Mars has fallen. War is coming to Earth. But the man responsible for everything has other plans.

    Really enjoyed getting to know Drake and Jimmy and seeing their relationship develop. Each chapter revealed something new with plenty of 'didn't see that coming ' moments. Loved it but now desperate for book 3 in the series!

    That rare thing, a second novel in a series that's a) Doing entirely new things! b) Still broadens the world! c) IS A MOSTLY SELF-CONTAINED STORY LEADING SOMEWHERE AND NOT "NOW BUY BOOK 3"

    It's full of consequences from the events of Hauler too, as Drake adapts to an entirely different, crappier status quo and his relationship with Jimmy Something has turned into a full-on 'buddy cop' duo. Jimmy also gets to be the right man with the right plan more than he was in Hauler, as Drake's now stuck in the black market world and is no longer the experienced old hand. Throw in some exciting pulse-gun combat, run-ins with sinister car bandits, and entirely new settings that still feel as lived in as the truckstops of Hauler.
