Blue and Green Should Never be Seen! (Or so Mother says) Kindle Edition
It is like being an alcoholic: the first step is to admit you need help, and acknowledge that that pair of leggings, now that you are in your mid-fifties, do not suit you anymore. When you have recognized it, you are on the path to recovery, and GiGi’s services will help you, despite her mother nagging that what she is doing is not a “real” job.
People need advice and often a fresh point of view helps in rejuvenating a wardrobe that, with time, has become boring. Would they admit it? Not a chance!
So, it is just a matter of going around and helping people buying clothes and shoes?
Not quite so. Money is tight; GiGi has to work with rich and very eccentric people, who often do not have any idea about what they want. She and her business partner Ritchie are in a constant struggle to keep the business afloat, but as they say in Dragon’s Den, she is very investable. But, with success comes the difficulties, the Battersea Fashion Center is going to open soon, just opposite of her office, and they claim they will be fierce competitors.
A powerful enemy is lining up ready to make a meal out of her, knowing very well that GiGi’s approach, eventually, will make her a force to be reckon with. Whilst she invents new ways to make her consultancy firm successful, she finds who could be the love of her life, thanks to some of her best friends.
The business is eventually expanding and they take onboard new partners along the way, making them one of the most influential fashion consultancy firms in London. But, with a very demanding job, hours and hours spent working, will she be able to balance her career and her private life?
Will she reach a point where she loses focus on what is important in life?
Do not worry; mother is there to remind her, with her nagging.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2019About a driven fashion consultant, who realized being successful is not all that matters! Being in love with the right man matters too. I enjoyed this book and the ending was quite a surprise!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2018I’m not a fashionista in any stretch of the word. I buy my tennis shoes at Target and my jeans at Maurices (the same style for the past decade, at least), and my tshirts and hoodies are primarily from my favorite shows/movies (Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Friends, etc.). I love comfortable. In fact, now that I work at home, I wear sweats or pj pants on a daily basis and only have one pair of jeans that fits, nor do I care if my clothing matches if I won’t be leaving the house. So why did I read a chick lit book where the main character is a fashion consultant in London? Because I can, duh! And because BLUE AND GREEN SHOULD NEVER BE SEEN has been on my TBR for quite a while. When Colette schedule a blog tour through KCAS (shameless self plug), I knew it was time to check this one off the list. And I’m glad I did! While I didn’t understand much of the fashion side of things, I quite enjoyed and could very well relate to the business aspect to the story. GiGi is bound and determined to make her business a success and is prepared to step around those who want to stop her. I admired her want to grow her business and applaud her decisions along the way. Colette’s next book, The Retail Therapist, is now on my list, and I can’t wait to see what else Colette has in store for her readers!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2016I was traveling on vacation and reading this book. I enjoyed everything about it and it helped promote the vacation spirit.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2015Colette Kebell wrote a very entertaining story about how persistence in following your dreams can pay off…or not. Can one person truly “have-it-all”? Her main character, GiGi is an absolute Spit-Fire! She is truly awesome! This is a cross between, “Devil wears Prada” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
GiGi loves anything and everything about fashion. She cannot get enough of top name-brand clothing, shoes and accessories. With her love of fashion, and seeing all the people in need of “fashion intervention”, she decides that opening a Fashion Consultant/Personal Shopper business would be both fun and lucrative for her. She also believed that the people she helped would be happier with their appearance, which would also help their overall outlook on their lives. Her excitement is SO contagious. It actually jumps off of the page, making you read on and on and on, not wanting to put the book down. I read the book so quickly, because it was written with such excitement and intrigue.
GiGi speaks with her best friend, Ritchie about her dream of being Fashion Consultant…and he jumps on board and they begin a Fashion Consultant business in a shed!! Yes, a shed. With tenacity and seriously hard work, they find an office in London. This is where the story takes off. I don’t want to give much away, as that was truly part of the fun in reading this story.
There is a villain, there are lots of friends, there is love, and rivalry…..great fashion, food, conversation and a lot of just plain fun.
Her Mothers nagging is part of this story, but I don’t think it is anywhere near the epicenter of this story. It did not have the same bite that I was expecting after reading the summary of this book, and the title. But, it certainly did not change my feelings about this story.
This would be a great book to add to your weekend or beach reading days coming up. I look forward to more of Colette Kebell’s stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2018Being a personal shopper is a dark art… especially when your clients don’t know that “Comfortable is Jack the Ripper of style.”
Griselda Griswald “GiGi” is an intrepid London career gal with big dreams and business knowledge gleaned from the Dragon’s Den, (Shark Tank in the U.S) She has no savings, the economy is miserable, but she knows that the most important thing is to connect with people and make them feel better about themselves.
“Could I really transform Marjorie from an old cat lady into someone that could enjoy life again?”
Does her business model work? Does she make it to Happy Ever After? The book is written in the first-person, and at times the message gets convoluted but mostly you will laugh and love GiGi and her life!
This book is Rom Com or chick lit with sophistication, and style. The main character GiGi has the right blend of panic and panache. Her coworkers are fun and fearsome and her clients are woefully wonderful. I can’t wait for the movie!
My only quibble is with the title. GiGi needs a much snappier title so that readers know what a gem this is!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2020This is the continuation of The Retail Therapist. which I read and reviewed recently. Here the author continues with the life of GiGi and Ritchie, nicly flowing writing with some new characters added into the business, lifes ups and downs, and in this case very much up, towards the end of the book of course. Great friendship between Ritchie and GiGi, mum of course getting in the way, thinking she knows best. Nice easy feel good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2017I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley for my unbiased opinion of the book. GiGi has a fashion shopping addiction which she turned into a business by styling people with no fashion. It was a charming tale how good triumphs over evil. A mother who critizing GiGi at every turn which inspires her to try harder and be a major success and finds love in the process! It has drama, laughter, rich villian and a charming chef, what more could you want!

4.0 out of 5 stars a really good light read
My first venture into so called "chicklit" is that the right word? and I was pleasantly surprised - no bodice ripping or walking hand in hand into the sunset. A side of life completely outside my experience, personal shopping mega budgets designer clothes and I found it fascinating Characters well drawn with depth to their personalities, I can so recognise "mother", don't we all know one like her and dread the phone calls? heres hoping theres a next instalment

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and unique
I stumbled upon this book and I thought I would give it a try. I’m a book worm but I usually stick to war or nursing based books as well as true stories including autobiographies so this was something quite different for me.
So where do I start? Well at the beginning of course and I was instantly hooked. I loved the way the story line flowed to the point I actually thought I was part of the story and living life with GiGi. And oh how I laughed thought the story. I actually learnt some stuff to which is always a bonus. I 100% recommend anyone buying this book as you won’t be disappointed.
I can’t wait to start reading the author’s other books. Colette Kebell has introduced me to a whole new world of books which I am eternally grateful for.
My only regret is that I didn’t come across this author a long time ago. Anyway I must dash as I am about to start another one of Colette’s books.
Ps you can follow Colette on Fb etc which I’m also doing. She is lovely and interacts with her readers which I find is lovely.

A delight to read,
If you love fashion and enjoy the ups and downs of the business world you'll thoroughly enjoy this
As you go through the journey with Gigi, the main character, you feel all the ups and downs with her.
It is quite fast-paced, just like the fashion world. Attention to detail is brilliant.
Perfect read for fashionistas
