All the Ways We're Wrong: An Emotional, Spicy Rescue Romance (Thunderstruck Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

“You made a list of reasons why you don’t want to have sex with me?”

Ava Blum may be a sparkly, extroverted movie-star known for her extraordinary beauty, but the truth is much less glamorous. She’s a divorced, single mother with PTSD, low self-esteem, and a non-existent love life. Unable to shake the lasting effects of abuse, she grieves her fortieth birthday alone in a remote mountain cabin.

Killian Kelly is a man of few words. Abandoned before he was three, he barely survived childhood. Thirty years later, he’s a bookish, outdoorsy engineer, who’s found peace in his well-ordered, solitary life working in national forests.

When a mudslide buries Ava alive, Killian rescues her and guides her down the mountain. Surviving the wilderness together leads to an unexpected, inescapable bond. But they’re opposites with incompatible lives, and so they agree to go their separate ways. Instead, they fall into a reckless, passionate affair.

Ava’s convinced she’s not good enough for love, and Killian doesn’t know what love is. When they can’t walk away, they have to decide whether anything right can come from all the ways they’re wrong.

This is a great read! We get action, laughs, spice, and a lot of growth in our characters. Previously, we knew Ava to be Jack's ex-wife, the woman who divorced him out of the blue. There were hints that she was deeper than she seemed, so I was eager to read her book and understand her story. And what a story it was!

We learn about Ava's history and how it shaped her into the woman she is now. Ava puts on a good front, but deep down she's dealing with a lot of trauma. She meets Killian when he saves her from a mudslide, and the two have a great forced proximity adventure while they make it to safety. And turns out he's got his own inner demons. But after they make it off the mountain, then what? So many books have the HEA at that point, but this one takes a more realistic approach. How do you keep things going once you're back in the real world and you have totally opposite lives?

This book is connected to the other books, but stand alone, so if you haven't read the other two, you'll be fine (but you should). It's beautifully written and will have you laughing, crying, groaning, (moaning), and cheering!

I loved how Killian and Ava, with their childhood traumas, related to each other and just understood each other. I love that they were people who seem real, and like they would easily be in my close friends group.

Amelia does a great job creating characters you care about and become invested in. For some of us, she's writing in parallel to what we have experienced in our own lives, which hits you at a visceral level.

    I want more.

All The Ways We’re Wrong was really well-done. I thought it would be a bit fluffy and was fully expecting a quick affair-to-HEA after Ava and Killian made it down the mountain, but the author decided to toy with me and my feelings a bit longer 😂 Ava and Killian had so much depth. To paraphrase the great words of Donkey, Ava was like an onion. Each time a layer was pulled back, she became more complex and relatable. Killian wears his trauma on his sleeve, and it’s so sad. The growth between them is superb. It’s angsty and dramatic, but also sweet and beautiful. Very nicely done.

I received a copy of All The Reasons We’re Wrong from BookSirens. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
