Brides & Birdies: A Man of the Month Club Novella : Small town fake dating romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 258 ratings

Always the bridal planner, never the bride…
I love my job, making every bride’s special day absolutely perfect.
Well, most days I love it.
But not today. Or yesterday. And definitely not tomorrow.
Why?
Because I’m planning my cousin’s wedding—her SECOND wedding to boot.
Bonus points: I got dumped by the best man and my family’s all over me about my single status. I’m a little salty.
One-too-many bridal brunch mimosas later, I bump into the Magnolia Point golf pro—and introduce him as my new boyfriend and plus-one for the wedding.
Oops.
Before I know it, he’s spinning me around the parquet dance floor and everything between us is feeling all too real.
But after planning hundreds of dream weddings, I know true love is too good to be true and HEAs never happen in real life.
Why should this time be different?

Kara Kendrick writes fun and flirty steamy small-town romance destined to give you all the feels. A reformed English major, she also has a master’s in counseling and was an elementary school counselor in her pre-mom life.

She loves the beach, wine, and rock hard abs, not necessarily in that order. When she’s not dreaming up Happily Ever After’s, you can find her chasing after her boy-girl twins, working out semi-hardish, or walking her adorable Shiba pups with her husband, who’s not too bad himself.

Madison Leigh is a definite good girl always working to make others happy. It's what makes her a great wedding planner but also a bit of a push over. Spence is an all around great guy, a real everybody loves him type with an extra sweet side that leaves him open to heartache. With a chance meeting at a bachelorette brunch these two start a fake relationship filled with little white lies, forced proximity, forbidden touches, a whole lot of fun and laughter and even some dancing. However they do miss out on the cake. All though story moved quickly which is reasonable for a quick read there were a few small parts were things just did seem smooth in transition. But overall the characters were great and definitely a good and quick distraction if you need to escape for a bit. I have voluntarily left this review.

I love reading novellas when I need a quick break from heavy novels. They're like a bit of citrus sorbet to cleanse my palate. The downside of novellas is that they frequently receive less attention to detail than their full-length counterparts. I'm thrilled to be able to say that Brides & Birdies breaks that mold. It's is a stellar example of what a top-notch author can produce when crafting books, no matter the length.

This book has everything even though it's less than 100 pages long.
    > Character development is thorough for the very likable main characters and the secondary characters who range from sweet to a waste of space.
    > World building is well done. The action takes place at a few locations in a Southern seaside town.
    > The complete lack of typos and grammatical errors made reading a breeze.
    > Sweet romance combined with a bit of spice set the tone.

This was the first time that I've read anything by Kara Kendrick. I was delighted to find Brides & Birdies in my reading suggestions from Amazon. I'm definitely going to read more of her books.

To Ms Kendrick, thank you for making this book available for Kindle Unlimited readers.

I was so excited to read this book. Not my first by the amazing Author Kara Kendrick, and most definitely will not be my last. I fell in love with Cady Cane Keys last year and I have a feeling that Magnolia Point is going to be just as amazing.

Madison Leigh, an amazingly talented wedding planner who as her aunt says is “always the planner never the bride” is planning her cousins wedding, again. She is doing her best to smile through it and keep it as professional as possible. She takes the digs are her being single and not married yet and lets them slide off her back. However, that doesn’t mean she isn’t hurt by them.

To make things just so much better with the upcoming wedding, her cheating ex is not only the grooms’ friends, he is also the best man. When Madison faces prying questions from her ever-critical Aunt Edna about her plus one for the event, she is about to answer, enter Spence, a golf pro, who was having lunch and happens to come to Madison's rescue by declaring himself as her plus one.

The next day the two embark on their fake date and attend Madison's cousin's wedding together. What started as just a chance meeting and fake date soon became more. Once Madison fulfills her wedding planning duties, she finally gets a chance to enjoy the festivities and shares a dance with Spence, when who cuts in? Yep, her cheating EX, of course he realized the terrible mistake he made. But it was too late because during this time, Madison and Spence start to connect on a deeper level.

So, can Madison and Spence take this chance meeting and let the feelings grow, will they use the gift they received as a thank you at the end of the wedding? I guess you will need to read the book, I cannot say anymore, or this will be a spoiler review.

Madison is a wedding planner working on her cousin’s second wedding now before she even has a first wedding and her aunt is reminding her of that all the time. Spence hears her aunt make one of these comments and steps in to cut some of the awkwardness and voila surprise wedding date to her cousin’s wedding.

This book was sweet and funny. I laughed out loud when they were talking about her cousin’s wedding hashtag and I would’ve thought that the first comment when Spence saw it would have been to distance as far from that as possible but I guess Madison is nicer than I am. Their meet cute was actually really nice, it didn’t feel quite so cliche even with the fake dating trope start. Little bit of spice, good for the length of the book. It wasn’t super compelling and had a few typos but I’d read more in the series for sure.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sweet novella about a golf pro who is instantly attracted to a wedding planner in need of a plus one to her cousin’s wedding. He volunteers to be her date and face her cheating ex who is the best man. It’s a simple story, no time for a lot of background story in this novella, but it’s well written and has a satisfying ending. If you’re looking for a quick read with a fun plot, this one works.

This book is totally what I'm looking for.. Short.. Steamy and sweet HEART ending. Madison and Spence's love story is totally unexpected. Both of them are not looking for love but they found each other. I love how their fake dating turned into love is here to stay.. 🥰🥰👌👌🔥🔥.

This is a fun, quick, entertaining read. Spence and Madison Leigh are interesting, relatable, intriguing, entertaining, fun characters. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. I loved the epilogue. The various secondary characters added to the fabric of the story. This is easy to read and get into.
