About the author

Lucy Appadoo is a prolific author who writes contemporary romance novels and romantic suspense novels about strong women who manage adversity with strength and heart. She is the author of the contemporary billionaire romance series alongside the Friends in Crisis and Women of Strength Series in the romantic suspense genre.
After a childhood spent reading and imagining escapist worlds, Lucy has put her imagination into stories. Her work as a rehabilitation counsellor, and former work as a counsellor in private practice, have led to an interest in writing inspirational stories about authentic, driven women who struggle with a new love interest or stalker.
Lucy’s interests include plotting the next love story, travelling for fun and inspiration, researching crime stories and news to inspire her work, watching romance and suspenseful movies, reading, meditating, and spending time with friends and family. She also appreciates her Italian background, which has inspired her to write imaginative stories about her parents’ childhoods that have led to The Italian Family Series novels.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2019I received a free copy of this story when I signed up to be on Ms. Appadoo’s mailing list. I’ve read a few of her other novels & enjoyed them a great deal. This novelette had me in tears. The writing was so genuine, I felt the wrenching loss of Jane & Daniel. So sad.
This story is a good lead-in for the next novel “Forbidden Hearts”. Ms. Appadoo recommends, as per the last page in my copy of “Broken Hearts”, that the reader begin reading “Forbidden Hearts” next. Jane & Daniel’s stories continue. However, “Forbidden Hearts” is labeled as book 2, and “Rising Hearts” is labeled as book 1. “Rising Hearts” has nothing to do with Daniel & Jane, but with different people altogether. So I’ll be following the author’s advice & will read “Forbidden Hearts” next even though it’s labeled as book 2. I’m starting it right now.
Cheers!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2018I have just finished reading Lucy Appadoo’s Broken Hearts Novelette; Prequel to Forbidden Hearts. This is a book I find hard to review because my emotions are so raw and I haven’t stopped crying. It’s not a book you could say was great and you loved it because how could you love something so hurtful such as losing a child to cancer. I watched my mother die of cancer and this story hits too close to home. I will say the author wrote from her heart and you went through all the emotions and feelings her characters went through. It’s a hard story to read but one I’m glad to have read even though the tears still haven’t stopped.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018This was the first book I read by Lucy Appadoo, and although the story is heartbreaking, I really loved it.
The path that Jane and Daniel have to go through because of her daughter's illness, Joy, is really arduous. And, unfortunately, the end result is not what they expected.
They have to learn to move on without the presence of Joy in their lives, and although the loss is irreparable, the love they have for each other may be able to help them.
I was very moved by this story. Joy was a very special and joyful child, and the end of the story left me in tears.
I recommend the reading.
