This is book 10 in the Hope Herring paranormal cozy mystery series by USA Today Bestselling Author J A Whiting and Nell McCarthy.

Hope and her teen daughter Cori are looking forward to the winter break and are planning a few days away from their home in Castle Park, NC until Hope finds something on her dead husband’s laptop that stops her in her tracks.
The document is a letter from her husband Doug urging her to return to Ohio where they used to live to visit a person they both met in passing a long time ago. Torn over what to do, she and Cori decide to head to Ohio right after Christmas. Staying with an old friend, a whole lot of trouble starts.
Will Hope finally get answers to her husband’s suspicious death or will the trip put mother and daughter in mortal danger?

I have read this series from the start and have enjoyed them all. Great characters who are interesting , a mystery, and a friendly ghost. I won’t state the plot as the author does that clearly in bio. It is an easy read. No graphic sex or language. The story flows really well. I look forward to continuing this series.

Cori has decided that she and Hope have a holiday murder curse on them and they need to go away for the holiday. Hope decides they should go to Cincinnati when Cori discovers a picture of Hope & Doug in front of the Statue of Liberty in an old photo album. The Statue of Liberty in photo is a miniature about one third the size at Kings Island, is that the one from Doug letter. Hope calls a friend in Cincinnati to see if they can stay with her. Charlotte is told her husband, Worth is dead. He was found in the river. Hope has a new murder to solve. I love this series I hope there will be more.

Love this series, I like the way it is going
and the characters are the best. With Hope as a teacher at school but a teacher at home always teaching her child the right way. love it. Bring it some more.

After a thrilling and twisting nine books, the ending was not satisfying! You wanted the world to be safe and the culprit caught, but alas not to be. The flow of action was missing from the writing team of Writing and McCarthy. The two stories meshed well and the twist of them being totally separate plots is nicely laid out. The characters of Hope and Cori are who you want as neighbors and you can taste the Butter Up Bakery pastries. New characters are flat and uninteresting.

No spoilers, but, we got some real answers to a past issue. Not sure that's over though. Plus a new murder that has cruel twists and turns. Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Will there be any more Hope Herring stories
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 20, 2022
I found this a deeper and darker stuhhory line as Hope gets answers both to the murder of her friend Charlotte 's husband and the mystery of her own husbands death. I do hope that there will be more stories taking Hope to a better future.
