Battered to Death: A British Female Amateur Sleuth Mystery (The Finch & Fischer Mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 502 ratings

Intrepid sleuthing duo Finch & Fischer are back and it's not long before they are in trouble.

When the owner of a much loved business in Rowan Downs is found dead in bizarre circumstances, it leaves the county villagers shocked.

The case leads in one direction but as her little rescue dog Fischer sniffs out clues, mobile librarian Penny Finch wonders if the police are on the wrong track.

Told to stay out of it by DI Monroe, Penny attempts to keep her word, especially when a former television celebrity confesses. However, when Fischer becomes increasingly excited, she’s helpless to do anything but follow where he leads, even if it means endangering her own life.

Battered to Death is Book 3 in the cozy mystery series featuring mobile librarian Penny Finch and her rescue pup Fischer. Follow as they sniff out clues and dig up red herrings in the six villages and hamlets that make up Hampsworthy Downs.

It was a great read and well done, as expected, from this talented author. I enjoyed the character development and interaction. Great plot, wonderful writing style, especially the scenery descriptions. It was a page turner with action and moments of fun. Such an incredible balance!! I LOVE this author! I adore the Yellow Cottage series, please check those out too. Looking forward to the new series as well!

I really enjoyed the first two books and I enjoyed this one too, however, in this book at the very beginning, Penny gives a little background and states that she met inspector Monroe during the murder of Mrs. Montague. That is incorrect! Penny met the inspector in the first book when she brought in evidence to InsPector Monroe concerning the death of Julia Wargraves. Other than that error, I loved all the books!

Great flip on method of solving and so glad there’s a new man in town. Pace always fast even tho most crimes are not solved so quickly. Still, it’s all in the hands of the author. Well done!

I really enjoyed this jaunt into the English countryside with Penny Finch and her sweet dog Fischer. How does this librarian catch the thief? Well it all comes down to it, her little dog makes a big discovery while begging for treats! Just what is the flavor that has Fischer so hooked? Read the book!

I'm loving this cosy mystery series about a mobile librarian, Penny, her dog, Fischer and the people she sees out and about.

Easy to read in a few hours, no cliff hangers but the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.

Well worth reading if you like cosy mysteries.

Enjoyable and easy read. Plenty of suspicious characters with a liberal dose of clues and red herrings throughout. Hoping there are more stories with Penny, John and Susie and of course little Fischer, to follow
