    I came across this author on Twitter, and just fell in love with her personality. So much so that I just had to grab one of her books to see if it was as entertaining as she was, and let me tell you, it is far more than that.

    The characters are well developed, the story flowed well, and the scenes were described wonderfully.

    The reader is taken on a "magical" journey as our lead female grows in her powers, and faces new challenges. How will she come out of a certain tricky situation? How does she handle the power, the world of magic, and who does she trust? You will have to read this book yourself to find out. (I ain't giving away any spoilers... so there! lol)

    What I will say is that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be grabbing book 3. I would highly recommend this story for young and old, and all in between. Especially lovers of the Supernatural world.

    JL Clayton has quickly become one of my favorite authors of any genre. When I played a hunch and decided to read the 1st book of the Chosen Series, A Spark of Magic, I wasn't entirely sold if I was going to enjoy the book enough to progress through this book series. But it turned out to be a lot of fun to read, and beautifully written by Ms. Clayton. It is an addictive plot and kept me guessing and hoping throughout. It did not disappoint. Ordering the 2nd book, A Blaze of Magic was a no-brainer. I think it was at least as good as the first, and that is a sure 5 star review. Being able to read both books for the price is a great value and even better use of my leisure time. It's unique, fun, and exciting!!!!

    Coming into this book immediately after I finished A Spark of Magic (book 1), I was very pleased with the way the author continued the story seamlessly. It is as though she wrote one long book and divided it in half to create books 1 and 2. Finishing the last chapter of book 1 and then opening book 2 and reading the first chapter.. it is as if chapter 1 in book 2 could have been a subsequent chapter at the end of book 1. Seamless!!

    I am in love with all of the characters. I find myself rooting for some while I discover I am scowling when one I don't care for is mentioned again. I find that is very good writing! To create and describe characters in such a way as to influence how a reader feels about said characters.. that, to me, is a sign of extremely talented writing. (Kind of like how movies are.. you know? When characters are introduced and you don't know what the whole story is or haven't been given the big picture yet and you are left to determine for yourself how each character fits into the plot? Yeah. Just like that!) For example, and this may be a spoiler.. so please read on with caution if you haven't read the book yourself yet... I had bad feelings about Kate ever since the last three chapters of book 1. Turns out that my feelings were correct. That is one way the author was able to introduce and create that character while giving me, the reader, just enough to not trust her, like her or down right not care much about her. Hence the reason I always made a face when it came time for her to make another appearance on the pages. Excellent writing!!

    Only reason for the one star reduction in my rating is that the grammatical and editorial errors I mentioned in my review for book 1 still exist and continue to nag at me here in book 2. I do not fault the author.. I fault the editor. After all, that *is* the main purpose of an editor!

    Now I am off to read the finale, book 3! I am still holding out that (spoiler again!) Charlie finally sees the light and ultimately chooses to be with Jace! Happy reading!!

    Author J.L. Clayton brings us the the continuing tale of Charlie as she comes into her powers. Charlie asks the people who she had always thought of as her parents why everything has begun to change for her. They then drop the information that she isn't their real daughter but they where friends of her biological parents. As they did this they also inform her that her boyfriend Tru's grandfather had killed her parents when she was just about to be born. Then they take her to a realm where she is to be endowed with her full magical abilities. And the moment that she is she gets a glimpse into the mind of someone whom she had trusted. This then begins the ordeal of her being kidnapped and having to find away to not only rescue herself but other magical creatures that had been taken. This is a great book and I highly recommend it for all fantasy fans.

    Thrust into a supernatural world torn between beauty and magic and wonder, there is also danger and not everyone is who they pretend to be. When she is taken prisoner by a lunatic, who is ready to hook her up to The Machine and steal her powers, Charlie is fighting back for herself and many others.

    Even with her powers, she is going to need some help. Trouble is she still doesn't know if she can trust this stranger from her dreams. Will he be her downfall or her savior?

    Will she survive? Will she get back to her family and our favorite hotties, Jace and Tru? You'll have to read it to find out!

    Ms. Clayton really hits her stride with the second book in her series. The second book is even better than the first. Next out is A Ghost of Magic and I expect it will be even more exciting!

    The first book in this series was a teaser and left me with a lot of questions. So, when I got my hands on A Blaze of Magic I read it in one day, even though the supernatural world is not usually my thing. I couldn’t believe I was reading about dragons, fairies, and ghosts and loving it. Charlie’s magical powers were amazing. Anything you could imagine, she had it all. The story was filled with action that kept me turning the pages, curious as to what would happen next. I can’t wait to find out what Crispin has planned for Charlie.

    I couldn't wait to start reading the second book. It takes the paranormal plot much further and many of the questions raised in Book 1 are answered, although tantalisingly there are also new ones now. I don't like to give too much about the plot away as I hate spoilers but the descriptions of Callamose were fantastic and I actually felt dizzy travelling the lei lines. OK Miss J L Clayton, just as I am torn between Jace and Tru you have to throw hot vampire Asher at me too? Now, how is Charlie ever going to make a decision!!

    Eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
