Chase: Blazers Hockey Romance Kindle Edition
A fake relationship, second chance, sports romance.
His game strategy is to win her back—and he doesn’t plan to lose.
Alternate Captain Chase Reid has only ever loved one thing more than playing hockey: Emily Clark. Years after she shattered his heart, he’s still captivated by the stubborn yet compassionate salesperson for his team, the San Jose Blazers. But she avoids him like he’s a major penalty.
Emily broke Chase’s heart to save him from her devastating secret, although she never stopped loving him. She raises barriers so she won’t succumb to his easygoing charm.
When her hand is forced, Emily sells Chase on a fake relationship. Lines blur and desire sizzles. Chase devises a game plan to win a second chance, but Emily still hides a heartbreaking truth. Will history repeat itself?

About the author

Lisa writes about heroes and heroines with heart and heat, and happy endings. Often with a cat strolling across her keyboard.
When not writing, she can be found designing book covers with a cat sitting on her desk. Or reading romance novels with a cat snoozing on her lap.
She lives in California with her husband and too many cats.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2022I loved this second installment in the Blazers Hockey Romance series. Chase is so lovable, and how can you resist a man who loves cuddling a cute kitten? Emily discovers just how hard a task it is as she tries in vain to keep her distance from the man she never stopped loving.
Lisa Linwood takes a risk with Emily, but in my opinion it pays off. Some readers may question Emily’s decision to keep her infertility from Chase. But Linwood recognizes people are flawed and often make poor decision—for what they believe are the right motives. Thinking she is giving Chase the opportunity to find happiness in having the family he so desires, Emily is willing to sacrifice her own happiness. She doesn’t want him out of any obligation he might feel. So she decides it’s better to make him think she’s not interested so he can move on with his life. It’s the basis for the conflict of the story, and without it, we wouldn’t have had the chance to go on the journey of rediscovering their love with them. So I, for one, am glad Linwood played it as she did. I think it gives some of us who have made what could be considered stupid choices out of love hope that somehow, in the end, it will work out.
Speaking of risks, Linwood tackles the difficult subject of infertility with tact and sensitivity, which I appreciated.
As for the writing, I t’s top notch. I love how Linwood cleverly works in hockey terms very naturally.
I laughed out loud about Emily’s insistence on removing the Christmas tree ornaments from the bottom so they could be placed in the box first, leaving those at the top of the tree to be put away last. I can so relate to that.
The use of the jokes (which most of us call “dad” jokes) was a clever addition. And I think it perfectly illustrates to the reader and reminds Emily what a fantastic father Chase would be. It’s subtle (not the jokes, they’re pretty obvious) but what they represent and very cleverly used IMO.
All in all a great addition to the series. I’m really looking forward to Derek’s story. I love a hero who needs redemption—and Derek did demonstrate he has some good qualities. Looking forward to seeing more of them in his book.
Thanks Lisa for another great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2022Book 2 in the Blazers Hockey series ~ yes it's a stand-alone, but more enjoyable if read in order as Hope and Beck make frequent appearances in this installment.
Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, sports romance, hockey ~ NHL, fake relationship, second chance, infertility, under 200 pages
Emily & Chase
They were meant to be, or so Chase thought, until Emily broke his heart when she broke up with him instead of moving to Pittsburgh together. Flash forward 8 years and they're back in each others lives. Chase needs a date for his brother's wedding and Emily needs an in to meet one of his friends, so they decide to fake date for a few months. We know how fake dating always turns out if you've read this trope before.
Emily starts to feel like part of the Reid family again as they welcome her with open arms. I really enjoyed everyone in Chase's family. Chase was so sweet and you could just feel his love for Emily through the pages. Their chemistry was on point.
Overall, I really, really liked this one, but I am very upset about the lack of communication that resulted in 8 years wasted. 8 years!! I wish there was a little more information on the infertility too. All ends well 5 years later, but that's an awfully long time to waste.
Next book will be about Derek and hopefully him getting his life together.
*Thanks to Lisa Linwood and Booksprout for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2024I have greatly enjoyed this hockey series! It’s one of my favorites. I love hockey players bc I love big men. Unfortunately I don’t know anything about hockey except which one is the goalie. Enjoy the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2023This book is the second in a series by Lisa Linwood. Having read her first book, BECK (and loved it) I am pleased to say this book is even better. The author has really come into her own - she writes in a smooth, confident style. The push-pull relationship between Chase and Emily is expertly crafted and creates the perfect amount of romantic tension. Lisa demonstrates again that she knows her hockey - and even if YOU don't, she doesn't make the sports aspect of the story overbearing or clunky. If you also love cats / cat rescue, this book is really going to be for you!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2023This book so far was my favorite. This pulled from my heartstrings from the beginning. Loved that neither one of them really moved on from each other. That's true love right there.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2022Emily and Chase dated in college and broke up when Emily got news she felt would too greatly impact their future. She, however, didn’t tell this news to Chase.
8 years later and they need each other’s help. Their fake relationship starts to feel not so fake, but the news Emily received still hasn’t changed.
I was waiting for this big reveal of the story of Emily’s news, but it never really came. It was simply thrown in to the middle of a chapter and we didn’t get much backstory or explanation about it.
I did appreciate that there wasn’t a quick fix, immediate HEA with their struggles. It wasn’t until the Epilogue and “5 years later” that we saw things wrap up.
I loved the chemistry between Emily and Chase, and seeing our friends Hope and Beck again!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
