Cowgirls Love French Kisses: A Sweet Romantic Comedy in the City of Love (Falling in Paris Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 231 ratings

A stolen passport. A borrowed bed. And a Frenchman she can't forget.

Picture this: a sassy Texas gal—that's me—stumbles into the country that invented romance. Croissants, cobblestone streets, the whole Frenchie-French works!

And then her passport's stolen.

Enter Mathieu, who I don't trust for a minute after my first thieving Frenchman experience, but it turns out that's he's as sweet as crème brûlée with a cinnamon roll heart. We spend hours pouring out our souls as only two strangers can do. And since I have no hostel...

He lets me sleep in his hotel room on that first night without even a hint of funny business, but I remember reaching out in the night to hold his hand.

And then he went up in smoke.

Or so I thought, because I swear I keep seeing him through the glass of the pyramid in front of the Louvre where I'm teaching English to a grumpy group of CEOs. Yet everytime I rush over to check—it's not him.

Until one day... it is.

If you're lookin' for a fish-out-of-water tale sprinkled with laughter, love, and a dash of Parisian charm, then honey, you're in for a treat with Annie and Mathieu's heartwarming journey that lays the foundation for the "Falling in Paris" series!

Annie is the one who started it all. Enjoy all the standalones in Falling in Paris, a sweet romantic comedy series:
  • Cowgirls Love French Kisses
  • Falling for French Kisses
  • Enemies to French Kisses
  • Champagne and French Kisses
  • ...and more to come!

This was a fun, sweet, quick story. This sweet man who gets a little nervous and tongue tied when it comes to expressing his emotions but with the help of some friends he finally lets go of his fears and falls in love wholeheartedly.

A book I’d recommend as a simple romantic book with the chemistry and connection of the charts. No steam necessary when in the middle of a romance that is truly made for the books. A Frenchman and a Cowgirl entailed together after a dare and the rest is history.
Whirlwind and sweet and simple and delicious with the right amount of draw and hope and happiness. Soulmates finding each other in a vast world where you never thought they would.

This author uses elegant descriptive words to describe a scene. She is very intuitive in writing a love story between two different cultures. Read and enjoy!

Cute, whimsical, and warm heartfelt connection between two different worlds. I love the humor from the Texan side but the love and compassion from the French side.

Annie loves her home in Texas but she feels she doesn’t belong. She arranges to travel to Paris for six months. It doesn’t start out too good because her passport is stolen at the airport. When Matthieu finds her waiting at the American Embassy he knows it is a national holiday and they will not be there that day. He goes his way and she can’t stop thinking about him. Matthieu is still suffering from the rejection of the last woman he was seeing and although he feels something for Annie he pushes those feeling aside. Mathieu is lucky to have the group of friends who look out for him and sink back into the depression he was in. Annie finds a job and makes friends with the other international people living at the hostel but she can’t get Mathieu off her mind. Annie is willing to go after what she wants. Mathieu wants a wife and family but is afraid to let his heart get hurt again.

The author depicts both Annie and Mathieu’s friends very well. Their story kept my attention although I thought part of it was overplayed. But that’s the joy of fiction. Your characters can be and do whatever you want and they certainly were intertwining. I recommend this series. I read the second and third books before this but they each have their own story so it didn’t make a difference.

    Reader’s Notes:

    – this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone (though it's technically a prequel for the Falling in Paris series)

    – this is told from Annie & Mathieu’s points of view

    Review:

This was a fairly quick and sweet romance! I loved Matthieu’s friends and their determination to help him out of his funk by daring him to talk to the woman who clearly caught his eye right in front of them! I loved Annie’s desire to fit in and her caution after the unexpected encounter that left her without a passport when she first entered France. She was a fun character to get to know between her determination to find her place and still be herself, even though it’s very different than a Parisian acts. I loved that she formed strong friendships with other people in the hostel and that the girls were as close as sisters. I also loved that Annie fit in so well with Matthieu’s family (and that we first met the family with Matthieu alone so we knew what they were like prior to Annie being introduced).

    Summary:

Annie came to France to find a place that she fit in, and the idea of cute Frenchmen didn’t hurt either. But upon entering the famous City of Love, Annie finds herself rethinking that all Frenchmen are cute when one greets her and steals her passport in the next moment. Now passportless, Annie can’t stay in the hostel and needs a new passport as soon as the embassy reopens after the holiday. That’s when her knight in shining armor (or maybe he’s just another thief?), Matthieu steps up and asks Annie what is wrong. With having vented her woes, he offers her his hotel room to rest in temporarily. Though she’s still a bit unsure of the Frenchman, Annie accepts and she thinks she grabs his hand before succumbing to sleep. When she wakes the next morning, she finds that Matthieu left her and her heart left with him. Now she has a job tutoring French CEOs in American at the Louvre and thinks that she sees Matthieu at every turn…

It’s been awhile since Matthieu has been in Paris or to see his college friends, but now he’s doing both. And on the way inside where he was to meet his friends, a whirlwind of a cowgirl catches his eye. He feels that he has no business looking for love after how his ex left and broke his heart, but this cowgirl can’t seem to leave his mind as he sits with his friends. With a pointed dare thrown his way, Matthieu finds himself talking to the girl and discovering that she needs a temporary place to stay. When he offers his room and then leaves her to rest the next morning, Matthieu finds he still can’t get her out of his mind. Nor has she left it months later as he watches her fulfilling her dreams teaching at the Louvre…

The storyline is cute, and I have enjoyed earlier books that she wrote. However, in this book, the Texas sayings are just so overused that it’s overwhelmingly annoying. If I hear “tarnation” one more time, I’m going to scream. It’s really a shame, because if she toned it down by about 75%, you would still get the message without the annoyance.

The storyline was weak, the characters unrealistic, and the language utterly annoying and forced (we had a “tarnation” within the first few pages).
Couldn’t deal with it - I felt myself getting dumber the further I went.
