- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2025Ice meets Echo by chance in the middle of an assignment, and can’t let go. Echo is stone cold with avoids human interaction, but he can’t avoid Ice. For a “former” SecDef Dave is a busy guy, there were glimpses of Erebus in the past but it’s front and center, the idea is honorable assassins making the world better by eliminating powerful psychopaths, the only problem is there’s one hiding in plain sight in their midst.
There’s a lot going on as this is starting a new series, there’s some people we’ve met along the who have stories to tell. So buckle up.

Dang, I was hooked on these characters and their story the entire book. I'm back to write this after having finished book 3 and what a ride it has been. There are so many great characters. Lots of them have been through so much and I'm so happy to see them getting through it all. Definitely recommend reading but check your trigger warnings. It's a lot, but so good.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024Who knew slicing a stranger's arm would lead to a life, well that's what happened. Ice was going to use the bathroom when he walked in on a guy pulling a knife from another man's throat. It wasn't from fear but shock, when the same knife was hurling his way and good thing he didn't move because it landed in the throat of a man standing behind him. When he turned he saw the man had a gun,he was also the man that was stalking a friend and Ice was preventing him from getting to her. The man walked passed him to retrieve his knife and that's when the man sliced his arm for trying to grab him, that was the beginning of their relationship as far as he was concerned. Echo had other ideals and didn't look back, that had Ice thinking he had just met an assassin. How did he know because that was his old line of work. He couldn't forget the man and knew the only way to find him was to get back in and that's what he did. It took a few more stabbings and a gun shot before Echo realized he wasn't going away, Ice was in it for the long haul maybe even a lifetime. GREAT READ AND CUTE COUPLE!!😍😍😍😍

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2024I love Reese Knightly books/series, all of them. This first Erebus story was so good. When did Solomon go so awry? Loved the love, action and drama of the Erebus team. Looking forward to be 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2024I think this book is being used as a chance to shuffle characters around from all of the other interconnected series and to establish new teams and potential relationships. It acts as an epilogue of sorts to other series and an introduction to new characters. It is not a stand alone. However, there are too many characters, teams, couples and moving parts to try to sort it all out and create a good storyline in one fairly short book. It just didn’t work.
The story was choppy with brief flashes of events, then moving on to the next. The POV changed from one paragraph to the next without warning and then, in the second half of the book, a chapter here and there would be from the POV of a completely different character. I wanted to love the two MCs and really root for them, but it was mostly out of principle and not because I was able to really get to know them. Character development was impossible with the way the story jumped around and all of the information the author was trying to include.
I have read all of the previous interconnected series although it has been a couple of years for most of them. I remember really enjoying them and becoming invested in the characters and events. I’m doubting myself now, but they must have been good if I read so many series. Hopefully, this book is just a necessary summary and introduction of characters and the heart of the story will return in the next book. We’ve dabbled in at least four developing relationships so there is more to come. I don’t really like seeing all of the couples getting together and the issues between them before their story is told but I’m trying to believe that this will be a good series. Fingers crossed.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2024Ice and Echo, two assassins that work for Erebus, an organization dedicated to taking out the really bad guys that slip through the system. Ice is former spec ops and signed with Erebus when he got out because the SecDef thought he needed it. Then he left. Echo, Rogue and Fisher came to Erebus through a much darker channel once Dave hired Solomon to run the program. Ice runs into Echo on a Pegasus Op and is drawn to him but Echo disappears . He rejoins Erebus to find him. A hook-up in the aftermath of an assignment brings out something in both men, but Echo runs because he knows he is broken. And Ice is determined to have him for his own. Echo is not going make it easy. Even though Erebus is supposed to be the “good guys” the background and sub plot in this one are convoluted and dark. No spoilers here but this is a dark tale so please check for triggers before reading. But there is an HEA and this is the first book in the new series

5.0 out of 5 stars Good start to the new series
Broken is a great start to the new Reece Knightley series Erebus Assassins. The main characters Ice and Echo meet whilst Echo is ‘working’ and Ice becomes obsessed with him. The storyline is good, not much spice but it didn’t feel missing.
If you haven’t read the other series prior to this you will be lost at time as many old characters are in here with little explanation of their past and relevance. Even though I’ve read everything Reece Knightley I often wondered where do I know that name from.
That said I’m looking forward to Agony, Justice and Fisher’s story.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Good
After reading Hawk I went straight into this and I was so invested I sat up to finish it . Fabulous plot and characters and I wasn’t even bothered there was hardly any spice because it was really good . Now I have to be patient and wait for Justice & Fishers book.
