Breaking Bedrock: A Psychological Thriller Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 463 ratings

From the bestselling author of Bedrock comes the explosive second installment in the series—a blistering psychological thriller where lies are weapons, love is leverage, and the wrong choice isn't just dangerous—it's deadly.

Addison Greyer has always played by the rules. She built the perfect life, followed the script, and did what was expected.

Then came William Hartman—mysterious, wealthy, and dangerously irresistible.

She knew better. She fought like hell to resist. But some temptations are too powerful to ignore.
Now, caught in a web of obsession, deception, and consequences she never saw coming, Addison is learning the hard way: some rules are meant to be broken. And some mistakes? They don't just cost you everything—you might not survive them at all.

Dark, riveting, and emotionally charged,
Breaking Bedrock is a psychological thriller where passion is a risk, trust is a gamble, and every choice has a price. Perfect for fans of psychological suspense, morally gray characters, and twist-filled thrillers that keep you turning pages late into the night.

This was a fantastic continuation of the Bedrock trilogy, I loved it! This one had me sad and happy for Addison, hating how things happened but loving the results. The author does a great job of making her characters so real, I feel like Addison and I would be friends! She’s a flawed, yet interesting character and I love her personality; despite many who do not. Impressive story, can’t wait to read the next one! The author’s stories are just un-put-down-able and I can’t wait to read more of them! One of my top three favorite authors!

    This sequel did not disappoint.

Having read and loved Bedrock I was a little concerned that the sequel would not complete the story of William and Addison as I wanted it to. WOW I could not have been more wrong. This story picks up with the love between William and Addison but also the consequences and reality of what that means for both of them if they truly want to be together. What I loved most about this sequel, like Bedrock, it did not tie everything up into a pretty bow like most books. The feelings and events were real, and tangible. This is what I love so much about this authors books. Another amazing read!! Cant wait to read more from Britney King.

I got it. Addison story as women not comfortable in her own skin due to her childhood shaping her. I get it. She finally opens up herself to and accepts Love and Confidence. It was good story just lacked a certain passion between characters. I felt writer was on verge of them being explosive individually and together then backed down.

I have to say that I loved this book. Britney King did an excellent job tying up the loose ends and giving more insight into the characters. It was a very good read. I found myself not wanting to put it down......even though I kept telling myself that I was going to stop after this chapter....lol! Seeing William and Addison try as hard as they could to find a way to make their relationship work was surreal. I felt at times as though I was watching them through a window. I could feel their helplessness and fear, as well as their love for each other. This is definitely a must read!!!

Breaking Bedrock is the follow up to Bedrock, to fully understand the story I suggest you start with the first one.

We met Addison (Addie) Greyer in the first book a happily married (she thinks she is) mother of three beautiful little boys, married to her college sweetheart Patrick. Her husband decided to move to China for work, Addie decides to stay behind with the children, she then decides herself to re-enter the work force.

She meets the handsome, powerful, rich William Hartman in the elevator where they are stuck together…yes they connect with one another and end of having sex right in the elevator….and so begins the affair.

William Hartman is a very powerful man, he’s used to getting anything he wants. William is also haunted by a very traumatic past, he’s not the type of man to fall in love with anyone….until he meets Addison. He knew she was married he still perused her and fell in love.

Breaking Bedrock picks up where book one left us Addison was kidnapped and tortured by a madman Scott Hammons who was after William. He’s now been arraigned, pleading not guilty and is out on bail, and awaiting his day in court. Leaving Addie fearing for her life, plus her husband is blackmailing her into staying married, a marriage that they both know deep down is broken and can not be fixed, and he’s also threatening to take the children away from her. Her life is in turmoil at the moment she has no place to let love in and continue her affair with William, her focus for the next few months is the trial and protecting her children at all cost. She decides to send William a letter explaining her decision to move forward with her life, to beat Scott Hammons in the trial, keep her children safe and secure, and stay in her marriage.

William doesn’t take Addie’s news to well, she doesn’t know who she’s dealing with he’s not to keen on rejection and he decides he’s finished playing nice and not going to fight fair, he is determined to win Addie back at all cost, because a love like they share only comes around once for a man like him.

"I believe I’ve loved you before, Addison, in another time, in another place, and I will love you again. Just wait and see."

"Because I need you, Addison. Because I’m a mess without you. But most of all because I love you, and I’m tired of hiding it."

Can two broken souls reconnect their love through a series of love letters?

Will Addie finally decide to put herself first and make herself happy, and stop worrying what others think of her?

I enjoyed reading Breaking Bedrock it was a quick read, there were many characters in the book to get to know, some I didn’t like at times. I loved the Epilogue it tied up all of the lose ends.

"We understand each other. It’s like you’re the drug I need, the drug that makes me better. Even more so, you make me want to be better."

I fell in love with Addison in this book! I wasn't sure how I felt about her in Bedrock, but breaking Bedrock really opened my eyes to how she is and why she does what she does! I love that Addison and Patrick were able to come to a mutual agreement, which is almost impossible in a real divorce with children involved. I also love how Addison and William are so connected with each other! I am looking forward to the next book in the series!!

Britney scores again with the amazing conclusion in Breaking Bedrock. I could gush about how much I loved this series for hours. I think it hits home for some women who get stuck in the everyday life with managing children and work that they forget about themselves. When Addison finally breaks out from her rut she is trapped between the life she has always known, and the life she so desperatly needs. Throw in a stalker and a meddling mother in law and you have the perfect storyline.

A great follow on. If you liked the first book, which you probably did or you wouldn't be reading this, then you will thoroughly enjoy this one. There are a few typing/spelling errors. But that is being very nit-picking, and the story is so good that it doesn't matter. I have the third book ready to read.

Reviews of Bedrock said it was all about choices that you make or don't make or perhaps wish you could make. My review never hinted at that it to me was an unusual story one that had me thinking WTF is this for real or what. I didn't dislike it. I just couldn't get a handle on it. Having said that it still gave it a 4* rating. It just sort of hooked me.

I didn't dislike Addie I was a bit confused as to what was going on her life. However in this book I managed to get a better handle things. So much was thrown at you, angsty yet suspenseful. Patrick turned to be just as wishy washy, his mother still a true b...... causing so much trouble. William at times I,second guessed him but I suppose love did that to him.

Again I'll say this isn't for everyone it's rather difficult being in all those peoples heads as many POVs are expressed. BUT despite everything it was really good. I couldn't put it down. Maybe this doesn't make sense but half the time you don't know what's going to happen next. Anyway be prepared for, quite a ride with this series.

Un-put-down-able. I read the first free book in the Bedrock series and immediately bought the second book in the series. It was equally as good. I really cared about all the characters and became totally immersed in their lives. I read until the early hours several times because I just had to know what was going to happen to them next. Must go now, have to buy the third book in the series. IMMEDIATELY.
