No More Secrets: A Small Town Love Story (Blue Moon Book 1) Kindle Edition

“Are you calling dibs?”

“She’s a woman, not the last piece of f**king pie. And yes, I’m calling dibs if it keeps your hands off her.”

Carter Pierce wants to spend his days tending the family farm he inherited and that’s about it. After a tour of duty and a few bullet holes, he’s looking forward to some peace and quiet in his hometown.

Unfortunately for the sexy, bearded farmer, hippie-dippie Blue Moon doesn’t believe in peace and quiet. And his nosy neighbors sure as hell don’t know how to mind their own business.

Neither does the big city journalist who arrives to interview him for a magazine article. Summer Lentz is out of place with her designer wardrobe and workaholic schedule. She asks too many questions and gets under his skin with her smart mouth and those denim-blue eyes.

Now she’s typing his family’s story a mile a minute at his kitchen table and sleeping in the bedroom across the hall. His only option is to scare her away from farm life so he can go back to his nice, solitary life.

But Summer’s got a stubborn streak and secrets of her own. And once Carter starts pulling at those threads, he’s not so eager to send her packing. Will a nudge from the matchmaking Beautification Committee result in a happily ever after or a homegrown disaster?

"Totally in love...I am completely in love with Summer and Carter. I love the whole Pierce family and can't wait to read more. I have enjoyed all of Lucy's books and really like her writing style. The characters have a lot of depth and i love having both of their point of views." - Jennifer McCarthy

"Super sweet. I loved this book. There was no major twist, no crazy and outrageous drama, just real life people making real life choices. Carter is seriously the perfect guy, and I laughed at Summer's experience on the farm. I can't wait to read the next books about the beautiful Pierce brothers. Another great story from an author I will always read!" - Breiann M. Yoder

"Amazing! This book was absolutely amazing. I love the feeling I got from the small town feel of the characters...I love that there are so many characters to fall in love with and I cannot wait to read more about the Pierce Brothers or anything else that Lucy Score decides to write :)" - RAB

"
LUCY SCORE YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!!! BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY. Oh my word Lucy Score you have done it again!!!! I feel head over heels in love with your characters in Pretend You're Mine and this book does not disappoint!!!!!! I was hesitant because I adored your previous book so much, but the way you develop characters into these complex people is amazing!!! I loved the banter between the brothers and am looking forward to reading their stories too! Especially Jax and Joey, will she forgive him?? Blue Moon Bend sounds like the cutest little town ever!!! I also love how you brought all the townspeople in as characters. Can't wait for book 2 and 3!!!" - Mikayla Kolterman

Fun Romantic Comedy With Heart
No More Secrets: A Small Town Love Story (The Pierce Brothers Book 1)This author, Lucy Score, writes romance with a depth that I didn't see coming. The story begins simply but with an interesting bread crumb and more of them follow as the story progresses. The main character, Summer Lentz, is written smartly and oh, so very human, that one can't help but continue to ask why... as the complications of her life and that of Carter Pierce's criss-cross with well written humor. What I enjoyed was the pace at which the romance builds. The path to this romance feels fun and original. Once the romance forms, what I didn't expect was the stone that hit hard in what initially presents itself as a fun, fanciful romance but delivers a hard hitting and poignant punch of seriousness, the reader gets hit with.I like stories like this. Stories where the other shoe falls and you feel the punch in your gut. I liked not being able to see how the author was going to bring Summer and Carter together in the end. It was unexpected, yet made absolute sense because of the groundwork laid in presenting who these character's are. In the end, one will inevitably be who they are intended to be.No More Secrets: A Small Town Love Story (The Pierce Brothers Book 1) gets 4 stars out of 5. I was intrigued to read books 2 and 3 in this series. Look for my upcoming reviews on them, as well.

Are you ready to fall in love with Blue Moon? You better buckle up...it’s going to be an amazing ride. For me, the ride started with Mr. Fixer Upper, but I am so glad it didn’t end there. Blue Moon is a fantastic place! Carter and Summer from No More Secrets are perfectly imperfect! You will love them first, but by the end, you will love the whole town. If not, you have no business reading. (Okay, maybe that is a bit harsh, but really I don’t know how you wouldn’t love them!)

Carter and Summer meet when Summer visits Carter’s farm to write a piece on organic farming for her fashion magazine. She loves the feel good stories about “improving the world we live in” that get thrown in every issue and is working her way to the top. Carter is a vet who returned from Afghanistan damaged, but not broken. He enjoys his life of solitude (or at least as close as you can get to it in Blue Moon) and just wants to take care of his family farm. He has no interest in fashion or fame, but he quickly develops an interest in Summer. Throughout the story, the two obviously connect, but they both have pasts that are holding them back. While Carter has overcome most of his trauma after the war with the help of his family and the residents of Blue Moon Bend, Summer has a very limited support system, and the community factor in Blue Moon is a welcome surprise, but will it be enough for her to move on and embrace happiness? Could Carter be all she really needs?

Carter is a hero in every way. He is good and loyal. He is strong and faithful. He is as sexy as they come. He is such a hard worker. When he returned home with PTSD, he dedicated his time and energy to running the family farm. He is passionate about his work and his family. While he has overcome most of his trauma, he still tends to keep people at a distance. However, he is a man who believes in signs, and with Summer they are too much to ignore. He is patient when Summer needs time to catch up and he is ready to give her a push when she lets herself get in the way. His fierce protectiveness and overall goodness and strength won me over from the very beginning. His is a big gruff, but he is the epitome of hot farmer. He gets Summer in a way no one else can.

Summer is a feisty city girl who takes pride in standing on her own two feet. She is so fiercely independent while trying to make it to a senior editor position, and yet farm life seems to agree with this city girl. She isn’t afraid of hard work, and she seems to enjoy getting dirty on the farm. Even when Carter gives her terrible jobs, she refuses to give up. She even falls in love with the animals and becomes a vegetarian. However, there is a bit of mystery surrounding Summer and her past that isn’t revealed until late in the book. While I was fairly certain I knew where it was going, I was dying to find out if I was right. While Summer was in love with Carter, the Pierces, farm life and Blue Moon in general, something was holding her back. However, that didn’t stop her from being there for Carter, from being his protector and his rock in his time of need. I loved that she was strong and passionate. I loved that she embraced Blue Moon and everything it stood for. I also loved that she was willing to put others above herself, even if she did need to learn to let others in.

All the Pierces play such a key role in this story, and you will fall in love with each and every one of them. The way they band together and are there for one another makes them incredible. When the going gets tough, they show up. Phoebe is a strong, independent woman who will clearly do anything for her boys, but she is still such a dynamic character with problems of her own. These brothers, Carter, Beckett and Jackson are all so different from one another, but their love for one another and family in general was so evident. They give so much more than lip service. When things needed done or one of them was going through a tough time, their actions spoke louder than any words could. I was also so fascinated by Jackson and Joey in this story! They drew me in, and I couldn’t wait to find out their backstory.

The town of Blue Moon Bend is almost a character of its own. The people are so unique in this hippie town, and they each add so much to the story. I was just as drawn to the sense of community as Summer. The residents of Blue Moon Bend were there to support one another through thick and thin. Whether it was supporting an injured veteran who has returned to town, helping an injured farmer, or supporting one another at the farmers market, they were there for each other. They wanted the best for everyone. Blue Moon Bend made this such a happy book to escape with.

Overall, this book was fantastic. The characters were so multifaceted and real. The town was amazing and made me want it to be real. The writing was funny and smart while the romance was hot. My only complaint? This book completely ruined my book schedule and TBR list. Once I finished, I HAD to read the next...and the next...you get my drift. Be ready to stick around a while once you start, because I certainly didn’t have the willpower to leave. An extra bonus? This book is currently free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

This book does contain sex, but it is not vulgar in the least.

    I liked this.

The setup was really good of her coming to a small town and writing an article of his organic farm. It felt very Hallmark, in a good way. It just gave me great vibes as she explored the town and its characters.

The characters were great both main and side characters. They were entertaining and funny. I liked all the meddling going on. The brothers had such a great relationship and so funny. It was pure good times. I loved that aspect.

I enjoyed the romance, though I did think some things happened more quickly than I would have liked. I liked their connection. They had some great banter. They were just cute together. I was invested in them.

Some things were rushed like the sexy times and the “I love yous.” There needed to be a little more development before they made that jumped. That was the only thing that was missing for me.

Lucy Score's secret power is the way she builds family, community, love, connection, and home, quickly, smoothly, and silently, like a Love Ninja without you knowing it.

Suddenly, you are as immersed and connected and "home" as the characters, regardless if you have ever personally experienced this or just hoped for it, or saw it in a rom com movie.

Her characters are perfectly imperfect, flawed, struggling, and facing legitimate issues and pains. And always, always, there is at least one person who is there who is the right mix of overwhelming love and support, to hold them up through the deepest 💩 and just the right shake and knock upside the head when they are need of a reality check, to get their head out of tgeir arse and stop being stupid and getting in their way.

What touches me the most are the true, honest, terrifying moments when these beautiful souls take a blind step into the scary unknown, and open themselves to vulnerability. They share truths they've clung so tightly to protect, in order to finally share their true love and feelings for those who matter most.

Each book brings me to my knees and makes my eyes leak.

I feel so deeply because I KNOW how hard that is. I've LIVED how hard that is.

And when I see, witness, and know of others doing that, taking that blind step into the unknown, being fully vulnerable and open and brave, I champion them.

THAT is true courage and resilience. THAT is honor. And THAT is what Lucy Score does best.

One of my favorite phrases she wrote in this book says it all.

"Most importantly I learned that our real strength is in vulnerability. In facing and living the truth no matter who’s watching. That is where we are strongest."

Her books are uplifting, encouraging, and remind me of the small community I was so blessed to have grown up in.

The sex? Yes, that's not too bad either, it's like a good side dish to a gourmet feast.

Thank you, Lucy. Please don't stop writing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Summer & Carter. Unterhaltsam.
Reviewed in Germany on March 21, 2022

I can’t believe I hadn’t read this series yet. I’ve been a huge fan of Lucy Score for a while now, starting with TWINGO and working my way back.
Just kind of stumbled upon the Blue Moon series and absolutely devoured this first book.
Already excited for all the others, which will be a fantastic way to pass the time until Things We Hide From The Light goes live.

About this one: Summer and Carter. Instant connection. Charismatic, relatable, well realized characters, family and community sweet and funny dynamic and, most important of all - Clementine, the menace.

I laughed, I cried, I swooned. A must read for everyone who appreciates good writing and a heartfelt story of two wounded souls finding solace with each other.
