BloodPledge: The Dantonville Legacy Series Book 2 (A Paranormal Romance) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 160 ratings

Escaping a fire,
imprisoning her ex-boyfriend
and threatening vampires with a corkscrew
is not what a girl normally expects to happen at Christmas.

Resentment and anger at Alec’s privileged position as Daywalker has brought the Brethren to the brink of a deadly war that threatens to spill over into the human world.

To avoid such a catastrophe, Alec is faced with a terrible choice: either surrender Laura to the rebel faction who see her as their ticket to the daylight – not an option – or risk alienating their allies by invoking the Pledge, an ancient ceremony that enforces Brethren loyalty to the Principate.

The last time the Pledge had been used it nearly ended the Principate.

How close would it come this time?

Or will both Alec and Laura fall victim to the dangerous powers wielded by legendary Russian monk-turned-vampire – and Chief Rebel – Rasputin?

A former ancient historian and archaeologist, Tima accidentally smashed a 3,000 year-old Egyptian vase while on her first dig. Her supervisor made her glue it back together again. It took a week. From there she went on to specialise in Late Romano-British archaeology and the military forts along Hadrian's Wall, because buildings don't smash as easily. Now she's combined her love of history with another passion - storytelling - to create a dark tale of Roman soldiers who've been waiting nearly two-thousand years to be released from an ancient curse.

Tima has always been a storyteller, but it wasn't until five years ago that she seriously ventured into writing. The result was BloodGifted and Laura's Locket.

In 2011 BloodGifted was shortlisted in the Atlas Award and eventually came fourth place.

In 2012 it was listed among the top ten in the Choclit Search for an Aussie Star Contest.

In 2013 Tima was offered a publishing contract but declined in favour of going indie, preferring to be in charge of her own creative work.

In 2017 BloodGifted was nominated for the Golden Stake Award in the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival.

The Dantonville Legacy Series is now complete: Laura's Locket, BloodGifted, BloodPledge, BloodVault and BloodWish.

Keep a watch out for the Dantonville Chronicles, which are coming soon. These books will feature the other major characters who appear throughout the series. So, Terens, Cal, Jake and Sam will each have their own story.

Currently, Tima lives on the Central Coast, an hour's drive north of Sydney, in Australia.

Between bouts of writing, she can be found in the kitchen baking her favourite chocolate recipes, or in her garden pulling out yet more weeds.

These activities are responsible for forming more gothic, paranormal romance stories in her mind for future books.

I fell in love with this series after I read Laura's Locket and Bloodgifted. Tina Maria is an awesome paranormal writer and has become one of my favorite writers of vampire books. Before beginning Bloodpledge I did a quick read of Bloodgifted to refresh my memory. Bloodpledge is another amazing read, and continues where Bloodgifted left off. I can't wait for the next book. Tina Maria's talent leads to great descriptions of the events that are taking place during the story, I had a clear picture of exactly what was happening and why. We get to see how she brings the characters that were more in the background to the major roles they play in this book. Tina Maria has also introduced some new characters that are integral to the development of this book. If you haven't read Bloodgifted get it now and read it now so that you can continue the series with this great read. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series.

The Dantonville Legacy continues in this second book of the series and it doesn't fail to please. I enjoyed the first book, Bloodgifted, with its quirky Australian edge, and in Bloodpledge, we follow Laura Dantonville as she becomes more deeply embedded in Sydney's shadowy vampire world - and more deeply in love with the powerful and sensual vampire Princeps, Alec Munro, to whom she is tied through blood and an ancient curse. As the vampire enemies of the Principate plot and scheme to bring down the hierarchy that prohibits them from killing humans, Laura increasing finds herself a target. Loads of everything we've come to expect from a good vampire tale: romance, adventure, intrigue, twists and turns. Loved it - and I'm already looking forward to the next instalment of this riveting story. Highly recommended.

I do like this series and the continuity of the plot and I like the author. The books are a little different in the way the vampire and the history surrounding the myth unfolds and I will read the next one because I love authors that strive for originality.

Now having said that I couldn't really rate it higher as I found the main characters a little insipid. This might sound harsh but I did love the first book and believed it would all get better and better as the series progressed so I accepted a lot under first book banner. Whilst four stars is not exactly bad the problem is even this rating I struggled a little with. My usual reaction in a five star is to want to be her and have him but that only happens when the characters are so dynamic especially the men that you literally fall under the woven spell of the world-building and the part these characters play in the events we are lead to experience. In other words we identify with them, we feel what they feel.

In a four star the characters grab you but the over all feeling is not quite so intense but it does exist and coupled with a strong plot then four stars it is. Sometimes something in the book makes it hard to go lower and this is exactly how I felt with 'Bloodpledge". There is so much that is good. Honesty however also demands that some things can't be denied. The novel is a little lack-lustre not in the created world which is quite clever and detailed but in the characters that live in it. Hero or foe they are all similar as are the females so I was a touch disappointed when I finished reading it. I can't see why Alec wants to spend eternity with Laura and visa versa at least not at this stage. In fact she appears a little foolish quite often and not in an endearingly human way as such but just in personality. Alec in turn can be interchanged with any of the other men as there is nothing that makes him stand out.

There is still room to grow so I am hoping the next book changes my mind.

Now we're into the nitty gritty as to what life is like as a footsoldier Vampire on up to the top. And you wil see how many aspire to the throne. Oh and throw in a half-vampire/half-human and a totally human young girl to tantalize the senses of even the most stalwart Vampire -- and well, that has a lot to do with the plot. You'll really learn the ABC's of Vampiredom, So, what are you waiting for? PROCEED by clicking on Add to Cart.

This book in the series was exciting from the first chapter, it picks up where the first finishes and is a real page turner. It drew me straight in & had me thinking about the story between reads, I managed to finish in three days. The author has a real talent for creating images of the story in ones mind and the characters are so believable. Being an Australian the setting & references to Sydney were really endearing & made the story more exciting being so close to home. Congratulations to the author a first class Australian Vampire series can't wait for what happens next.

A wonderful suspenseful book, both romantic and funny too,but maybe the author could be persuaded to bring the price down a little for those of us in fixed budgets or better yet go to your local library and check them out.I have nothing against authors making money but when there's so many books in a set then if they want reviewers to recommend them...price accordingly.

I just finished reading Bloodpledge. I really enjoyed it! I read quite fast, and it moved along really well. There was never a part where it dragged, like some books can. It was exciting and carried me right along with it. I can't wait till the next one, to see what happens to Laura and Alex, and the rest of the good guys. I do hope they all come out on top. Also, I would love to read the individual stories about Terens and the rest of the gang! Hope I don't have to wait to long for the next book! Definitely 5 stars!

This is an amazing second book in this series. The action never stops and you become so involved with the characters that you can't wait to see what happens next. Laura and Alec are plunged into one situation after another where only there deep love of each other can help them through.
Characters that we only meet briefly in the first book are developed and become so interesting in their own right that you can't help but feel for them. The rebellion of some of the bretheren causes havoc and it is a race to see if Laura and Alec can survive the deadly plotting against them.
Once again this is a good length book with everything you could want in the content. I have already bought the 3rd book and can't wait to start it tonight.
