A PASSIONATE WRITER OF DARK ROMANCE

I’m not afraid to push the boundaries in my writing. My dark, jealous, possessive heroes will have you in a chokehold while leaving you craving for more.

I love to write stories drowning in dark romance, and laced in spice that will make you question your morals. You’ll love every minute of reading about the possessive men who would burn the world down for you, then have you screaming their name amongst the ashes.

My aim is to incorporate darkness into the romance world while offering readers a place of solace.

Finally stepping out of the shadows in 2021, I released my first book, ‘Cal’ with the support of TL Swan and her Cygnets.

Otherwise known as ‘Becky,’ I currently reside in the UK with my husband and our two teenage sons, along with our three adorable fur-babies.

I enjoy nothing more than immersing myself in my writing cave and delivering deliciously, dark stories for my Reckless Readers.

A dark steamy romance with a good dash of humor.
Cal is the first book in the Secrets and Lies series by B. J. Alpha. A dark second chance mafia romance with a jealous and possessive MMC (don’t mind if I do!). Now, secret baby is one of my least favorite tropes, but B. J. wrote this story in such a way that I loved it. In fact, Reece ended up being one of my favorite characters. The story flowed really well, and I didn’t feel as if the plot was rushed with this being an under 6-hour audiobook. With entertaining doses of humor and the perfect amount of steam, I had a lot of fun. Please check the content, as there are some heavy themes. This audiobook is performed flawlessly in duet by Desiree Ketchum and James Cassidy. Desiree really captured the emotions of each character she performed. Whether it be discussing Lily’s heartbreaking losses or performing irritated, stuck-up fiancées. She has great range. James wowed with his hilarious teenage boy performance, as well as his range of accents. He definitely captured the possessive Cal perfectly. Such an enjoyable audiobook.

    Cal and Lily are perfectly hot together. But, my favorite character by far, is their teenage son, Reece. Being high functioning on the Autism spectrum, he is a tech genius. His witty behavior and antics kept me enthralled through the entire story.

    Cal is also one of my favorite MMCs, ever. His love and devotion for Lily and Reece show in every one of his actions. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

    After listening to the audio, I want to add that the duet narration is amazing. The narrators bring these characters to life perfectly!

    The first thing I noticed about this book was that it was tame in the spice for a BJ Alpha book. I liked that there was an actual story and deeper plot to this book. Not that I don’t like her super spicy books with little plot, I like that she has a mix of both. I loved the ASD rep with Cal and Lily’s son Rhys. I didn’t love how the f bomb was dropped in it felt like every sentence. It made the impact of the word less…impactful. Especially when it’s a 14 year old carelessly throwing adult words around without any sort of intervention by said adults. Maybe that’s just me and my preference but it seemed out of place.

    I think James and Desiree did an amazing job with this duet narration. I think there were some over the top moments that could have been not so over the top, but overall it was an enjoyable listen.

    While this is a 2nd chance mafia book, I can not tell you how many times I laughed out loud reading this with Reece.

    Cal and Lily connect in a one night stand in Vegas 15 years prior to this book. Cal left, and 15 years later, he is brought back face to face with Lily and, surprise, she has a son Reece, who is Cal’s son. Lily had no way to connect with Cal to let him know of his son. When Reece uses his amazing hacking skills, he brings in the O’Connell family to their doorstep. I loved these characters so much, and Reece stole my heart. I loved him. This will bring in all sorts of emotions while reading this: laughter, crying, anger, and even some intense blushing. Overall, this book was really good. This is the 1st book in the Secrete and Lies series.

    I really wanted to love this. I read this author’s latest series (mafia daddies) first and now going back to their earliest works I can definitely see the exponential growth in this author’s writing style, especially the dialogue and spicy scenes. The bones of the story are good, just overall needed fleshed out. It could have easily been double the length solely focusing on character and plot development. It felt like we never really got to see beyond the surface level and I desperately wanted more details, more dynamic, and a deeper emotional experience/connection. I really appreciated the Autism representation, Reece was by far my favorite. I didn’t connect with Lily at all and many times I thought Cal was too good a guy for her. We’re left off on a cliffhanger of sorts in both the abrupt end scene of the main storyline and the epilogue doesn’t shed light on what happened post end warehouse scene, just jumps 18 months into the future focusing on leading us into Con’s story by leave us on another cliffhanger. We really need a few more chapters to tie up the loose ends of what happened with the new Cartel leadership dynamic, Lily and Reece making it out, and did Finn and Con’s teams ever make it to them? Does Nico know they have ties to the O’Connell’s now? How did the cartel find them? So many questions.

    I loved how this story flowed. Some conflict but no huge miscommunication trope, some sexual tension but didn’t have to wait til the end for it to come to fruition, and it was instant back in love and he fell hard first.

    Lily gets a text from her son and she rushes to his aid only to find he is being held by some men. She soon faces a man from her past and things are about to get interesting when the man from her past meets her son.

    I loved Reese. I loved how he had autism and all of the people around him didn’t treat him differently. He was treated like a teenager and at times they had to do different things due to his triggers but they didn’t treat him with bubble wrap.

    Cal was adorable and I loved how he instantly fell back for Lily and wanted to be a father.

    This is my first book from this author and I look forward to reading more.

    This story starts off with a bang and once I started reading I couldn't put it down. This is Cal and Lily's story. After one steamy night together a misunderstanding prompts Lily to leave without exchanging numbers. Cal never forgot about Lily and when they cross paths 15 years later in the most unexpected way, his whole world is turned upside down when he discovers he has a teenage son name Reece. I absolutely loved Reece and all the mischief he got up to. It made for a very entertaining read and kept me turning the pages just to find out what he would do next.
    Cal and Lily's chemistry was off the charts hot 🔥 their relationship was well developed and I really felt the connection between them.
    There is alot of twists and turns. What Lily went through in the past was heartbreaking and she really was an amazing and strong character.
    I loved how protective Cal was over her and when he got her back he wasn't letting go.
    The brothers were fantastic side characters and I seriously can't wait for their books. This was my first book by this author but it definitely won't be my last. It was steamy, funny, action packed with just the right amount of angst to keep me wondering what would happen next ❤

    The secrets and lies run rampant in the O’Connell clan, as well as with Lily. The smutty times are so hot! The storyline keeps you reading on and the characters are so interesting and likeable. Reed has my heart.
    Cal was such a great start to this series and I can’t wait to read on in the series!

    Lily had me from the beginning. I wasn’t expecting how wholesome and hilarious her relationship with Reece would be. She’s a baddie. Doing her best to protect those she loves and making sure not to let any man walk over her.
