I am so happy I was finally able to read this. There's just something about a second chance romance that makes my heart flutter, but add fake dating? I'm a goner. Jagger and Coraline were a couple I wanted more from when they appeared in the Rosewood series and for them to get their own story was magical. Bless PB for making my dreams come true. Their fake dating start had me kicking my feet while I was reading but then it turned into swooning and I couldn't put the book down. I absolutely loved their chemistry and how their story developed and I cannot wait to read more of the Avalon Fall series!

    I went a little out of order with this series, as I read book 2 (𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘖𝘢𝘵𝘩) back in December, but I loved it so much I just knew I was going to need to go back and get Jasper & Coraline’s story!

    (As for reading the series out of order, it was absolutely not a problem at all; I don’t feel like any of Jasper & Coraline’s story was spoiled at all by reading it out of order!)

    These two had a bit of a *thing* a few years ago, but they ended up breaking it off, and now Coraline is not a very big fan of this man (except that yeah, she’s definitely still attracted to him…👀). On the other hand, Jasper is still very much obsessed, and oh look an opportunity to fake date her and try to win her back. Let’s go!

    I loved Jasper so much! He was so obsessed, and not about to let Cora get away again.

    Cora had my heart in this one. Her relationship with her mom and family isn’t the best, and definitely had me feeling emotional for her, and so happy that Jasper was in her corner.

    Penelope describes this series as cozy romantic suspense, and I agree, as most of this book was pretty “cozy” (and very swoony) but there’s definitely a feeling of danger lurking there in the background, and I loved how it all unfolded at the end.

    Despite a broken relationship with Coraline from many years before, Jasper still loves her. Now, she’s on the verge of opening her own bakery, a dream that she’s had since she was a child. In an effort to “help” Coraline deal with the crazy ex but also alleviate his mother’s concerns, Jasper suggests “fake” dating each other. Without seeing any other solution, Coraline agrees.     Coraline and Jasper falling in love (again) was a joy to read. Jasper was really easy to fall in love with. He’s likable and fun but touch his woman, and all bets are off. As he proved time and time again, he’s all in and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. And then ….. I find out that he’s a cat dad and SWWWOOOONNN!!!! I’m looking forward to more from Avalon Falls.

And one of the villains was just kind of brushed aside. I felt like SOMETHING was always going wrong. Minor editing mistakes and plot holes. Also trope of everyone being weirdly obsessed with FMC when she ain’t that special? Like girl is a baker… and everyone wants to have her and is willing to hurt/kill/steal for her (I say this as a avid at home baker)

    Welcome to Avalon Falls, where the girls are amazing, and the guys are hot!

    I mean we have already met both Cora and Jagger, but it is their story that makes you fall even further in love with them beyond the fact that Cora is Eve’s cousin and Jagger is Nova’s best friend. Our resident Reaper has a soft spot for his cat as well as the girl that got away. Cora has sass and attitude in spades, but we get to see the softer side to her when it comes to her baking as well as her siblings. When she needs to have a fake relationship, Jagger is right there to help. This is his chance to show Cora that they are meant for each other. Throughout this whole story we get our typical Penelope writing. There is some kissing, some twists and some suspense. Cora and Jagger’s story isn’t a super easy path, but they both realize that life doesn’t always go the way you want it is still worth every single event. They get a second chance to find the happiness that they both want so badly, and we witness Cora finding the strength she didn’t realize she had, and Jagger finds out what happened the first time that led to the fire she would breathe. My favorite thing about this story is we see a guy that is set out to show his girl that he is what she was always missing. This man takes acts of love to a whole new level, and I am here for each and every single one of them.

    Coraline and Jagger have a somewhat difficult past. She can't forgive him and he can't forget her!

    Coraline thought she had a great life, she had the guy she wanted to be with and everything was great! Until one night everything got turned upside down and she didn’t wait to discuss anything! She just left and that was the end. She put it all behind her and worked hard to open her business and work through everything… Until one fateful run-in and there was no stopping it!!

    Jagger could not have been more thrown for a loop than anything else. His family life was turned upside down, his girl poof and she was gone although he never could forget her and always held out hope!! But, as fate would have it he was in the right spots at the right time and everything started to come together, until someone decided NOPE not gonna happen..

    I knew I was going to love Coraline. Her witty comebacks and banter kept me entertained. I loved how even when scared she stood up for herself.

    After being introduced to Jagger/Jasper and Cora in Eva and her men’s story, I knew I needed more of them. Penelope did not disappoint and this was everything and more! We do get the backstory to what happened but it’s so much more focussed on their story now (which is what I wanted). I love how devoted and obsessed Jasper is with Cora and I love seeing her be won over and treated right. Definitely recommend. A great read and I love them so much
