I’m upset that this appears to be the last book of the Black Claw Ranch series by Cecilia Lane. This was a wonderful final story. If you love shifter romances, you’ll love this series. Each story is so unique from each other but tie together so well.
This particular installment of the series is about the clan second, Jesse King. Jesse and Ethan, the clan alpha, had grown up together. And, dealt with their disappointing and abusive fathers together. They broke away from their past and built a future together. Jesse is a great second, helping to keep the rest of the clan in line and run the ranch. However, he is the only one without a mate now, and is feeling restless.
Then, he meets Nora Morgan. Nora is new to town, running from those hunting her and what they had done to her. Nora is a gentle soul. Human once, now a shifter struggling to communicate with the wolf inside her. She finds herself and her wolf drawn to Jesse. However, she may not be free to truly bond with Jesse.
Jesse’s father comes back to try to reconcile with his son. Jesse is not convinced that his dad has changed, based on his previous experience with the man.
Nora struggles to find her strength in herself and her wolf. She needs to find that inner strength to fight for what she truly wants, and understand that being a gentle and giving person is not a bad thing.
Jesse finds that those hunting Nora are the same that have been repeatedly stalking the clan and the clan must come together as the family they are to end this battle once and for all!
Wonderful story. The series wraps up nicely. There are lots of secondary characters with unique and intriguing personalities that can be developed into their own stories. I am hopeful for stories featuring the lion pride on the neighboring ranch and hopeful for cameos by the Black Claw Ranch clan in them.
Again, so happy to have found Cecilia Lane. A new author to me, but excited to read more of her works.
