    I am a sucker for dragon stories. I haven’t read any of the rest of the related books but this one was so sweet and full of love. It was a very unique tale and I am intrigued as to what it is the prequel for. I will have to go look them up. I loved the characters and can’t sit to see where it all goes.

    I read this book after the first two "Fated Fantasies Dating Service" books. And it is just as the author titled it - "sort of" a prequel. While not exactly specified, this book takes place multiple generations before the fated fantasies series. It is the origin story of The Array, which ultimately comes about as a result of the meeting of fated mates Tiberius and Harvey. A story full of fate and magic, at it's core is the sweetest love story I've read in awhile. Found family, and definitely an awakening of magic, which I won't spoil here. Plenty of steamy times, and this "prequel" really does a great job of giving us a history to keep in mind when reading the series set in present times. It can absolutely be read as a standalone, or in any order with the others. Five stars!

    The Awakening of Magic

    “We are partners, Harvey, equal in all things, especially in the bedroom.” “That’s going to take some getting used to,” Harvey mumbled. “What, having a partner?” “Being someone’s equal. I’ve never…” Tiberius’s lips crushed against Harvey’s, and he was momentarily unable to think, speak, or finish his train of thought. All Harvey could focus on was the cinnamon sweet of Tiberius’s lips and the heat that radiated off his body. “

    “You are more than my equal, you are my sole reason for being. I will move the moon, take over the clan, and prove to you every day that I draw breath, that you are my one and only, and worthy of every goodness the universe holds.”

    There is so much happening in Holly Oliver’s The Awakening of Magic. we begin with the downtrodden Harvey, who is singular in his ways of being, letting others control most of what is happening in his, and his hedgehog shifter’s, life.

    When he is drawn to the sea, he finally breaks through his apathy and finds his dragon mate, who himself struggles with the politics of his clan.

    Together they are able to overcome many obstacles, while also heralding change that affects his family of dragon and the shifters that they hold dear.

    This is a fantastical and colorful tale of finally finding where you belong, and it is a precursor to Oliver’s Fated Fantasy seres.

    Absolute amazing book. Started it and couldn't stop reading it even if I didn't want it to end because of the wonderful magical world the book pulled me in. So so so good. It tells us how the Array of Hedgehogs came into existence. It starts with a cute hedgehog and a fierce dragon who together start changing the life for Tiberius' dragon clan. With Harvey by his side, they overcome all the adversity that comes their way. Sweet love story and very interesting to see read before the other books in this series.
    Highly recommended like all books by Holly Oliver.
