    I really thought this was going to be a 5 Star book for me. I was really loving it & then there was the inevitable letdown. A huge disappointment. Why did the author not give me more? Let me explain ...

    This is a slow burn best friends to lovers romance book. You have a chance to really get to know each character individually & then how they interact together. A good dynamic.

    Seth is a 30 year old CFO of his family's company. Eve (Evelyn) is a 28 year old Pediatrician. They have known each other since they were kids, grew up together & are best friends. They get each other & always have.

    Neither has ever been in love & just think they are cursed or have really bad luck in the romance department. Seth still has a ex girlfriend (Gillian) trying to cling to him. She was only after his family name & money anyway but once Seth caught her cheating, it was over for sure. He was more embarrassed than really hurt.

    Durning a holiday party Gillian makes a cheap shot at Eve about her Mother. Eve's Mom died when she was young. Eve is super upset about it but tries to put on a brave face. That night he hears Eve fooling with the piano keys & goes to her. They talk & he asked her to sing a song they were talking about that he has never heard before.

    When she does, he sees Eve in a whole different light, he feels different. Has he been in love with Eve all these years? Is that why no one else ever worked out or mattered? Does Eve feel the same?

    They both have to work through how they are feeling but Eve is more hesitant & doesn't want to ruin their friendship.

    Eve comes up with this idea that they both should try to find someone to kiss at the stroke of midnight on New Year's so they won't be cursed into the new year. If they don't, they have to kiss each other. Seth wants to rehearse the kiss now & then sparks fly. Eve gets upset & runs off.

    Finally they get it together, have sex & immediately afterwards Seth asked her to marry him. I needed more. After all that tension & anticipation throughout the book, waiting for their big moment. It was barely a tiny moment. A real disappointment. Anticlimactic. Boo!

    That ruined the book for me somewhat. Thus, no 5 star rating.

    The H and h have been besties since diapers. She is now 28 and he 30. He is on the heels of a broken relationship with a girlfriend who cheated on him. Neither has ever been in a long term relationship nor has ever been in love. The H's ex is now trying to get him back. He has no interest since the only reason he went out with her was because his dad encouraged it since she was the daughter of a business associate. They make a pact to kiss each other if they have no one else to kiss on New Year's Eve. That kiss lead to a more than friends romp in bed and very more than friends feelings.

    A cute short read. I liked the characters. I had an issue with the H and the ex. The ex was super nasty and a b. How did the H not notice that while they were dating? It was a short relationship but definitely more than dating mode. I had to question the H's judgement on this ex. I thought there should have been more to the relationship after the two discovered their more than friends emotions. It was will you marry me right after sex.

    A recommend for the ride home.

    I loved this best friends to more story! I loved Seth and Evelyn's story! Of course it has drama but I loved the humor and dialogue going on in this story. They have been besties since they were young, they are tired of their bad luck in the relationship category and decide to form a pact with rules. This is a fun story! I love how protective Eve and Seth are for each other. Great story!
