    I’m glad to finally read this book! I literally stayed up the whole night finishing it.

    I couldn’t stop giggling with glee at the beginning because Rafe acted like one of those alpha crime bosses I enjoy reading in dark romances. Then there’s his motives for revenge and protecting his pack, and I got super excited to see how his story unfolded.

    But toward the end, Rafe and Adele were denying each other for so long, I wondered why they even bother trying. Their reasons for being hot and cold were justified, but how they overcame those reasons were kind of blunt and confusing.

    Rafe deciding to be with Adele and trade his revenge for her life was as quick as a light switch. There wasn’t enough time of transition for us to feel him change his mind, so I didn’t feel the weight of his choice. I’m glad Rafe got to be happier and less gruff at the end, but he didn’t seem like a happier version of himself. His name could have been replaced with Channing’s, and it would’ve made more sense. Also, the fact that he got closure anyway for his revenge after choosing Adele over it made his sacrifice less meaningful. As if he got everything he wanted without making hard decisions. It was a little anticlimactic.

    I really like Adele, which is one of the reasons I was excited to read this book. She was a strong, self-made woman who submitted to no one but her alpha, and I felt for her when she lost her shop. As important as it is for her to forgive Rafe, I do think she forgave him too quickly—especially considering her similar difficulty with trusting others, I’ve expected her to at least try solving her kidnapping problem at the end on her own at first to show how hurt she was. Then Rafe would come in during her attempt and ask for her forgiveness, and THEN Adele would consider giving him another chance so they can get a better start on their relationship. Now I’m kind of glad Rafe suddenly became mushy at the end because if Adele is this quick to forgive someone who spent most of his time with her breaking her heart, their relationship would have been a lot less romantic and healthy.

    Also, consider having a program read back the text to you guys during editing. The “oh-shit handle” was hilarious but a little distracting. And Rafe was outside Adele’s house and then next to the fridge? I got confused there too.

    Despite my criticisms, I did enjoy reading this book and will consider rereading it later! I’m excited to read Gabriel’s story too! His personality in this book is a little confusing (first he’s Rafe’s nemesis, then rival, then wingman, then friend?), but he’s intriguing enough to read about on his own book. I’m so glad that novel is coming soon.
