- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2024Have you ever read a book where you are constantly nodding your head in agreement and saying, “Yup, I’ve definitely felt that way before!” Well, I just did!
•
Shannon has absolute validated every feeling I’ve ever had about myself as a working mom. Her words have made me realize, “Man, I am enough and I am doing a heck of a great job! If people don’t realize that- their loss!” 🤣
•
Here are my top 5 quotes I absolutely love from her book:
What Lights Us Up: “It’s time to press delete on every negative thing you’ve ever heard of thought when it comes to chasing your dreams.” (Seriously- the whole chapter is a win!)
⭐️
The other F word: “What gifts of yours is the world missing out on when you let fear of failure hold you back?” (Yup… really think about this!)
⭐️
Bad Habits: “Not only is trying to be someone you’re not exhausting, but it’s also keeping the world from all your incredible gifts.” (Let that true personality shine everyone!!)
⭐️
Drive your own “darn” car: “Until you realize you are the only person in control of your life, you won’t fully commit to taking the steps required to create and live the life of your dreams.” (Stop people-pleasing and be honest, you know you’ve been there.)
⭐️
Quit the 3 P’s: “Own your fabulousness! Forget what others think about you and how you compare to them- it doesn’t matter. You were created unique for a reason and now is your time to shine.” (ALWAYS BE YOU!)
•
Shannon’s personal stories make this book truly authentic and a joy to read. She gets you to embrace your confidence and challenge your fears.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024I found that in the first chapter I had already related to what Shannon had experienced. Her questions of am I happy? Am I healthy? Am I fulfilled? really had me thinking about my life before I had even finished chapter 1! As women we often build our careers around the needs of others and realize it too late. I love that this book encourages taking charge and finding a career you love!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2024I am thankful I won a copy from LibraryThing Early Readers Review. Yet, I cannot brush over this book to write a review. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the title, "Breaking Free" and to stop those stinking thinking habits and excuses--break the line and change for good this time!
She gave so many golden nuggets, insight, and revealed life experiences where I could relate when climbing up the ladder (career wise) as well as considering fertility option(s) that could fail at my age including with medical condition(s) to see adoption as a way to still be happy!
I loved beliefs (thoughts)--action--results! While working with 3 support groups: "I See Her" at workplace, I see them struggle with traumas, triggers, and fears which the book captures a breakdown to overcome: BS, fears, excuses (which we call 'manipulation'), beliefs, and bad habits especially when it comes to women. Furthermore, Shannon gives beautiful wisdom to live a desired life. I am blessed to not only review/read material but to share her golden insight with those who desperately need it in our "I See Her" support groups that desire to change for the betterment--transformative power--with the ones they love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to having your own motivational speaker
I liked this book because it’s written in a way that kept me interested with the personal and relatable stories. Sometimes self help books can get boring and I lose interest, but this one I couldn’t put down. There are a lot of valuable tips included for anyone stuck in a rut and in need of some direction in life. Plus, it’s just a great book to always have in your collection as it will continue to be relevant for any future “life situations” that may come along.
