While assigned to New York City Emergency Management, Christine became the first female Director of Watch Command. Her team of 35 coordinated emergency incidents in New York City and issued emergency alerts to the public 24 hours 7 days a week.

Christine spent years believing a cleft lip and palate, being the shortest kid in class, and a learning disability were holding her back. But the opposite was true. They taught her that what makes us different is really the foundation for understanding our superpowers.

I was fortunate enough to meet the author at an event before I even knew she was an author. When I found out about this book, I bought it the same day. She's a talented author that's able to take you through the streets of Scotland, Italy, Africa and many other places I've never been, but hope to visit now that I've read this book. I have a rule that if a book doesn't grab my attention in the first 20 pages, I don't read it. This had me hooked from the very beginning. I'm also not usually a fiction reader, but again, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone else that enjoys non-fiction.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Sky Morning! The descriptions of the places Emily visited made me want to set out on adventures. The story follows a woman who has experienced tremendous loss and how she found herself again, healed her heart's wounds, and was able to discover what she truly loved.

A true journey story. As Emily travels the world, her self-assurance expands along with her horizons. Maier's intermittent use of flashbacks gives us just enough insight into Emily's past without jarring the reader away from the path Emily follows. A perceptive work from this first-time author.

What if you had a traumatic event occur unexpectedly in your life? What if, after you emerged from that trauma, you decided to pack up and leave your hometown for a six month trip around the world? That's what Emily does in this novel about recovering from an accident that left her with both physical and emotional scarring. She decides to be brave and dares to try living a different way. This is a wonderful novel about growth, transformation, and the quest to become who she really is.
