyone but Dom, who challenges him to drinking matches.
Dom, who subdues him during his panic attacks.
Dom, who kisses him and pretends it didn't happen.
But the biggest secret is the one even Jesse doesn't know—back in the Facility, his body was altered. Something Jesse should've discovered before following Dom home one night.
The simmering heat between them explodes. Jesse ends up conceiving a child. He's not prepared for this at all.
Alpha in Heat is a 84k-word standalone slow-burn non-shifter MPreg romance, with two very aggressive alphas, secret donut gifts, an accidental pregnancy, and a station family who loves them both despite their quirks.

Hello! Thank you for wondering about me; I'm a funny, sausage-loving goofball with a surprisingly tolerant husband (his ghost, now!) When I'm not busy writing (which is very rare), I haunt grocery stores and stuff my freezer with my favorite food.
I've been scribbling since I was fourteen, and I believe that everyone needs a safe place. My dorky guys fall in deep, devoted love, the way Huz showed me a person can be loved, and every book is guaranteed to end in a HEA.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2020This book is amazing! Dom and Jesse's story has been a long time coming and the idea that not only could two alphas get together without an omega, but have a baby was something I couldn't refuse. I love reading alpha/alpha books, watching them bypass all the stigmas that surround them and what their relationship is supposed to be. Anna Wineheart did brilliant things with this book.
This book is hot, amazingly written, and the plot is so well done, even though Anna Wineheart likes to make me cry. Jesse went through so much but thankfully Dom was there for him.
I cannot wait to see what the new Meadowfalls series brings to us. Though I am sorry to see them go. Hopefully they show up in some capacity in the next series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2021I really enjoyed Dom and Jesse's story, even if I was leery of the time jumps. It took them 4 years since their first meeting to get together as a couple. I prefer my instalove to lead to instacoupling.
Jessie was kidnapped when he was 14 and had horrible things happen to him. Dom's omega took his life and left him devastated, which made him try to deny he had feelings. I get that, I really do, but it went on for so long and Dom didn't seem to get any therapy at all. He needed some.
And then came the chocolate doughnuts. I love doughnuts, but I may not be able to look at them innocently ever again.
My only niggle for this one was the double wedding. I wish that if the couple doesn't get married in their own book, then have a book at the end of every series so that we can get more time with the couple up to and after the wedding.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2021Jesse and Dom are my absolute FAVORITE Meadowfalls couple thus far. Alphas, who should never be able to be gentled by the other's ferocity; enemies, whose hatred of the other's presence only binds them closer; firefighters, who only seem to make each other go up in flames are the absolute last person either of them want to need. And yet, there is no one able to make the other feel as strong or vulnerable.
Essentially theirs is the story of two deeply wounded men. One unable to hide the physical scars inflicted on him, another who hides his deep inside. Men who find a way to heal one another through their constant battle of fists and wills. It's primal, romantic, dirty and heartwarming even as it deals with abduction, abuse, found family, suicide, and the will to survive. A dom, who finds fulfillment in an alpha who will never fully submit and an alpha survivor who finds his true strength in accepting the parts of him that are omega-soft.
This book surpasses it's Mpreg genre and romantic tropes to end in a universal truth- happiness is found in being loved for all that you are. The good, the bad and the ugly who in the eyes of the right person makes you intimately beautiful.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2023I love me a good alpha on alpha and Dom and Jesse's story did not disappoint. Both characters have been hurt and are very evident when they start to get closer. I absolutely loved these two together as they both learn what it means to be an alpha and general and for each other.
Absolutely recommend this read.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2020Anna Wineheart as always does it again. Love this series so much and this book was so worth the wait. I am not going to lie I cried and was cheering for Jesse and Dom to finally see that they are meant for each other. The one thing that Jesse need to know was that he could really trust Dom. Dom showed him in several different ways how much he did care, even though they argued with each other, but the donuts omg! Loved it I am never going to be able to look at a chocolate donut the same. I really recommend this book and all of the Meadowfall books.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book and am giving an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2020I really couldn't get into this book as it involved a lot of physical and mental abuse...well really more like torture. Sinclair has scars from head to toe after spending years with his captors. He has a uterus implanted in his pelvis and doesn't know about it. He has hormonal beads implanted to keep him viable to have heats and babies. He is rescued, but the bad guy gets away free to cause constant fear and anguish to Sinclair. Dom is an A..hole from the beginning and almost lets Sinclair die before he gets a clue. Years pass in a blink of an eye, but the ending is what got me. They were going to get married after having their baby Owen. Six years have gone past when they finally decide to tie the knot, but the baby is only two years old. A warning for those who don't do well with a lot of physical violence should be given. I know I wouldn't have picked it up to read. I usually like this author's books, but this is not one of them.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2020This is what enemies to lover is, a slow burn with scorching heat between the two. Jesse was so stubborn, so strong and so heartbreaking.
With everything he went through and how he came out on the other side. I liked how the definition of Alpha was challenged in this one. It tend to follow the same track in books.
Dom and his doughnuts, the man was a sweetheart when it mattered and so reluctant to admit to anything, which only made the book better of course.
I loved every moment from start to finish, the whole back and forth, their arguments, every snide remark and salted coffee.
I haven't read the other ones, but I most likely will seeing how good this one was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This book book will rip your heart out and put it back together multiple times, but it’s so worth it! While I don’t typically prefer alpha/alpha or omega/omega stories (unless it’s a poly relationship), I absolutely loved this one. This book is well written and full of emotions, heat and love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait
This book made me laugh out loud one minute and break my heart crying the next. The way Dom showed Jessie he could still be an Alpha no matter what was happening to him and the way Jessie showed Dom it was OK to believe in forever. Anna Wineheart did it again ruined another food now everytime I see donuts I picture Jessie and Dom they don't even need to chocolate

5.0 out of 5 stars One in a million love!
Jesse Sinclair has had a very hard childhood, he was abducted and taken away to an underground facility where he was experimented on. He escaped, with help at the age of 20 and is now interviewing for a firefighter position. He is more than qualified and is a quick thinker. But one of the Fire Deputy's in charge of the hiring process, Dom, says 'No'. He is out-voted by the other two members of the panel and Jesse is hired.
Dom and Jesse are both Alphas, and butt heads anytime they are in the same room together. Dom finds himself attracted to Jesse and does not know why. As the days and years go by, they play a game of cat and mouse.
Slowly Dom and Jesse get closed until the inevitable happens. Then they both get the surprise of their lives!
The characters were well thought out and bounced off each other well. Jesse was a scarred and scared character who did not know who to trust. Dom was not afraid of him and was there for him every step of the way.
This storyline was one I had not read before and was intrigued by. I was not disappointed. I read the book in one night (long night) but I could not put it down as I was invested in the characters and wanted to see what happened next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally unexpected
I usually enjoy this author's work but the prologue was sickening and I skipped most of it. It made me very wary of the book as a childhood of pain never really leaves you.
It's well written, definitely is not an easy read but it a book so full of angst and emotion that it moves you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great m/m book in series
The angst between the two main characters in this book is off the charts. Two very wounded soles who’s broken bits fit to match them up and help to heal them. The catch in this book is that they are both alphas and there is a lot more fighting for dominance than in the other books in this series. So well written and so much fun to read.
